I went to sprint.com/downoads - installed the first card and it seems to recognize it and install drivers as it now shows up in my network properties HDAudio - 3g. it wants to dial ppp - says disconnected not sure where the issue is.

I have a Vaio SZ670N and the WAN card is a Novatel E725 SPRINT which by the way cannot use as i am in Mexico and neither Sprint nor Sony have provided me with the SPC code in order to activate on another network. If anyone knows a way to get a hold of this number let me know. try the following liknk for the connection manager:

    http://www4.sprint.com/pcsbusiness/support/downloads/details.jsp

Keep in mind this is for windows XP.

    Hello,

I tried double-clicking on the install.bat for the sony_image_filter driver and I kept on getting the same error message. It is saying installation failed. Anyone know how to fix this?

    Thanks.

I know I would certainly appreciate a copy of the driver for the modem.

    thanks

If I will install XP on my SZ680 will I still be able (just in case...) to use Vaio Recovery to install back Vista from hidden partition?
    Thanks!

Haven't heard back from anyone on the XP drivers for the 670 - called Sprint, Sony and Novatel - none can seem to find the drivers each says to call the other company - anyone found drivers for Window XP for the modem in the 670? I've installed just about every Novatel driver I can find - won't show up under device manager in XP but it does in Vista.

Boe, I might have missed something but I installed XP on my SZ 660, and used the guide somewhere on this forum and did as directed and I believe I have a working WAN. I dont have it activated and dont use it, but I can turn it on and it will look for a Sprint signal. I believe the guide was put together by Bogart. The drivers were availble on whatever link was provided in the guide. It might have directed my to the Sony downloads website.

ahkim123 - Thanks - if you find them please let me know - I have gone to Sony's downloads - none for the novatel wireless on the sz670 http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-list.pl?mdl=VGNSZ670NC&region_id=DRIVER I've also gone to Sprint's web site - http://www4.sprint.com/pcsbusiness/support/downloads/items.jsp while there are many Novatel drivers, none are found in device manager when I've tried every single download here - http://www4.sprint.com/pcsbusiness/support/downloads/items.jsp. Unfortunately there are no unknown devices in device manager so I can't try to force the drivers on anything, I'll need to have an installer. I also tried installing the inf file for every novatel wireless I could find - none showed up in device manager even after a rescan and reboot.

If under device manager on your laptop it is using the novatel wireless like mine is could you please post or PM me with the files being used by it? I can turn on the sprint manager but it doesn't recognize that I have a wireless modem in my unit - it only finds the wifi unit.

Ok, I've done a clean Vista install with OK results, but I'm still tempted to downgrade to XP. I've read this entire thread and went to both the ftp and SonyStyle support sites. I created a spreadsheet of what is avaialable on both and have a few questions.

BTW, this is for my SZ680 which I used as the model on the SonyStyle site.

Have a look at the picture (couldn't think of a quicker way to show this, sorry)

    1. I assume I can use the latest INF update from Intel
    2. Can I use the latest Pro/Wireless driver 11.5.0.32 from Intel?
    3. Can I use the latest GMA driver 14.31.1 from Intel? (I think not)
    4. Unless someone else says otherwise, I will use the higher version of driver for my install. They are highlighted in red.
    5. The Sonystyle site has some other drivers/utils which I put at the bottom of the chart. Do I install any one of those other than the misleading Express Chipset Family Graphics Driver?

    Thanks,
    Amro

    Hello
I have downgraded my sz670n to windows xp and everything works fine except for the usb connections.
They work, but the speed transmition is so slow and I dunno what to do.
It takes to me like 50 seconds to transfer to a pendrive just 20 mb.
Sometimes, my laptop makes a sound like if i had connected and disconnected a device when i haven't..
In my device administrator everything seems to be ok, although i have 16 different devices within the Universal Serial Bus menu.
I have thought about installing motherboard drivers, but i dont know the model of it. I have tried with Everest, but it tells me that my mother board name is Sony Corporation VGN-SZ670N :s
    I would appreciate any sugestion

    Thank you in advance!

I have a sz650 nc. I want to install XP. I am not sure if i should buy the downgrade CD from Sony for $9.95. Or can I just use an OEM XP CD?

Please let me know which route I should go. I prefer a CLEAN install, no bloatware. Will the downgrade CD have bloatware?

What CD are you all using?

    Much Thanks.
