The white looks to be in stock if you don't need Blu-Ray.

Edit: sold out again as of 1:30 pm EST.

yeah, bummer. Since I am doing a product replacement at BB ( my old laptop died) I need to get a laptop from there that has blu ray and nvidia graphics. This was totally going to fit the bill. BB said they would be willing to give me a store credit if they didnt have it in stock. I hope its for the full price that i paid for my original Laptop.

Maybe they'll get some new model with even better specs at a bigger deal. Well, at least in this industry with these products, it always seems to be that way!

Other than that, maybe it was just a one time, limited deal, but it would make more sense if they kept the model but offered it at a higher price. A little sense at least.

The only other option for them would have been to lower the price to sell excess stock, but we all know they have a hard time even keeping it in stock. Even then, how much lower could they have dropped the price in such a short span of time.

    Just my thoughts.....

Was there a reason why you purchased 2 and returning one of them? (just curious)

    sort of long story.
i had the accidental damage plan w/ my old laptop. they junked out my old laptop and asked me to come in and pick out a new one. i came in yesterday and they deemed that the samsung R580 was equivalent to what i had before, even though it was about $70 less than what i originally paid for mine. If i opted for store credit, they would have only gave me $800 store credit vs $888 which is what hte samsung was going for. so i decided to get the samsung at the time hoping that the sony would go back in stock online.

Today, the sony came back in stock, so i purchased it w/ my amex, being afraid that it might sell out within an hour like it has the last few weeks. went to bb this afternoon, returned the samsung laptop and got store credit, and purchased another one w/ my store credit, since they wouldn't let me change my method of payment for my first purchase. I will just return the first order to the store and eat the $15 in shipping fees.

How do you guys like the screen? Is it too reflective or pretty good? I also hear complaints about how short it is, needing lots of vertical scrolling d/t 16:9 aspect.

Also, how is the touchpad? I'm coming from a SR Macbook Pro w/ the anti-glare screen.

no. they give you a laptop with what the floor guy thinks is an equivalent item. I was about to get stuck with a clunker AMD Turion 17" laptop w/ integrated graphics and dvdrw worth $500. My laptop was a core 2 duo, nvidia geforce 8500mGT, and blu ray!!! they said that new laptop would "run circles" around my old one. yeah okay. i had to get the store mgr to let me take the samsung R580 which at least had those features and was worth $888. my orig. laptop cost me $949 2 years ago and $400 for the accidental damage plan.

the warranty is not worth it, especially w/ all the hassle they gave me and how subjective the replacement is. You can get a additional warranty through your homeowners or renters insurance for alot less than that and they won't hassle you at all.

with all being said, the R580 looked to be a good 15" laptop, but i really had my eyes set on the CW vaio for $100 more. for $100 more i would be getting a smaller laptop, faster processor (i3 vs i5), better gpu (310m vs 330m) and a better resolution screen (1366x7xx vs 1600x900). this cw deal really cant be beat at the moment.

has anyone compared the cw's low res screen against high res screen with 330gt?

I read somewhere that high res isn't as bright as the low res.

I love the laptop apart from the screen. It's the one thing that I'm trying to live with and not return it as there isnt another laptop out there in this price range with the specs I want. The screen is very glossy and has very poor viewing angles. I have to constantly adjust the screen if I move in the seat whilst watching a film or playing a game.

In windows the screen is great. Vibrant and extremely crisp, but if I wanted a laptop just for windows I would get a longer life battery slim laptop. I wanted a portable multimedia one and I can play Mass Effect 2 on this laptop whilst staying away in a hotel for work and watch videos, but the videos are washed out in dark scenes and appear to have a "gray" cast over the screen. If I adjust the angle, the gray goes to black but then it is too dark to see anything!

You can easily see the "washed out" effect during bootup as the windows 7 loading screen is really bright and gray. Not black.

Everything else about the laptop I love, but I'm trying to live with the screen. My old Lenovo T61 has better contrast ratios in films and I don't have to keep adjusting the screen angle whenever I move in the seat! The T61 doesn't have the power of the CW though :(

Any chance they're gonna restock the indigo CWs? I'm sitting up here in Canada pondering all my choices and how expensive it is to get a crappy 310m CW here.
