    I got a Samsung XP941 256GB off Amazon.
Did not want to risk buying the 951 to find it not compatible with the Vaio Pro.

Hi All, Looking for a little help here. I have an issue with a SVP 13 that I think is overheating and shutting off. I'm seeing the issue mostly with full screen video (YouTube etc). Can any one advise what are normal idle/load temperatures for an i5 or i7 in a Pro 13 ?

    Hello,
i want to upgrade my SATA-M.2 Samsung 128GB SSD (MZNTD128HGAM) in my Vaio Pro 13
(SVP1321C5E AE1). The sony customer support couldn't tell me if the M.2-port is sata and pcie capable.

Anyone replaced a sata ssd with a pcie-m2 ssd in the SVP13?
    WP_20160215_14_48_58_Pro_LI (2).jpg
EDIT: Replaced the wifi card with a new Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 8260 - M.2 Card and it works flawlessly

    Hello all.

My sony vaio pro 13 also had wifi problems like everyone else.

    Reading this post
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...ounge-svp13-2013.720737/page-217#post-9419176

I decided to buy new wifi card.
    I bought this
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/272011010908 (fast shipping, cheapest price).
    Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 8260 NGFF Wifi Card 8260NGW 867Mbps 802.11a/b/g/n/ac

And it's working properly. I got some signal boost. So if someone wants to buy 8260NGW for vaio pro 13, I confirm that it's working out of box.

    Hi everyone,

I just signed up to be able to post some messages in this forum.
As everyone here, I own a SVP13 as well.

I'd like to upgrade a bit this wonderful ultrabook, but I was wondering how I can "clone" the internal M.2 SSD (with all stock settings, softwares & Microsoft licence) ?
Indeed, I think that when you erase the original partition, some function (especially Brightness setting) are not working well if you do not use default setup (Vaio control center Issue).

I'm used to use Rene Becae to clone HDD to SSD, but I never done a clone between two M.2.
If Anyone do have any suggestion or advices, I would highly appreciated :)

As other member, I'm going to install the Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 8260 NGFF Wifi Card 8260NGW 867Mbps 802.11a/b/g/n/ac (even if I do not have any wifi trouble) to boost my wifi signal. I'll keep you posted :)

(Sorry for my poor English, I'm French lol)

Actually I do have another VP13 under windows 10 Family,

I have tried but it's not working neither...
When you did install the wifi card, there were no issue at all at the very beginning ?
Should I need to update windows to a specific Build ?

Could you let me know who have processed to install the card ?
    (my Bios Version is V1044V7)

Thanks m8 for you support !

Upgrade to latest proset wireless intel driver before starting the installation. Watch YouTube video on how to open vaio pro 13. Remove N7260. Install AC8260. Close case and test notebook. If there is a later proset wireless version for the AC8260 install it (in my case there was)

    Thanks for your reply,

    That's exactly what I have done ...
I have attached on previous message the printscreen of my computer which shows the issue (drivers won't run but the card is recognize by windows...)
I do have install the lastest version of the drivers 18.33.0 from the official website. I really don't know what's wrong.

Did you buy a real ac8260 or an engineering sample? I do not know whether that makes a difference to the drivers but it is the only thing that comes to mind.

Several options: install w10 on a second partition and see whether ac8260 works. Even with builtin drivers it should work. You did reconnect both antennas right? If not perhaps ac8260 card bad or not seated correctly in m2 slot. Does your old n7260 still work when reinstalled?

    Hello
I have tries in w8.1 and w10 I do have the same issue each time (code 10 error - the device cannot start)

Even after viewing numbers of videos on youtube the problem still here...

Yes both antenna are properly connected, I have double checked each time...
Yes when I reconnect the old 7260 card it is working... so weird...
Are there any bios manipulation that I should do?
Maybe the chipset do not allow me the connect a "none" stock device ?

I would not be surprised if that solves your ac8260 problem assuming your ac8260 is not defective.

You do have the vp1321 ?
I have read somewhere that the bios version is different for the VP1322.

Are there any thing to do before upgrading the bios?

How much could I sell my SVP13226PXB that is in flawless condition and used very little? I just turn it on maybe once every few weeks for updates and whatnot. I'm always on my desktop PC.

    Specs:

    Sony VAIO Pro 13 | Intel Core i7-4500U | 8 GB DDR3 1600 MHz | Intel HD Graphics 4400 | 256 GB PCIe SSD | 13.3" Full HD IPS touch display | Microsoft Windows 10 Pro 64-bit

@Kain: I have the i5 version and it already gets loud when working or even when windows starts background processes (am in balanced mode, don't remember fan mode but definitely not the loudest always-on). I am wondering how loud is your Sony VAIO Pro 13 | Intel Core i7-4500U?

My SVP 13 i5 256GB reports hardware problem when running the built-in Windows Memory Diagnostics from Windows 10 Pro x64. I know the memory is soldered. Does this mean my machine is now a total loss? I have also gotten memory-related BSOD during regular use so I know there is something wrong. Can this be repaired?

Addendum: memtest86 5.1.0 is on its fourth pass and still has not reported any errors. So either it is intermittent or some Windows 10 problem. Could someone running w10 try the windows memory diagnostic to see whether it passes?

I have the same code 10 error - the device cannot start, when installing on two different laptops, asus ux303 and an HP 15t. I kind of gave up for the moment, thinking maybe the 8260 is defective. I haven´t tried a clean windows 10 yet, but I will eventually.

    Hello,
Does it give you Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) with error messages like CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED and KERNEL_DATA_IN_PAGE error. If so, you can try taking it to a computer repair shop and tightening the screw on the SSD. This can come loose with extended use on the Vaio pro 13. Same error happened to me and had me tearing my hair out.

hey guys, just wondering how people who have changed their wifi card have gotten along. I'm thinking about installing the 8260 chip, but have seen some conflicting posts over results. Is it definitely compatible with the laptop, and importantly does it make a difference with range/ speeds etc?

Yup very happy no probs ac8260 on my vaio pro 13 running w10 x64 pro. Great upgrade from the stock n7260 because i also upgraded my router to an Asus ac3200. I can say that going from n to ac resulted in a huge improvement in wifi throughput.

Thanks guho, I've ordered the chip off amazon and will give it a go then. This forum has gone quiet now! Are people still using and enjoying their vaio pro, I know I am and just want to put out some positive words on it, normally everyone complains about it's shortcomings but it is a very accomplished ultrabook and still getting used almost 3 years after purchase. Thanks Sony and come back soon to the laptop market!

I have sent back the Wifi Card and reordered a new one and it's working flawlessly (no more code 10 error and so) !
The older card was probably defective !

I also upgraded to the AC8260 a couple of days ago. I'm happy with the results so far. Quite straight forward operation, except getting the antennas to click back on the card (needed to use a bit much force)

I bought my card from here:
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/222105688093?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

I also made a fresh installation of windows 10, and it just feels like a new computer now. I'll definately keep it for a while longer. A better ultrabook than this still costs quite some money.

Mine was memory-related. Memtest86 7.0 also found errors at one location only. It is unfortunate that the RAM is soldered to the system board making it uneconomical to replace. Fortunately, Windows allows excluding bad memory pages using bcdedit (store name: {badmemory}). Ever since I excluded the bad page, my Vaio Pro 13 has been completely stable.

    Hey,

Sorry for the super late response. I don't visit this forum too often and I also sold my VAIO Pro 13. I too had it on Balanced mode and during anti-virus scans and during Windows updates, the fan would be quite loud. I could easily hear it from far away. During normal usage, like browsing the Internet and whatnot, the laptop would be pretty much silent.

Ever since I installed windows 10 pro cleanly on my Pro 13 i5, it is a lot quieter and does not go into senseless bouts of fan activity when idle.

I'm at a bit of a loss with my Pro 13. After a seemingly successful clean install of Windows 10, it seems my ssd has died. It's still reported in the bios as '128gb' but absolutely nothing will see it. I'm apprehensive about ordering a new drive and potentially waste more money if it doesn't work. Current drive is the Samsung mzntd128hagm. I've tried 'power cycling' it with no luck.

    Really frustrated.

I have the same drive, working on Windows 10 for quite some time now, so I can confirm is not something related to Windows 10. Have you tried with a live Linux CD, just to see if the drive is there and you can recover/wipe the partitions?

Nothing detects the drive. Ubuntu Live/GParted can't see it, nor can the windows partition tool. I'm fairly sure the drive is dead. I've ordered a Samsung 850 as someone in the comments said they'd fitted it to their Pro 13. I'm not massively hopeful though.

Looks like my Vaio is on the verge of death. The fan rattles tremendously inside the chassis louder than a leaf blower and vibrates the whole machine along with constant crashes and reboots that I can probably attribute to overheating. T'was a good ride Vaio.

You may need to clean up the fan and change the termal paste

I was thinking that, but I also kind of use the issue to rationalize a new purchase.

When the fan goes haywire, the only way to solve it is a hard power off. Thankfully, it boots up quick still.

I don't suppose anyone knows where I can find a reasonably priced genuine replacement battery in the UK?
