Anyone have loud fan issues only in Windows 10? I didn't run into them (after the normal updates) in Win8.1

None, but I've noticed that fan can get loud if Windows Update is doing something in the background.
Have you tried changing the fan option on the Vaio Control Center?

Is anyone thinking of upgrading to the Vaio S13 2016 model? It's got essentially the same superbly designed chassis as the Vaio Pro 13, but gives you an i7-6500U, same FHD resolution but without a touchscreen (probably a good thing) and is apparently a lot quieter. I love the idea of being able to have the same chassis... Just a shame it only comes with 8Gb of ram, and there's no 11" model.

I just got as a present from my dad his vaio pro 13, that he used very little, since the 13" screens are too small for him, and he got it because he was impressed at the sony store when released and he wanted it for travelling since it is a very thin and light powerhouse. However, after multiple back surgeries he hasn´t been able to travel much and come visit me in Brazil, so it is basically unused. I am taking it back to Brazil with me and sell it for about 900 bucks, computers there are two to three times more expensive, so I could probably get more...just want to get some money for it instead of great machine like this just sitting in his closet.
I have the Vaio Z clam, so I am not interested in keeping it, although it is very tempting since it is a beauty. If I do keep, I would like do some basic upgrading...such as wireless card and ssd. any suggestions? the wireless card on there is the 7260n....wondering if the newer m.2 like 8260 would fit without changing the wires...doubt it though. perhaps the 7260AC? The ssd is the Pcie version Xp941 AHCI 256gb, so to be safe, since nvme won´t work neither will any m.2 as sure bet, perhaps an upgrade to the same drive but 512gb? Kind of expensive, but 256gb I can´t handle if I decide to keep the machine. Let´s see. I have the new Vaio Z clam with the 28w Iris 550, same chip that comes with the new macbook pro 13 with touch bar....amazing laptop and build....but there is something to this sony pro 13 that is hard just deciding to sell it...just wanted to share you guys.

    Hey there!

I am using a Vaio SVP1321L1EBI with a clean instalöl of Windows 10 x64. Furthermore VAIO Care V. 8.4.5.06026 as well as VAIO Control Center V. 6.2.15.11140. And a bunch of other available software packages from here:

    https://www.sony.co.uk/support/en/product/SVP1321L1E

    http://www.sony-asia.com/support/download/564557

When I bought the notebook there was Win 8 x64 preinstalled. However, under Win 10 and with the self-downloaded software above there are some essential functions in VAIO control Center missing:

    - cannot adjust max. battery load level in Control Center (50% or 80% battery preserve options N/A)
    - cannot set USB 3.0 port to "always on" mode (for charging devices when laptop is off)
    - VAIO ASSIST button is not working
    - disable or enable automatic display brightness N/A
    - cannot set Fan Control to silent mode (even though installed separately) -> Fan is ~2900-3600-4100 rpm all the time, with going down to silent after being IDLE for let's say 10 Minutes. Thats too noisy. The old "silent" mode was way better.
    - cannot set Display colour modes (I liked the colour-intense one...)
    - cannot adjust or set Sony's audio boost (preinstalled equalizer settings with bass boost were great in Win8!) I did not find a equal good equalizer setting within the Realtek HD Settings

My Control Center looks like this: It features much less adjustment options like the old one on Winows 8:

However, I want it to look like the old one:

Does anybody know a solution to this? Or does anyone know the build number of Vaio Care and Vaio Control Center where all the desired options are available?

I got the Sony Vaio Pro 13 from my Dad with only 350 hours of use....the control center that is installed is an older version 6.2.12.13060, and the options you mentioned that were missing are available here. I am selling the laptop and plan on a clean install of windows 10....I will look into where to find the best shared library and control center version.
Vaio Care is not installed at the moment.

Hi everyone, SVP owner since August 2013 here, got 2 questions for you all.

I have the non-touch model (SVP1321C5E) and the screen was busted so I ordered a new one on aliexpress. Decided it'd be cool to get the touchscreen because why not. Installation went fine, looks great, screen works great. Only problem is touch doesn't work.
Anyone have experience with putting a touchscreen on any of the non-touch models? The device seems to register fine in device manager as an HID-compliant touch screen and Windows tells me it has "Full Windows touch support", but it simply doesn't do anything when I touch the screen.

I'd download the touch screen driver for my model but that brings me to the next issue...

There are no Windows 10 drivers or software downloads for the SVP1321C5E. Meaning I don't have Vaio Care, Control Center, or access to specific drivers that one might need in a case such as this.

If anyone has any experience with either of these matters, I'd greatly appreciate some help!

Got a Sony Vaio Pro 13 21C5E too.
Hope to have it delivered soon. How do you know know what SSD to get? (there seems to be PCIe m.2 and Sata m2 - not entirely sure what version this supports?)

    Hi all,

As I saw, some people replace 7260n to 8260ac.
Thanks for that advice, I choose to replace it by the latest 8265ac and it works well.
    Any other advices ?

    Many thanks,

I bought one off ebay and it says
Details about OEM Sony VAIO SVP13 Series 13 DC DC-IN Power Jack Harness Cable 364-0001-1282_A

Now you might not actually need t replace the jack. If its torn off, ask electrician to solder it. If its loose, you can always ask for help in pushing out metal parts of your charger plug, so it tightens. Just ask a local electrician for help first

it will, but the issue is with whether you have SATA or PCIe SSD installed
    PCIe - uses Samsung drives
SATA - i think that was Toshiba,

If it's PCIe you will most likely need to custom mod BIOS for it to work - Sony never updated that to support NVMe protocol (Sony used AHCI protocol drives and if you are looking for them you will pay a small fortune and won't get the same reliability and speed of NVMe)

you can find instruction over here

    https://www.win-raid.com/t1072f16-Sony-VAIO-BIOS-modding-hacking-unlocking-Some-Questions-3.html

I did upgraded to Samsung EVO 960 500GB and works well (given that SVP13 supports PCI 2.0), i'm getting almost 1700 MB/s read/write speeds,

Hello everyone. I did a fresh start for my vaio pro 13. Now I am wondering about the hidden recovery partion on my laptop. Obviously this probably has a copy of windows 8 which I do not need anymore. Is it possible to delete/merge this partition with the c drive and how can it be done?
    Many Thanks

I got everything working on my SVP13213CGB except for the intel gpu is constantly at boost clocks at idle no matter what settings I change. That is, until I run a 3D benchmark, then it goes down to 200-300mhz base clock instead of boosting up/staying at to 1000mhz. You have it all backwards you stupid laptop.

    Any recommendations?

Do you have a bootable USB? You can delete/format like that. Or look up how to use the cmd-->diskpart utility.

Hi, I'm looking to upgrade the 256gb SSD in a Sony Vaio Pro 13 to a larger capacity, preferably 1 TB. Has anyone successfully put one in? Which brand of drive did you use? Will an NVMe drive work, without having to hack the BIOS?

Guys, I still have my Vaio but recently I did try to update the ssd and things got wrong. After the clone the new SSD boot a few times but now refuses to do it. I'm thinking of format completely the new drive. I'm looking on the drivers page, https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/support/laptop-pc-svp-series/svp1321l1e/downloads but I'm seeing some stuff, like the Vaio Control Center that it's label for the Windows 8. Is that the last version of it, the same that I had on my vaio (I had windows 10 on the vaio) ? If yes, then it's going to work on windows 10, right? And do I miss anything from the drivers page? I feel like it doesn't have all the stuff that it came with my laptop...

WINDOWS 10 works great on the Vaio Pro 13. If certain devices don't have drivers after installation check station-drivers.com or use the Windows 8.1 driver from Sony.
