Well, it's better, with the trilumos or whatever it is the technology it has. Also, some users on this forum are reporting some ghosting problems with the DUO 11 screen.
But is you what the LTE, then by all means, return it, spend a bit more and get the 13
I prefer the longer battery life without the weight and bulk, but I'm not sure if overall it's better for me than the duo 11.
-
So I just checked Sony.com site and on the older Duo 11 for $170 you can upgrade from 128GB SSD to 256GB but 512GB is $820 more from 128GB.
$170 for i7 from i3.
about $60 for 8GB ram frmo 4GB.
So for about $450 extra on top, you get a nice edition but it is little under $2,000 which is alot but its premium stuff. and of course that local tax fills out the gap up to $2,000 for me.
every vids I have watched says June 9 for the US and I have a feeling that I will be disappointed next Sunday since they are still having the Duo 11 on the homepage. crossing fingers. -

if STC or Mobily have the same abilities and resources as at&t they would do the same (but thankfully they can't , now they just buy sims and I put it on any device I want (they also buy phones but like a retailers ,unlocked and full price and no pre-installed software )
-
but... isn't there any ethernet adapter?
-
I've been looking at so many photos and videos of this gorgeous machine but one question is stuck in my mind - where's the power button on this thing???
There's hardware volume keys and a Vaio Assist button on the bottom edge but I don't see any power button anywhere... -
If there's one thing that would've made this absolutely 100% perfect, it would be having the Sony logo on the top/back edge backlit (like the Apple logo on Macbooks) - a small thing by my god would that have been the icing on the cake!
-
I imagine the opening angle angle doesn't allow for a comfy use with the device sitting on your belly while laying flat on the couch!???
Cheers

I feel it should be bundled with the laptop, along with the hdmi to vga convertor, because knowing Sony, they might price it ridiculously.

I like Sony bundling a HDMI to VGA adaptor in their higher models.
But Honestly, Now that Haswell supports thunderbolt why oh why couldn't they just stick a thunderbolt port on the back. It would of solved everyone's problems from HDMI, VGA, DVI, Ethernet, Firewire and also provide handy hook-ups for docks.
Sometimes I just don't know what manufacturers are thinking when it comes to designing convertibles, if you are making a premium product (and pricing it at a premium) why not just add on the latest tech instead of trying to get away with the bare minimum. It really is a toss up between (at the moment) the Duo 13 or the XPS 11 -
I keep seeing that it has GPS, even on the lowest end model according to the website. Does that mean I can use full on location services and precise mapping even if I don't have the 3G/4G capabilities (i.e. is it basically like a satnav)?

I know many of you don't live in the US but I thought I should share this link there it says:
Sony Corporation of America -
Sony Vaio Duo 13 US = $1399
Sony Vaio Duo 13 EU = 1499

I love the design of the Duo 13, and since day one my biggest complaint with the Duo 11 was the fact that they did not use a larger screen and instead opted for so much bezel.
My concerns with the Duo 13 are minor.
1. I can't believe that they placed the headphone jack on the back of the machine. That seems downright ridiculous.
2. I'm also concerned about the trackpad, but if I could adjust to the optical nub on the 11, I'm guessing this will be a non-issue (although intuition tells me that the nub and physical buttons on the 11 should be more capable at things like scrolling and copy-paste then a tiny trackpad lacking separate buttons).
All in all, a part of me wants to trade my Duo 11 in, but I've been so happy with the Duo 11, that I feel like I'd be better off waiting for the next generation of machines. -
I have decided to keep the duo 11...can't really justify spending more money on a new laptop. Plus I got a free sheet battery for the duo 11....hopefully that will solve my batter life issue! -

I am very interested in a getting this computer but my concerns lie with the faith of Windows 8 tablet and the screen resolution when using it as a laptop.
This computer is great in theory because it can serve as both a laptop and a tablet. So ideally I can get work done on it as a laptop and use it casually for apps as a tablet.
With using it as a laptop, my concern is that the resolution is too high for a 13inch. From your experience do you have to constantly zoom in while reading text or working on documents in the desktop mode?
With regards to using it as a tablet, I’ve read reports such as this one that the windows 8 apps are not taking off:
Windows 8 users ignoring 'Modern/Metro' apps: Soluto | ZDNet
I was hoping popular apps like Facebook, HBO Go, etc. would make it to Windows 8 metro, but now I’m worried that developers, and eventually Microsoft, might start abandoning the Metro/Tablet mode, rendering most of the Windows 8 tablet benefits obsolete. What do you guys think?
Thanks. -
As far the windows, you can still use it like Windows 7 specially from win8.1 there will be more feature like win7 in there.
Metro is OK for me and don't care much for it. But at the end, depends on what kind of work you are doing this laplet could work towards your advantage or disadvantage. But as long as I am concern, it will be a great choice for type of work i do. -

For US buyers.

And yet nothing on their website. -
To be fair, June 9th is tomorrow

For those of you who have the Duo 11, does the fact that you cannot adjust the screen angle get annoying? I'm concerned that I would want to sometimes adjust the screen more vertically when typing at times.

GREAT NEWS FOR USA CUSTOMERS!!! I FOUND A SECRET LINK TO THE VAIO DUO 13 PAGE ON SONY USA - TYPED IN POSSIBLE DUO 13 LINKS AND EVENTUALLY WORKED!
Sony VAIO Duo 13 Configure-to-Order Laptops | Sony USA
WE'RE GETTING THE CORE I7 4650 WITH HD 5000 GRAPHICS! LOOKS OFFICAL, CHECK OUT THE LINK (NOT OFFICALLY LIVE YET) -
About 2000$ for model with 8Gb of ram, 256 SSD and i7 with intel HD5000 actually looks like a reasonable price for me. Especially if build quality is on par with retina macbook pro.
-
great find dude
-
its a june 28th ship date though... maybe itll change once the link actually goes live...
-
unfortunately it looks like RAM configurations state that there is only on module no matter the setup? Forcing to run in single channel would cripple the HD5000 by approx 25% :\
-
mm pretty expensive :/ I seriously hope the pro 13 will be more affordable.
-
Links are live at the Sony USA website. Wait... Preorders only? Won't be shipping until 9 July? What
-
just preordered mine: white, max specs core i7, 8gb ram, and 512 gb ssd. it says to ship by 6-28. I noticed that if you add the LTE, it takes a month longer all the way to July 26th.
-
think I got 10% off with sony financing too (says program reward savings of $247). my total cost with tax was $2426, exactly in line with my expectations for this awesome machine.
-
hnnnnnnggggggg
512gb for 500$ -
Fat Dragon Just this guy, you know?
Single-channel onboard RAM, HD5000 is a $270 upgrade (when they could offer the i5-4250m for $50). Sorry Sony, just too steep for what you're offering.
But then, a machine like this isn't generally about the specs... -
So that Sgnl video was right all along about the actual release date -late June to early July. Initial news is quite misleading.
Settling for only the base model. Should be sufficient for my needs. -
Seen a different SKU (SVD13213CXB) other online retailers. They don't have them in stock yet, though.

EDIT: SVD13213CXB is just the SKU for the black Duo 13.
