The Haswell is amazing. Currently I own last year Vaio Z 13" and to this date, I am yet to see anything like it. Well designed and pretty fast but I am looking forward to the new Vaio Duo 13. I hope not only to see the photos and to see the earlier release date.

A quick hands on or preview it seems

Impressive!
I want one of those !!! -
I saw new pics of low-range Sony phone being announced at Computex but no news on laptop?
-
Because Sony hasn't had their event yet.
-
^^^^^^^^^^^^
when is it ? -
There are a couple of things I don't like from the DUO 13 vs the DUO 11:
No VGA or Ethernet ports (I use those when I'm working)
All of the ports are on the rear of the laptop, so they will collide with your legs when you put it on your lap. -
Here is a new demonstration video! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xSgv1lK2Vzk
-
And a post with a few new informations, like price: Sony announces the Haswell-powered VAIO Pro and VAIO Duo Series | PCWorld
-
June 9th in what market. Man that is a wonderful device. at least in the video
-
It's amazing, isn't it? Looks very well made. The only doubt is about pen technology, I don't think that will be Wacom, but if n-trig, is a new model.
-
Ah well I suppose no problem now that PcWorld has broken the launch schedule.
Sony's event is tomorrow (the 5th) with various launches across the globe and will be available in the UK before the end of the month -
I've read the the E and most of the T series will be replaced by the Fit so the only model with a full voltage CPU will be the S series. I've spoken to a rep and he said they might discontinue it, is this true? If so then all vaios will be ULV which doesn't make sense to me.
-
Looking REALLY GOOD.
More photos here (in Chinese) -
it brings tears to my eyes.
-
I agree entirely. As there's no docking station, it's great that the ports on the Duo 11 are on the side - it's much easier to plug in and out.
Looking at the pictures of the Duo 13, does it have a sim-card slot at the back? That would be nice if that's true. -
This is what it looks like, would be nice
-
And still only HDMI for digital video out which is likely still limited to 1920x1200. With the new faster Haswell graphics, I want support for higher resolution external monitors.
-
Thanks a lot
does anyone know if there will be a live stream for tomorrow sony event ? -
-
Google Translate
It looks like the release date in Europe will be 24th of June.
Also, old links to this German web site are back again.

Awesome refresh. Well done Sony. I think this one's going to be a winner for them!
-
I'm very impressed with the Engadget's battery test.
-
How on Earth you make 1399$ to be 1499€?
I did a quick google and it's 1070€. Even adding VAT, it shouldn't be more than 1300€
If it's 1500€ with 4GB of RAM and 128 GB SSD, then it can be as pretty and as good as you want, it'll stay on sony store, even more taking into account I can get that 8GB and 256 SSD with the DUO 11 for like 1200€. -
VAIO® Duo 13 Developer's interview
the price is premium so I might nit buy at launch and wait a view month
and one question the i5 model will come with 4GB ram so can I upgrade that on the future to 8GB ?Last edited by a moderator: May 12, 2015 -
If it is anything like the DUO 11, then you won't be able to upgrade, because the RAM is soldered to the motherboard.
-
This is the price to pay for a slimmer more integrated package it seems. Definitely liking what Sony did here, the stress testing is crazy, it looks quite durable. The battery results are shocking and a response to the poor battery life on the duo 11. I feel this will be replacing my S13A, which although great seems to lack the screen I always wanted.
In europe the highest end HD is the 4400 while in the US, it might ship with a HD5000 according some reviews unless that is a typo, hopefully the price won't be the killer here, which I fear it might -
Where did you get that info on the HD 4400 and 5000?
Ok, I got it. It's already on Sony's UK store. -
I meant to write, it might come in the US with a HD5000, but not 100% sure on this, the euro models max out at 4400 HD since the CPU that is the highest available in the models only comes with the HD 4400, sorry I should have been more clear.
-
So basically, we Europeans get raped again by Sony, getting a slower and more expensive computer.
-
hmmm, I guess I'll need to buy the i7 version (or i5 ,8gb ram option)
-
Any of you folks live in the US? Engadget said release date on June 9th but then I watch that Sony rep which said end of June and beginning of July? waiting will be painful.
-
Well the info comes from the press release
So perhaps this means the website will have it on the 9th, and actual laptops will be arriving later on in the stores? -
I don't live in the US , sorry
but on this video he said late june to july

Sony's VAIO Duo 13 takes on the sliding, shape-shifting convertible once again (hands-on) | The Verge -
I just bought the duo 11 a week ago....now they coming with the 13!
Should I return the 11 and wait for the duo 13? The battery life is such a big difference!! -
Onsale online i.e. preorder vs. actual available date are two different things.
-
It depends. I'm considering getting another Duo 11 if they blow them out ...
-
It is rather confusing, I personally hope the models are available sooner
Personally I would replace the 11, you get better sturdier build, larger size, bigger battery, almost similar footprint to the 11 and new haswell cpu
-
I was shooting for Duo 11 last year when it came out but screen was little small for me now 13 is perfect. The new one has upgraded components and unless you got the great deal off your Duo 11 or you like smaller screen, I would recommend upgrading.
I couldn't resisit and went to Sony store and played with Duo 11 and its very nice and that makes me not patience in waiting to get my hands on the Duo 13. -
I got the duo 11 as a gift. At first I thought the duo 13 would be quite a bit bigger than the 11 becuase of the screen size and I do want a small screen laptop. But now looking at the pictures the 13 is just a tad bigger.....plus thr battery! With the sheet battery the duo 11 will be so much heavier.
I suppose I could return it with a stocking fee and get the 13 when its on sale...but when is it going to be? There are so many dates floating around.
Also the base model only comes with 128gb hard disk....I want the 256 version and who knows how much its gonna be!
This is very frustrating for me and I am so mad at myself for being mad at something so stupid
-
Knowing the price in Canada, I feel a 256gb ssd will be $400 more to the base price
I hope I am wrong.
-
me too. I can still stick with 128GB as I don't use the whole thing and I can always get SD card as alternative. how do you guys feel about the LTE option?
-
That's a really nice option...though pricey one. This will be nice cuz I don't have tethering service on my cell phone.
-
Well, it depends on what you need:
VAIO 13:
Newer
Longer battery (about the same as the DUO 11 with the optional battery)
Better screen, keyboard, hinge, cpu/gpu and has a touchpad
Worse connectivity (lack of VGA and ethernet, all of the ports at the back)
More expensive -
An adapter is provided into the box, HDMI to VGA
-
The main thing for me is the longer battery life without the added weight. I'm okay with the optical node thing on the duo 11.
I didn't know the screen is better...I thought it was the same! I'm good with the duo 11 screen anyways.
What I really want is the LTE support on the duo 13. I do go on the road sometimes and internet connection would be nice. Currently I'm doing everything on my phone.
