Conics or PriceJapan

jabbajabba, I just told them that this will be my last email to them and if I don't hear from them, I am going to call my credit card company and dispute my charge. and I was dead serious when I sent that email. I really wanted to cancel my order and order from conics or something...I would rather wait couple more weeks and know when my order will arrive. also wanted to piss them off....

I am just hoping that they'll send out my TZ today....it is 8/2 9 am over there in Japan.

Whatever you feel most comfortable doing, IsLNdbOi. That is what it all comes down to.

As long as everything goes to plan, I should have VOS and Wide coverage from Conics. Considering I am in Australia, Dynamism was never an option for me.

They don't have the best English skills. From what I've read, PJ's public face is run by some Japanese individuals, whereas Conics is run by a fellow Aussie and an American.

 

Yes their English skills are not that good but understandable in most cases. However I have always wondered about why they never write Dear/Hi/Hello or end their mails with Sincerely/Regards etc. I found that to be quite rude in the beginning but I can live with it as long as I get what I ordered. FYI, Im also waiting for replies from them and Im also getting irritated.

 

Yes, SonyStyle Japan has just increased the delivery time for the TZ90.. and because of this PriceJapan has to increase their delivery times as well (from 2 - 3 weeks to 2,5 - 3,5 weeks).

The problem is: PriceJapan orders a TZ from SonyStyle Japan only after a customer has placed his order (and paid). They don't have a stock of TZ90. I think it is the same with Conics. Only Dynamism has a stock of (some) TZ90 and can deliver very fast at the moment. Another reason why ordering a TZ90 via Dynamism costs an arm and a leg.

At least they sign their e-mails with a (fore)name.

I have just received an e-mail from PriceJapan (without having to complain ) that my TZ will arrive tomorrow from SonyStyle and will be shipped to me the same day. I have placed my order on July 20th.

 

I guess I have forgive PJ...I just got my TZ. I didn't get any emails from DHL...I actually sent PJ an email yesterday but never got anything back from them. They actually shipped mine on 8/1...
At least I don't have to check my email every 5 min....

 

You won't believe what happened to my colleague...

After numerous mails unanswered he finally got a reply. PriceJapan wrote that they made a mistake and unfortunately never placed the order with Sony Style Japan. Sure they apologized many times, but that gives very little comfort.

So now he is still without a laptop after 24 days of waiting. Now he has 2 options: Either he gets a refund or they place the order now and he will then get it around August 25-28!

He needs a laptop within the next 8 days or so - since we need time to install software on it and set it up for our systems before he goes on a long business trip. So basically he will have to get a refund and find something else instead. I really sympathize with him. And so the saga ends.

 

Jabbajabba, I am truly sorry to hear that....he should just get a refund and order it from Dynamism..since they some in stock for immediate shipping.

 

Thats good news....I placed my order with conics on the 19th July, so hopefully mine will be ready tomorrow as well

 

Ouch. I would be fuming, especially considering he had been trying to contact them via email for so long.

I just ordered mine today from conics.. so the demand has gone up more on these?? Man since I ordered just the standard 160gb hd version, do you guys think I can get it by the 2 weeks? Because I'd hate to wait longer than 2 weeks, even 1 week is painful~!

 

Conics have said that Sony stated that my delivery will be in the "last half of August". I guess I already expected that, though.

Yeah; they will not place the order until funds have cleared. It's the only way to protect themselves.

I transferred (bank wired) from within Australia, so my funds cleared by the next day. I can't comment on other countries or other forms of payment.

 

I paid credit card via paypal and as an ebay seller I know it'll take 2-3 days for it to fully transfer over to a bank account... man I guess I wont see that laptop for 3 weeks.. at least just in time for school to start so I can carry it around campus =)

 

What case did you get? I was so tempted to go for the standard battery and get the brown leather cover. Instead, I got the full leather caring case because I opted for the largest capacity battery.

I am still tempted to order the standard battery later, just to to be able use the cover. It is damn sexy.

 

BTW, is Champain gold good? cuz that is the one I ordered.. -_-;;;

Damn, its Friday, and I guess it will be at least by Monday or tuesday that Conics will order for me.... and plus I will have to wait like... 2 weeks?
Plus if I want to payless for taxes, then I will be even more worry since I will be taking risk like Nanaki!.. :-(

 

I think it looks good. I can tell you what the Sony Japan website says about it and why they have designed the whole gold series of accessories? You may not like it though.

I think production will take between 2-3 weeks for at least the next few weeks. A promotion on it ended an hour ago, so they would have received a higher than normal amount of orders this past week.

 

I ordered mine without any case, I'll just buy one later from different company also that 100+ for a case is just too expensive so I didnt order one to slim down the price a bit and I ordered the standard battery 6 hours should be more than good enough for me =)

 

My TZ90 should be shipped today. I'm still waiting news from DHL or PriceJapan

 

did anyone on pricejapan see this?? ( please note that Sony factory takes summer vacations from 8/11 to 8/19.) So the factory is closed for a full week?!?

 

The 13th to the 16th of August is the Bon Festival: "An important Japanese tradition to honor ancestors. Most Japanese people take summer vacation during this time."

Everyone needs holidays. I don't mind waiting. This is probably why the dates are stated for the last half of August.

 

I have just had a phone call from DHL. My Tz will be delivered on Monday. I can't wait So I'm going to take it this afternoon (France)!
I didn't get any emails from PriceJapan and DHL. I think price is good but communication is bad....

 

obon!! no!!!! I'm korean and we dont have such thingS!! We dont have days that we rest for so long!! We only do something similar but only for that one day on the day of the deceased!! I want my tZ!! lol j/k I can wait the extra days...

 

hmm.. I still got the pending under conics order history.. its been 4 days now maybe on monday it'll clear?? so that means they havnt even put my laptop on order.. man this is painfully sloowwwwww.......=(

Perhaps you will receive yours earlier than mine.. also since I live in NZ..
Conics told me it will take ~2weeks for the order, and then extra ~1week for the delivery.

BTW: which tz did you order? I got 32SSD+160GB option.

I doubt placing the order a few days earlier or later than the date you ordered will greatly effect the time it takes for you to receive the notebook, due to the upcoming Bon Festival holidays.

Mine was placed on the 2nd, so let us see if it makes much difference.

 

The japanese ppl are shakin their bon bons lol any ways I'm in the united states in houston, texas and I ordered the tz with only the 160gb hd with standard battery and it all came up to $2288 usd =) I"ll just add an ssd later on when the 64gb gets cheaper and i'm used to taking apart laptops so i'm very good at it, but for now the 5400rpm drive is good enough =)

 

hey zerodays are there alot of ppl in new zealand? I had a cousin way back in 1995-96 that came to live in houston texas from new zealand. No offense but I thought it was very funny/weird because first time I've ever heard a korean person with a british/I guess new zealand accent when speaking in english but then when they speak korean its normal.. so weiirdd.. lol.. but then again if you heard my accent it might sound kinda texas country accent.. and I say ya'll alot =/

 

hey jjashik, there are heaps heaps of ppl in NZ, only 4million ppl (lol), but lots of asians in auckland, including countless koreans, etc haha. I see them all the time. In fact NZ is still one of the closest-like-korea. its because our immigration history is still very very young compared to usa or aussie, etc. That is, pretty much all koreans speak korean no problems. (I know several aussie/usa born cant do)
So, I'd say we are still about 1.5 generation, although I do see little kids, childs (those born here) speak in english, so when those grow up in about 10years time, then nz would be just like usa/aussie, etc.
As for accent, its like aussie, or kiwi style, but never like british, never like american, i'd say somewhere in-between. so its even better i think, because i dont have to try to roll tongue hardest like american, or i dont have to try strictly like british. haha.



About TZ: yes, I was thinking about just HDD option, but when Duffy showed the Picture of SSD in TZ, it was rather scary to install 1.8 manually, because I find that screws are special-type, and I think you will have to take off the SSD card to finally insert into it... They all costed me about 337,000 yen.
I had to order English-keyboard for an additional price, because my friend told me that all Jap keyboard has symbols like () in different place!!. For me this is important, because I use it for programing codes, etc and dont want to get used to different keyboard style!
Oh btw, since I will be getting Jap-Vista, If I simply re-install english-Vista, can I activate using the (Jap-vista) serial key included ?

hmm.. I orderd the 5400rpm drive only and with an english keyboard as well.. I have no use for a japanese one. I can only read english and korean lol. I think conics they wipe out the japanese vista and they reinstall the english for you.. at least that's what it said on the option english-vista when I customized the whole laptop itself. and Sorry for calling it british accent haha i'm not very familiar at all in that region and I am a bit ignorant when it comes to that territory. Because I never really dealt or used the term aussies lol that's kinda kool though. Anyways I saw the inside as well and it just looks like any old connector that you just connect to the ssd just like how sata cables are but now i'm questioning myself if there are screws already there for me to bolt down the ssd drive there.. if not maybe I can just buy some from a 3rd party place..? Oh well I guess i'm just going to have to find out when that time comes. Oh and welcome to the club napper lol. Man I know we'll all be good friends in the next 3 weeks on this very thread. =)

 

Conics will install English Vista for you, zerodays. Did you select for them not to?

May I ask why you chose PriceJapan, napper?

 

This should be possible because a Vista license key doesn't refer to one language.

But if you get a license key for "Jap-Vista" Home Basic you can only activate "USA-Vista" Home Basic with this key (not Home Premium, Business or Ultimate).

 

Yeah, that what Conics said they use when they install an English version of Vista for you. I don't know the licence agreements concerning keys, but if it works it works. I am sure Microsoft would rather you do that than download it illegally.

If you need screws to install the SSD later, jjahshik32, you should pray that they are not proprietary. I has to learn returns/tech support for a promotion on one of my last jobs, and I learnt that Sony charges a lot for simple parts.

 

well if its an absolute necessary for the screws even if its a hundred ill pay to be able to put an ssd drive in later, plus by then with the hundred for the screws + 64gb will cost 300 =)

 

When i ordered, i did not know others. That's why i chose the PJ.

BTW I sent an e-mail to PJ yesterday because i'm moving out so i worry not getting my stuff due to the festival.

They sent an e-mail today and said they can refund right away if i want so i canceled my order.

Once i sent back, they refunded quickly.
It was a smooth transaction for me.

So it seems Conics is a bit more reliable. Especially Pricejapan forgetting about one order and not replying to emails, Conics seems the way to go.

I wouldn't say so. I am extremely satisfied with PriceJapan. Especially e-mail communication was very smooth in my case. I really haven't missed a thing.

But be sure to compare the total costs for you, not only the items cost.

One example: PriceJapan has a german bank account (and accounts in many other countries), while Conics has not. This would have resulted in at least 5 % additional costs only for paying if I would have chosen Conics. Shipping costs were higher as well and Conics won't undervalue as much as PriceJapan.

For me the total price difference between PriceJapan and Conics was nearly 350 Euro (in total costs including "paying costs", shipping costs, "TAX/VAT costs", ...). For this difference I have saved thanks to PriceJapan I can (almost) buy the docking station and a(nother) standard battery for the TZ (I will buy both things in Germany).

So I wouldn't say that it is the best way to go with Conics in every case. It depends on the (your) "situation". For me as German Conics was a good option but not the best.

Dynamism is great if you want the best warranty options, the best service and a fast delivery time (only Dynamism has some TZ in stock and can deliver very fast). But you will pay a very big premium.

And very important for Europeans: they won't undervalue at all. So with the 19,5% VAT you will have to pay on the total costs Dynamism will be nearly as expensive as SonyStyle Europe. So for me (as European) Dynamism wasn't an option at all.

 

I am glad your order went well, but you cant deny the people here that did not get any response to emails, and one person that they forgot the order.

But yes I will compare. I am even tempted to maybe just buy here in Netherlands. OK 1700 euros for low specs, but delivery in 1 day and normal warranty.

Yes, I won't deny this. It was reported in this forum. Something went wrong for one or two customers of PriceJapan. :cry: But do you think there are no problems with Conics at all... never ever?! I really don't think so. I can remember at least one person in this forum complaining that Brett (or Brad?) from Conics hasn't replied to his e-mail for several days.

I think there will be even some people out there who are not satisfied with Dynamism... at least not 100,00% satisfied. Despite the fact, that they have paid a really big premium for the "best service".

 

I've just sent email asking for a price quote to Pricejapan and Conics, so I will see how they reply.
