Try uninstalling it from programs and features or get to the folder where it is installed and find the uninstall.exe
Or alternatively restore your computer to an earlier point before you installed the hotfix( you will lose any new data after the restoration point)

Previously i had already tested with those 2 games and all works fine. I don't know why it suddently happened. On yesterday. anyone know how to fix it? Need advice. Thx :)

Hi all. I finally purchased my VPCCB190X. I'm trying to get it to connect to my 5gHz wireless network.

However, the laptop can only recognize 2.4gHz networks. Upon opening Viao Smart Network, the reason appears to be because it's set in 2.4gHz mode. The problem is, it doesn't look like there's a 5gHz mode option.

Any ideas? Anyone else having this problem too?

    Thanks.

the two models (CA/CB) only accept 2.4gHz would be interesting to know how to change the wifi model which has by default in the laptop (WiFi: 802.11 b/g/n)

So, I got a call today from Sony, essentially saying that they now have a clear (and long) list of programs that are having issues with their graphics card configuration. They also said that "the engineers are working on a fix." When I pressed for when this fix would be completed, the rep just kept dodging my question, saying that he didn't ask the team for specifics.

So I'm half convinced this won't ever be truly fixed, as Sony has a history of letting these issues just blow over. But hey, maybe they've learned.

    Best,
    Cassy

Can someone speculate as to why Sony wouldn’t have included a wireless card that supports 5gHz? Even my cheap 4 year old laptop supports this… why doesn’t my premium Sony?

I have another question for you. Why kind of laptop bag did you get with the laptop? Did they offered choice between a messenger-type bag & a backpack?

Anyone with the CA or CB try downloading the 8.823 video card driver from the sony website (comes if you search under the Vaio SA drivers)? Does it work? Does it improve anything?

Well, the Sony SA drivers weren't any newer, but I was able to get (non-WHQL) 11.4 drivers working on my system. It seemed to work fine. Anyone interested?

The SA drivers installed just fine on the CA, but they weren't any newer going by the version number of the actual Radeon driver. Still Catalyst 11.2.
I downloaded the following drivers and were able to update my CA w/6630M to 11.4. It should work the same on the CB and SA/SB.

    Hi,

I want to record streaming radio. Usually I did it using Audacity with Stereo mix as a source. How can I have Stereo Mix source and disable microphone in the same time?
No such options in sound devices only microphone.
Is the same situation in CB VAIOs

    Thank you

Hello. I've had my eyes on the the Sony Vaio C Series (VPCCB190X) for a while now and have been eager to order it, especially with the $130 discount. However, after reading through this forum, I've found that the laptop have a problem with switching between the Intel HD and the 6630M. Though I have read that the 6630M often works for some games?

My question is simply, would I be wasting my money by buying the C Series or will Sony fix the problem and I can happily place my order? Please, help. I am desperate as the sale will end on the 18th.

actually if you just wanna use for gaming... it's working great... some problems float when you use it with 3D rendering programs, ex : adobe photoshop, google sketchup, 3Dmax. and the game, which i have issue is just brink ( didn't recognise the AMD card ) therefore it can't initialise

^^ As far as I know, the E series is coming with a disappointing choice of GPU: GT-410M & Intel HD3000. The performance is more or less the same.

Thank you accel for the fast reply. Although I do plan to use the laptop for gaming, this laptop is also meant for college. I will be majoring in electrical engineering. Can I confidently order this laptop and be sure that it will be a wise investment? I am mainly worried about the 6630M not working properly and wasting money on a graphic card that does not function correctly. I have no idea what kind of programs I will use in my major, but I would rather feel safe than sorry.

Thank you in advance for any replies.

The problem has been in existence for a few months now but Sony hasn't released a fix. Wonder whether the new coloured models coming out soon will still have the same issue. What's really strange is that Sony didn't release the CB AT ALL in Europe!! Even the updated E series is up on the order page but STILL NO CB!! Instead, they now offer the F22 without the 3D screen. So I get the feeling that Sony is not very serious with this model and may quickly replace it in the coming months (especially with Ivy Bridge coming along).

Hey guys, i was going throughout the forums and i found this...

The credit goes to Althernai on AMD forums.
AMD Game Forums - PowerXpress, OpenGL and AMD 6770m
Also look at the disclaimer here:
    AMD Dynamic Switchable Graphics Technology
    Here's another example:
    http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3519/t/19381585.aspx

AMD Dynamic Switchable Graphics technology requires either an AMD “A” series APU or an Intel processor, plus an AMD Radeon™ discrete graphics configuration and is available on Windows® 7 Professional, Windows® 7 Ultimate, Windows® 7 Home Premium, and/or Windows® 7 Home Basic OS. Linux OS supports manual switching which requires restart of X-Server to switch between graphics solutions. With AMD Dynamic Switchable Graphics technology, full enablement of all discrete graphics video and display features may not be supported on all systems (e.g. OpenGL applications will run on the integrated GPU or the APU as the case may be). Always check with your system manufacturer for specific mode capabilities and supported technologies.

It seems as if OpenGL applications wont use the discreet GPU. :( I don't know if Sony will be able to implement a fix or not. Here's hoping they are able to.

I've tried this: ATI Radeon? Video Card Drivers

Installs, CCC still shows as 11.5.

I tried updating through the CCC itself. Still stays 11.5.

Tried this: ATI Catalyst? Mobility Display Driver

On the 3rd one: "AMD Catalyst Mobility cannot be downloaded due to incompatible hardware/software on your computer. The version of your graphics adapter is not supported. Please contact your notebook manufacturer for a graphics driver update."

Should I uninstall CCC completely and try one of the 3 above again? Which? Should I uninstall the Radeon graphics and then install the 6630M again from Sony's driver page?

Just noticed that CB (15") is now available on sony.co.uk, what a complete surprise as the main page still has it as only 14" size!!
C Series : VAIO & computing : Sony CTO and 1 retail config.

If Ivy Bridge is the next after Sandy Bridge, then the mobile CPUs will get released in January 2012 and appear in products in spring 2012 (i think that's intel's settled schedule), too long to wait for me^0^*

shame the update E Series doesn't have USB 3.0, and still the 0.3 megapixel camera, and reduced to entry level processor and entry level graphics card..
    C Series is clearly VAIO's medium to high-power segment, and E entry-level

I'm going to get the CB in white, oh so beautiful(!!)
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c9K4KDkV0z4&feature=related
(filmed at Sony Store Nagoya, new VAIO C Black, White designs)

been checking UK/US/JPN/HK/Can so much these past few months^__^
EU do get screwed as usual (!!)

Sugar Jacky are u still interested in CB series??

    Oh! finally!
I was interested in the CB right from the beginning, but the as yet unresolved AMD 6630 graphics problem is keeping me away from it.
I don't game but I do a fair bit of video and photo editing, so proper graphics is important. Now Sony is offering the F22 with Nvidia GT 540M graphics instead of the AMD chip in the CB. So I'm kind of leaning towards it at the moment.

AMD is claiming it's a Sony issue. It's probably a Brink developer issue. Eh, either way, the game absolutely blows.

Its Sony's problem because sony ''customised'' the settings of the GPU's.

Read this on the AMD site. AMD Catalyst? Control Center / AMD Vision? Engine Control Center 11.6 Release Notes: Information on what is included in the new 11.6 download release.

Quote "The following notebooks are not compatible with this release:

Any notebook launched after this driver release
Switchable Graphics enabled notebooks using Intel® chipsets.
Toshiba® notebooks (please contact the notebook OEM for driver support for these notebooks)
Sony® VAIO® notebooks (please contact the notebook OEM for driver support for these notebooks)
Panasonic® notebooks (please contact the notebook OEM for driver support for these notebooks)"

That paragraph is said on most AMD updates.... doesnt mention in the hotfixes strangely
