    @manoja

I never experience it, atleast in microsoft office / programs that I use... is it always happen? What kind of programs that you experience the keyboard lagging?

No, sony don't have any keyboard setting like sensivity or something like that...

Try using usb keyboard or wireless, and type. If the same problem occurs, then it is software thing, and nothing wrong on the hardware side

I get 5.5 hrs with backlight set to lowest setting when using the intel card on the new bios.

Install it, it will definitely improve your battery life when set to intel GPU.

Can anybody detail the clean installation process for VPCCB17FG ? I have updated my Bios .

After installing the OS, do the loading of the Drivers have to be in a particular sequence ? Have all the Drivers & the patches need to be loaded or r some to be skipped ( http://www.sony.co.in/support/product/vpccb17fg )? Also, does one need to reboot, after each Driver is loaded ?

Any other caution to be observed ? What applications & utilities r being normally loaded & which one's r being given a skip ?

hey guys, I have extensively searched the net for answers but to no avail. I know you guys are the best.

I installed a 32 bit windows 7 to my new CB because there are some programs I can't run on 64. But now I have some problems with the graphics card, it says I have the standard VGA graphics adapter.

I have downloaded the amd catalyst for the 32 version but it's not solving anything. Windows can't turn on aero mode and itunes won't display artwork.

anyone has any idea how to get the most of the AMD HD 6330 on win 7 32-bit?

or do I have to use my recover discs?

    thanks in advance :)

    Hi!

Someone asked earlier in this forum about battery over 6 hours. With new bios, backlit keyborad always on, wirelless on and screen brightness set to automatic mine is 6h 23 min now. In idle mode it would reach about 8 hours or so but no point in that...
And system uptime is only 5 seconds!

So it is not bad at all...

    Good luck,
    Alex

Thats insane! I have the new bios and my system has the 2450m ( which im assuming should only cut off a very small bit of battery) and with backlit keyboard on auto and screen brightness to lowest setting with intel gpu mode i only manage to get 5 hrs and 30 min max. Wifi is on and not even using ut for much sound or video playback. Im also using the standard capacity 5300Mah battery, not the larger one.

What do you think the problem is? I dont have an ssd just regular 500gb 7200 rpm hdd. I could try screen brightness on auto but i dont think that wouls help because i already got the backlight set manually at the lowest brightness setting...

wow... the reason why I didn't get the CB (I like Dynamic Switchable over manual switching - just a bad habit I picked up from Optimus :(), was because some reviews were bashing the battery life at some 3 hours

Probably because they reviewed it before the new bios which allows for manual switching of the GPU.

Before the new bios i only got about 4 hours battery life.

I tried to do clean install . Windows loaded well . There were no issues . As soon, as i started loading the utilities, i started getting a message that " the Battery is not compatible or loose & press OK to let the computer Hibernate " or something similar . I tried to restart, but this message repeated again & again & finally i had to revert back using the Recovery Partition .

Please note that i have an updated Bios ( for switchable graphics ) .

Can somebody tell me, what went wrong & also let me know the step by step method for a clean install .

    All help would be appreciated
    .

I think i just realized my mistake . I was trying to load the original utilities of VPCCB 17FG model, instead of the using the Vaio shared Library & utilities detailed by Aleksandras for VPCCB290X .

Correct me, if i am wrong .

R u guys able to adjust the brightness, after using the CCB290x utilities ? With back light set to auto, i think it is not possible to adjust the brightness of the screen through the "adjust screen brightness" function ( the one, which u get after clicking on the Battery icon ) .

...............also, with the utilities of CCB290x, u get the function of Back lit in VCC, but it does not seem to work .

I own a Viao CB with the 15.6" 1080P screen that I recently cracked by accident. I ordered a new one from laptopscreen.com. The model number of the screen in my laptop is LP156WF1(TL)(C1). I just got the screen in the mail today and saw that it was (TL)(E2) not (TL)(C1) so I called the company and the guy told me that this is the exact same screen but that it was just the new make of the screen and assured me that it would work. I plugged the new screen in and screwed it back together, but when I turned it back on......nothing, just blank. Is there anything else I need to do? Thanks!

Has anyone managed to install the AMD Catalyst Display Driver 11.9
or another version newer than the default,

I ask because in the current Catalyst Control Center (under 'Standard View')
Desktops and Displays > Advanced Display Settings

    there is only one option:
    ('Display Detection Option')

There are no GPU scaling options which are present in many example screenshots on the net,

you can see lots & lots of useful options in GPU-68: Unable to set GPU Scaling option in ATI Catalyst? Control Center
unfortunately my CCC doesn't look like that or have all those lovely options(!!)

I need such a basic option because in Battlefield 3 beta when I select a resolution lower than 1920x1080 (this screen's native resolution) it will have black border on all 4 sides ('underscan' I've found it to be called),
(happens even on HDMI connection to HDTV..)

I thank anyone who can inform me if a version we can install on our VAIOs will give me that option of GPU scaling

mine says 'Version 2011.0106.1235.22490' (seemingly totally no relation to these '11.something' CCC..

    thankyou,

If you would like to enable two-finger scrolling & such other gestures supported by Synaptics Touchpad, then uninstall the craappy Touchpad drivers that Sony has provided & download the OEM drivers off the Synaptics site.

    Hi all,

I remember previously asking about the difference between i5 and i7 and i got mixed response. But most suggested similar speed. Now, I am confused between two i5 and I really appreciate your help please.

Does anyone know if there a big difference between:

i5 2410M and with i5 2430M ? do you advice to go for the newer one. It is about ~£50 extra.

    Thank you in advance.
