    I have Sony VAIO VPCCB190X my BIOS version is a R0230V2 and i have problem with switching. In CCC i can't even see AMD GPU( CPU-Z detect only Intel GMA in graphics panel. And i buy my vaio in march, 28. So, limited edition all have this problem, or it hapenns randomly?

    wierd, your AMD card works on RIO, when it dont works, the AMD card sensors, would be at 0 always, and not detectable in temp...

    same with mine, most of may - june have this problem... i assume that this issue has been solved in the newer model batch... but we dont have samples to prove that...

    Bipin check if the 6630M works with photoshop. :). Angry birds is fine for you, using the AMD GPU.

    if you have CCA/ CCB laptops on newer models, you can help us identify the bios version, they uses.. if we have 5 - 10 laptops of newer models, than i think it safe to say that sony has fix this problem..

    newer Models : CCA/ CCB Laptops with newer colors than ours ( latest batch, production of july )

    as i said before, sony made this laptop to be muxless, intel and AMD couldn't be disable each other. if you disable one, you would be using VGA standard by windows

    just say if you make a model with 3D capabilities in photoshop, and see what GPU-Z gave you... do AMD work? if its works then, you have fully capable AMD with switchable graphic, unlike the rest of us

    seems like you have a problematic bios as well

    same as mine i assume, my bios version is R0230V2, EC version K0230V2, ME 7.04.1197

    So, on my laptop Bios is Aptio setup utility AMI BIOS. It's an American Megatrends brand. Version on my laptop R0230V2, so logic to suggest that new version is R0231 or R0230V3. but best is try to find any user with new lap and ask him) I live in Russia, so for me it's hard) We have only VAIO Europe support models.

    In mux technology Videocards don't works without each other. Best is download 3D Mark '11 Basic and check the bench. It checking all of GPU options and capabilities. If you run it with AMD))

    You are getting it all wrong. The Intel HD3000 is never inactive, even if the AMD GPU is running.

    Read this: FAQ: If you are thinking or have ordered your DV6/7 61xx read here for answers on switchable graphics

    Ofcourse you can work on it, the difference when you're using intel or amd is, the lags when you models are complicated... If your model is just a rectangle, ofcourse intel HD 3000 would able to handle it perfectly... The model must be complicated, if it is full of lag, then it uses intel, and vice versa

    I can't fathom out what's working and what isn't - when i right click the desktop i just see 'Catalyst Control Center' in the menu but clicking on it does nothing. CCC doesn't open (it used to). Anyway i've tried using CPUz with Photoshop CS4 and WoW. I don't know what the readings mean but ...

    somebody noticed this problem? Vaio update not working.? - Yahoo! Answers
    I have it also, and the sony page for vpccb190x drivers does not have any new update for "vaio update" software. I think is a problem with their servers, maybe they are adding new updates and its not complete yet, i don't know...

    If you have in dxdiag AMD GPu you are lucky) Your problem now is switching performance in appliations. If you use manual swith you may set for all application your GPU - intel or amd. Now you have a dynamic switching i guess

    nope, i think that his AMD is working fine... see his DX DIAG? it says AMD card with ATI TECH

    different with ours, we use intel with ati tech.

    @elektrobix

    could you open WoW in OpenGL mode... see what's changing? post the result of the GPU-Z please? and one other thing. when did you buy yours? and what's your bios version?

    make a shortcut, in that shiortcut properties, at target,

    add (sp)-opengl

    sp = space

    so if your target is "C://Program Files/ Blizzard Entertainment/Wow.exe"

    make it like this "C://Program Files/ Blizzard Entertainment/Wow.exe" -opengl

    and have you happen install anything? might be you messed up the intel part

    driver or hotfix from AMD?

    Hey people looks like we are getting updates this week or next... I had a chat with a sony support analyst, it was about that vaio update error... she told me that the vaio vpccb190x was supposed to get new updates on the past friday, but they had a problem with the XML file of the updates, but they are solving that and next week everything will be ready for download. That is what caused the issues with the vaio update software... Cross your fingers for that bios update or anything that solves our problem with the graphic cards...

    It's not that surprisingly, you use another driver, not the one provided by sony... And texture filtrate is changing according your activity, not sure about the bus width, cos it meant the bus do you have... it should be 128 bit this 6630M

    Hmm, it seems that your amd is running on angry birds which is opengl.. Could you post your bios version? And do you have WoW? I tried the D3D , it works perfectly, but when I change the D3D to openGL, its picture is like crap. I use GPU-Z to make sure, and amd is not running

    Post your BIOS version no. That will clear up whether or not you can run Brink.

    @accel
    3D Mark11 I assume ? Intel HD3000 cannot be used for it as it is only a DX10 card. 3DMark 11 runs only on DX11 cards. And the score you have got is right for an AMD6630M/Nvidia GT540M.

    Yes 3DMark11 may show it uses Intel HD3000 but it actually does not, as Intel HD3000 does not support DX11 and even if somehow HD3000 is used the score will not be so high, equivalent to Nvidia GT540M.

    For 3d mark main that dx11 INSTALLED on your machine. DX11 supports all older dx and gpu, so if you haven't install DX 11, so 3D mark don't work. If it works, so you have dx 11, but what gpu on ur machine doesn't matter

    See as i said earlier, if the HD3000 is indeed used it will not score the points that an AMD6630M or Nvidia GT540M score in the benchmark. Do you understand my point ? So even if it shows that Intel HD3000 is used, that is misindentification.
    AMD6630M and Nvidia GT540M score around 900 in 3DMark 11. That is what accel got.

    Yes because you ran the test at 1024x600. The standard test resolution is 1280x720. The lower the resolution, higher the score. Your score is also normal. :)
