no i can play angrybird rio but the it is just the AMD not working

and i bought this laptop is 11th of april 2011

 

if it's just for playing movie, i think it's not too significant.. if you could can you try the WoW?

in D3D mode ( default ) and OpenGL mode when you're using dynamic and fixed? you could see the difference...

no it's because of the hotfix... it makes the AMD on all the time even when youre only on desktop... it's like the laptops without switchable. which shake the minimum clock when it's not being use. in 6630M it's 100 core clock and 150 memory clock as your SS indicate

but it didn't help in the OpenGL issue, you could check it... i checked it twice..

every OpenGL software is not working on the AMD...

 

So "valrond" has a newer BIOS version with fixed switching.

Why doesn't Sony provide us with the above BIOS update?

 

Seriously guys we all need to write to sony to get this update. If enough of us do it they will probably listen. Lets get moving on the complaints to Sony...

Is it recommended to proceed with this update ?

EDIT: Tried using the updater. It says that this computer cannot be updated. The updater checks the model no.

Since they already have a working BIOS fix, we need to write to them to provide it to us too.

 

Im going to check this later. Please tell me you can find a way for fixed mode fron that file? Right now ccc only allows for high performance or power saver but im trying to just find a way to completely shut down the radeon because i need better battery life on this thing.

Is it not possible ti get the newer bios off the users who have it and install it on our CB's??

Even I was wondering the same thing. I have installed MAC OSX Lion alongwith Windows on this machine but battery life is pathetic on OSX since the AMD card draws power in OSX.

Ya i just tried the bios update from the link above, wont work on my custom built CB model...

So i guess we really are screwed

 

That update file can extract with 7Zip.
Then can access update batch file direct.

The batch file written.

If that BIOS doesn't work at mine(VPCCB190X),my vaio will be gone?

When your computer was brand new before you installed any updates, did you have the manual switching option in CCC?

What is your current version of CCC? Are you using the 11.5b hotfix?

 

Can you try this and see if it works for you??

Hi, i also having the OpenGL problems like everyone else here... I been looking for fix..I would be happy to wait for sony or ATI to provide update but it seems like no one taking responsibility for it. I am bit worried that it might be a hardware design fault, making it harder to fix via software update, hopefully that not the case...anyway i found this on another site

Just wondered if anyone tried the driver above? I plan on trying it tonight when i get home from work, I am assuming that CA will be the same for CB as mine is the CB15F

 

no it won't work, i tried it... still the same CCC, and OpenGL problem still exists

by the way, if it is hardware design fault, sony can ordered the recall... but they didn't even bother... what a shame... the last time i bought a sony i suppose

 

Ok thxs, it turning out to be a bit frustrating, i only got 1 program using OpenGL at the moment, but it just as pains as future stuff i get might not work...

 

Yeah you're right, this is frustating... I can't even do my job properly, I always use my home pc to do the job. Might as well, carry my home pc to my office... sony, you're money grubber...

They know this issue, but refuse to fix it. See, the 290X, it is an updated version of 190X, from what I know, it has switchable graphic methods, that HP use

 

Can we please just all WRITE to Sony about this? If everyone would speak up maybe Sony will give us the bios fix we need.

 

in my country, sony didn't even care... i've write tons of emails to them, and the BBB, but still no reply and even if there's a reply, it's just some kind of no update from sony corp on at the moment... sony suck

 

What we really need are some bios experts/hackers who can hack the exe file on the bios update for the newer CB so it will bypass checking the model and just install on the original CB's.

Anyone here capable of trying it or know anybody who can?

 

1- may you please let me know why do I need to switch to high perfromance GPU to play minecraft? I mean why I cannot use intel? on my desktop at work i played free minecraft without any problem (even without a lag) although the desktop has only intel, i think. Why I cannot play minecraft on my vaio CB using intel?

2- It will great if someone know why there is a lag when i play the free classic minecraft on my CB (when i use mouse to change view, but moving forward, backward, right, left is ok)? is it a problem with the graphics?

3- I tried the cam and it is not very good. The image is dark and granulated? when captured, it is granulated. does anyone have this issue or know how to solve this?

I have tried using this driver as above http://dl.dropbox.com/u/22674757/ATI_11.6_W7x64_Alien9_switchable_v3.exe and definitely noticed an improvement on the opengl game that i was having problems with, i not really sure how to tell which graphics is running....but anyway for me the above drive is much better than the sony one!

 

That photo was an old one...i reinstalled my lap two days ago..i didnt installed any other new driver..infact i asked whether to do it or not,no one answered..
So without the hotfix..these r the photos..pls look into it and comment..
And where can i see which version of ccc im currently installed..[11.5 ,11.8 likewise].My driver version in device manager is 8.811.1.0 Driver date is 06-01-2011..

I cannot play Brink...If u wanna check other openGl programs pls provide a link.i haven't played WOW.I dont know which one to download.

my only comment, is intel always get 0 in clock, because its clock in it's processor clock... if you want me to comment, please take the GPU-Z sensors on AMD section

hotfix made your AMD working like the old laptops with only 1 GPU. core clock always 100 and memory clock 150

 

because it update the intel ones too, AMD definitely not working... if you want to check, please give me a ss of GPU-Z ( AMD ) while you are playing your game.

yes ,u r right...core clock changed to 100MHz and always stays there...

Info : I shrinked my c drive to two partitions when i got my lap.When i formated it,the two partitions become one 500GB ...So copy the data to external HDD before restoring windows...

And i would like to try and install MAC OS in my lap...Can some one help me.

hmm, you could just using advanced mode when formatting... it would be able to change into 2 partition, although the C: partition must be 64GB...

 

You'll have to format your whole HDD if you want to install OSX. Your HDD is formatted with MBR partition table which is used by Windows as default. OSX needs HDD to be formatted with GPT partition Table. Windows 7 64-bit can also boot from GPT HDD.

To convert MBR to GPT, the whole HDD has to be wiped out. So you need to backup your data onto another place.

I can play Angry Birds Rio just fine. I hope i am running the right Angry Bird. Any other Open GL app i should be testing ?

 

could you try download a model of photoshop / google sketchup? with a complex 3D? like a chateau or a castle?

 

1. if you can play minecraft without problem. then you don't need to set to high performance
2.it might be the intel is not powerful enough to render minecraft perfectly
3. i don't think there's a way,. a better choice just buy an usb webcam

hmm... i think it's working... even if you're using hotfix, there's only 100 in coreclock and 150 in memory clock... if you can, could you try downloading WoW and try the openGL mode?

and if you can, could you use the stock driver? so i can see the difference with mine

 

Ok i ll try that. Personally I havent had an issue with any program so far, and i think mine is from one of the earlier builts. What should i expect if its not working and how would i know if its working.

 

WoW is easy to determine..

when in the default, the WoW.exe renders in D3D mode which use direct X and can use the AMD in high performance

and when in OpenGL, in mine VPPCCA16FG, there's lags all over...

Hi all,

I extracted newest bios for ca and cb models. If someone wants to try, do it at your own risk. Nothing modified or changed inside the archive, just extracted. Run WBFLASH application and be sure to backup everything before trying. Checking of model is skipped this way.

1- i can play minecraft ONLY when I switch the graphics to high performance (I could not play it on intel)

2- i am playing minecraft it on high performance, which i think should be powerful enough?

3- does anyone else have probelm with the webcam giving granulated images?

4- my desktop, has intel graphics with 3D. Why sony did not have this (i mean only intel graphics with 3D instead of 2 cards?)

Does all sony laptops come with intel without 3D? i mean some models of CB come with intel card 3000only, are these do not suuport 3D?

i can open this file in google sketchup too.but my gpu cloack speed is 0MHz and memory clock is 27mhz in gpuz.i didnt install any hotfix...
