Could somebody reply, so as to sort this out ?
-
same with mine, i assume you have the same issue then? only the dynamic option on CCC and no fixed or manual option?
i never had problem like that in my vaio... -
You seem to be asking quite a few questions... I'll try to sort through them as best I can.
Your wireless problem sounds like interference rather than a problem with the laptop's wireless setup. Many things operate on the 2.4GHz frequency that most routers use. I recommend that you go into your router settings and switch the channel that it's operating on, as that may help to some extent.
If that does nothing, try your laptop on another router, say at a friend's house and see if you get similar issues. This can help nail down where your problem really lies: with the laptop or the router.

Vaio Updates is entirely crap software. Which update did you install that caused disabled your laptop's trackpad?
-
It seems the Graphics issue has been solved by Sony in the latest batch. Anyone considering buying this laptop can go ahead without worrying of any graphics issue. Just make sure you get one made in July or later.
-
yes it seem so, then i wonder why sony haven't released any of bios update for the older released. do they plan not to support the laptops from the older batch?
Just for a note, my bios version is R0230V2, EC version K0230V2, ME 7.04.1197... The one who doesn't have any problem with graphic issue, please post your bios version -
^^
I believe that a new BIOS update will be released soon.
-
If that's true then I'm relieved... And I don't think that the US released and asia released would be the same... But I'm hoping it is the same, so it would be easier
-
Thanks for the reply .
Yes, it turned out to be a router configuration issue, which has been resolved now .
-
I updated quite a few of the updates available . Don't know, which one of them cropped the track pad issue . The Pointer movement became jerky intermittently ( it did not get disabled though ).
-
Really?!
No one has had any experience with Ubuntu on this machine?
Please help! -
Thanks for this... ok. i will do it...
-
Sony Vaio VPCCB 17FX (of course, switchable method)
-
i hope someone can help me overcome the OpenGL error when i launch Angry Birds Rio....
-
switchable graphic method and switchable graphic is not the same see in your CCC power section... which one do you have?
-
@accel. if i check the bottom ,it ask which gpu to use everytime i open an application..
i haven't encountered a problem for any game except Sniper Ghost Warrior..i played crysis2,assassin creed 1,batman arkham asylum,NeedforSpeed Hot Pursuit, james bond Bloodstone,Kane And Lynch Dog Days - 2,prince of persia 4,Splinter Cell Conviction...everything works fine....i love my laptop...hope it wont create a problem in future...
how can i know which version of ccc i'm using...i installed 11.7..where do i check it?
thanks

yes it's the problematic bios you have... hmm, you can't use OpenGL programs i assume... if you can, it use intel, not the AMD...
all the game you said it is using DX not OpenGL, try OpenGL program, like angry bird RIO... you'll have the same result as most of us -
i installed angry bird RIO and it plays fine...on intel i think..the popup windows comes up and i click configure..then it disappear..i dont know which gpu is used.it won't show on ccc...reply
Good game actually.
thanks
bipin -
hmm, i'm wrong about your bios, yours is an update from mine, maybe, hmm, when did you buy this laptop? i know that this laptop has issues in their first batch... march - may ( before the new colors out ) when the new colors out, the issue is solved by sony, but they haven't released a bios update for the older batch, damn them
-
i bought it on june 24...i talked to sony service in kerala today.they haven't released any bios update..he asked me to look under software patches of this laptop in the support page..
@accel..nowthat u said my lap has the latest bios ,can u explain to me whats "setting the interchangeable graphics mode to manual an dynamic" means?..when i open any application or games, a popup ask me to select power saving or high performance option..is that it?my last post shows that window..
thanks
bipin -
^^
Your laptop does not have any graphics switching issue
. You need not worry about any BIOS update.
Only those who bought this laptop early are waiting for the BIOS update. Hopefully Sony will release an update soon. -
i just talked with sony chat a few days ago, and they didn't know this issue... i've use sony chat once a week... and they dont even recognise this issue? what the hell?
-
Does it mean i can play opengl games?
-
yes i think so, if the problem of switching really didn't exist in your laptop
-
As i said before, only one game caused the problem..Sniper Ghost Warrior...the intro video was stuck..Then the main menu page..so i uninstalled it...everything else works fine...
thanks
bipin -
sniper ghost warrior uses openGL... could you try to configure the switchable graphic to high performance?
-
Do you think Sony chat reps have any clue about what's going on ? They are useless. Don't just go by Sony reps being aware/ignorant of the issue.
-
well, at least sony could make an announcement that fix coming in along. that way, we would be wating patiently...
-
Sorry,,but i can play sniper ghost warrior..i forgot to switch the power option to high performance..its working now...most of the games i use balanced option...
-
sorry i just tried angry bird and i can play it flawlessly... hmm, i'll try to see which graphic card is being used..
I just confirmed it, it uses intel. Could you. ( Bipin) use gpu z when u play angry bird to see whether if the amd card is working? Mine's not working, which mean it uses intel
@larry, could you try revert back to the CCC come with your laptop ? and try angry bird again? it could be the new CCC messed up -
I have the one wich appears POP-UP to choose for each application (save or high), i can see Recent Applications config...
-
mine too...
-
how do i know if the webcam that came in my laptop has the EXMOR feature? Mine does not come with the sticker on the side of the camera saying it has this feature, it just say HD webcam or something like that (I doesn't have my laptop right now to verify).
-
hmm, it's dynamic ones you two have, it should be having problem with OpenGL programs at the moments, could you try application with OpenGL? such as adobe suite, draw a model with many 3D capabilities, and you'll see lags all over...
it defaults in intel, where it should be in AMD... you could try download GPU - Z to make sure which one of your graphic card is working ( If AMD card is working, it would have a fluctuation in core speed and memory ) if it's not working then it would be 0 in core speeds -
Sorry, I could install a Ubuntu partition, but I don't really want one on this laptop. I read somewhere that their were driver issues with Ubuntu on the C series, but unfortunately I can't find where I read that now (pretty sure it was a random linux forum though).
Best,
Cassy -
I'm a bit unconvinced on this point, I'd have to see a dxdiag readout (run on high performance) to be certain that this issue has been resolved in the newer versions.
Best,
Cassy -
@ cassy
I think that, the issue were solved if the newer models really has the manual / fixed switchable... Alternatively, you could check it when you buying it...
We'll need more samples from the newer models to determine, if the newer models, really has the fixed switchable, or it just a fault driver / bios from sony
I just tested WoW, it's in the list of openGL programs, but, AMD is working when I started the program, I haven't log in though.. Don't have a connection atm...
I'll try running it on OpenGL later...
update tested, OpenGL really don't work on AMD...
if bipin / MSSXXI or anyone who bought theirs in july could check on WoW, or another application that uses OpenGL using GPU-Z i would really grateful, that is to determine if the issue were gone or not -
hey accel, you're right, i can now play angry birds
i reinstalled the AMD drivers came from Sony
-
Hi all,
Would someone please clarify the version numbers for the "old" bios and the "new" bios? I want to check my version to know if I should anticipate graphics card problems in the future.
Thanks in advance. -
i was able to switch from intel and amd in the bottom of this cpu-Z...
i didn'tunderstand much...pls tell me more details..
When i opened this app,it asked me for powersaving or high performance popup..i used high performance...
thanks
bipin -
^^
The AMD 6630 is active and the HD3000 is not being used.
-
Suggest me a small openGl using app..so i can try it out for u..i have photoshop cs3 installed in my lap...can i use that to test the photoshop problems somebody mentioned earllier...happy to help
and explain Wow...World of Warcraft?
Dxdiag for Cassy101...popup came when i opened it,nothing came when i click configure, nothing on power option of ccc.So i couldnt switch it to high performance..
thanks

DxDiag seems to be not recognizing the AMD GPU. But somehow the AMD GPU is the one that is actually working in your system as shown by the CPU-Z screenshots. So I think its more of an issue with Windows DXDiag than a switching issue.
Its clear by the CPU-Z info that the AMD GPU is indeed functioning and the Intel HD3000 IGP is inactive.
Bipin, disable the Intel HD3000 in Device Manager and then try running Angry Birds Rio under high performance. -
This error came..

Hmm. That means you DO have an issue with the graphics switching
-
can somebody else also try this out and share ...
thanks
bipin -
I don't have much idea about how this whole graphics "switching" works but what if you guys revert to an AMD only setup ? By completely getting rid of the Intel IGP and graphics switching ? Did anyone try that ? Remove all the Intel HD 3000 Graphics drivers and then disable it and remove the Graphics switching software and only install AMD Catalyst basic drivers.
-
graphic switching works more like this, the driver is mix, if you disable intel, than the AMD would be disable too...
@ bipin could you try angry bird rio and give us the AMD's GPU-Z screen shot of sensor ?
mine is not working.. -
that's what we want to clarify...
