Awesome Rebate on Sony VAIO Z / SR / BZ Series

I didn't tell them that I have the CTO. The fact that I don't have the proper UPC code shows that I have the CTO model. I just sent in all the stickers on my box (the huge one with the specs on the side of the box and the small barcode on the flap) as substitutes for my UPC code. I received my rebate around 4 weeks after summiting the form.

It's somewhat of an gamble as in weather or not Sony will approve your rebate. But I think the odds are high. In my case, they approved my rebate after 3 days of receiving the form, without ever contacting me regarding the UPC.

Don't forget about the Trade Up offer. You can use it along with the Bundle rebate. Even if you don't have a computer to trade, you can buy one off ebay or somewhere. I got a Dell off ebay for $200 and sent it in to get the $450 rebate. Took about 6 weeks. You could probably get one for less, but they do have some restrictions on condition, battery life, operating system etc. So, it might be worth it to spend a bit more to make sure to get one that meets their criteria otherwise they can deduct value.

Not a bad deal overall. I got a Z540 that was supposedly a never opened return at CDW, one of the authorized partners for the bundle rebate. I also got a 3 year ADP Sony warranty and the total was $1300 after tax and shipping. Less the $250 net from the tradeup and the extra 512MB stick from the trade-in that I sold, made it just over $1000 including the computer and the battery, case and power stick from the bundle. Despite some of the quirks of the Z, you can't beat the price for the portability, good display, battery life and switchable graphics.

 

Do you have to buy the notebook through a buisness to get the mobility bundle?? Would an university count as a buisness??

When you click the Bundle offer, it shows a list of 6 resellers. People have reported getting the bundle from various other retailers, too, but you'd have to contact Sony to make sure.

I just clicked the link to the Trade up Offer. It looks like they reduced the amount on Dell from $450 to $300, like all other brands :-(

 

They extended the bundle date.

Has anyone in this forum actually received their bundle in the last 8-10 weeks?

I submitted mine way back in May, and after 6 weeks, I emailed and received a reply saying that the bundles are on "backorder" and that they hope to ship them out within the next couple of weeks. A couple of weeks went by and still nothing..

 

Maybe call them up on the phone to check again?

 

Yeah, I mean, the people at Sony Rebate Center have been really good about responding to my emails, so it's not really an issue of lack of communication -

But when they say the bundles are back-ordered, there's not much else I can do - except maybe to point out that if I were to go to the online store right now, I could purchase each item individually and have them shipped to me within the week, heh.

8 months ago, mine came within a month after I sent in the rebate.

Did you ordered your bundle? If yes, then could you please give me detailed instructions? Here and there, there's lots of stickers. (even huge ones)

 

Just an FYI for you all. From what I've heard, it seems they are a little backordered on the AC adapters for the bundles, so they are coming, but are a bit delayed.

 

I wonder which of the rebate is popular? The mobility vs the other one.

 

IMHO, the most important thing is what the items in each of the bundles (mobility/productivity) are most useful to you.... Unless of course, you're selling the free rebate bundle after getting them, then that's why you want to find out their popularity.
