But no VT so far. -
Been looking for that for a while.
I have Sony Z51WG (UK Version) with HDD and I want to install SSD to speed up my boot time and performance. Mostly use my laptop for business, but it's feeling old and slow.
From reading SSD threads, I understand I need the Advanced Bios activated to allow me to install the SSD in my laptop. Don't think I'll have a problem opening it up and installing the hardware, but what I can get done is flashing the bios fine.
First, is the uploaded bios free of the bios password problem?
Second, Fla doesn't work with a 64 bit OS and won't run under boot to safemode command prompt or an elevated command prompt, so how to you flash the bios, and what do you type in the command line?
I even tries Insydeflash, but couldn't get that to work either.
I need some advice from someone with programming experience here.
Can someone help, please? -

The link above in quotes is still active (the word 'Here') so download your Sony Z R5031M3 'unlocked' advanced bios from there.
It also contains a copy of ' Flash!t ' which works just fine for flashing your Sony Z Bios.
Now go to Rufus - Create bootable USB drives and download a copy of Rufus 1.2.
Get yourself a USB Key 4GB or lower.
Put the USB ket in your USB port under Wondows 7 (I'm running 64bit, but 32bit works just as well.)
Run Rufus.
In the top line, select your USB Key.
I didn't touch any of the other settings, and I let it format my USB drive and create an MS Dos Bootable USB Drive.
Still in wondows, place the four files from the M5031M3Advanced.zip file into the root directory of the USB key.
Your USB Key is now ready.
Flashing the bios.....
Backup everything incase it all goes wrong.
1. Set your bios to boot from a USB Key. F2 at startup to get into bios. In the 'Boot' tab, Enable External Device Boot, and then select External Device in the Boot Priority List and Used F5 to move it to the top of the list. Save and exit.
2. Insert the USB Drive and switch on. The computer should boot to the familiar C: Dos prompt.
3. Type Flash!t R5031M3A.rom /f and the system should flash the bios.
Your done. I just booted and my bios is chanced.
All I've got to do now is figure out what I need to reconfigure to allow me to install an SSD instead of my HDD.
Anyone any tips on what settings need to be changed for and SSD primary drive?
>Edit< Obviously use an ' i ' instead of the ' ! ' in Flash!t . -
Hi, I can't seem to get this to work. I get this below.
Error: IHISI 15h fail.Internal error 20 FFC00000
FBTS permission is denied by user.
Was wondering if anyone had a clean 5031M bios that i can attempt to use. I can do the advance hack after.
Thanks -
can someone repost a working link to the R5031M3 advance menu hacked, file please
-
This one is still active...just used it!
Netload Serious Filehosting - Netload -
Can't find any working links to R503x or R4044 advanced BIOS!
Is anybody able to re-upload it, please? -
the link for the R5031M3 advance menu hacked is not working anymore.
Could someone please post an update?
Thnx -
I got this working on R5031M3 by following the guide here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/insyde-hacking-new-vaio-z-advanced-menu-in-bios.473226/ and changing VSS_OFFSET to 0x3b0048 and PATCH_OFFSET to 0x25a in advanced_menu.py. Check your rom dump in a hex editor for $VSS at 0x3b0048 before flashing and compare old and new for a change from 0 to 1
I have a UK Z51WG and DOING THIS IS ENTIRELY AT YOUR OWN RISK.
