Hi all! First of all congrats to everyone for the great work!

It's been a few days now I had to roll back to the original drivers my VPCZ1290x came and ever since, even if I have tried EVERYTHING, I just cant manage to install any of the modded drivers! null - zero......!

Is there something I'm doing wrong in the steps I follow? What I do is:

    1. I don't uninstall any of the original Sony drivers
    2. I run DSEO (1.3b) and I select Test Mode, then I restart
    3. I switch the graphs to Speed
    4. I install any of the modded drivers. I select "Express Install" and at the end of the installation I select not to reboot.
    5. I run DSEO to digitally sign "C:\Windows\System32\drivers\nvlddmkm.sys" and "C:\Windows\System32\drivers\igdkmd64.sys" (without the quotes of curse).
    6. Then I reboot

After all of the above steps I get the default VGA drivers (big/huge graphics and letters). Is there something I'm missing, like "remove any of the remaining drivers with Driver Sweeper first, then restart..." ?

    Thanx!

Anyone want to login remotely to my Vaio VPC V12GGX/X
    (i7 w/ GT Force 330M video?)

    (previously had VGN Z820GB core2duo / GT9300 video)
and figure out how to get rid of my purple links in google.

ie. I go to google.com in internet explorer (or any browser, doesnt matter)

    then I search for something
instead of getting blue linked results
I get HARD purple link results

I have had 2 different NEW Vaio Z's
1st one had everything changed about 2x.
    - The Screen
    - HDD
    - Motherboard
    - EVERYTHING

Then they gave me the model VPC V12GGX/X.

$100 if you can login and get those purple links to blue.

No, its not settings. Its a driver issue or something? config this or that? I have pulled out all the hairs left.

Let me know - I am serious.

Hey guys, thanks for the effort with this! Was following along even before I got my Z. I was a little worried when I installed the 260 drivers because the highest resolution it would let me choose was 1280x1024 instead of 1080p. The 263 link was kicking back a message about the file not existing but eventually came through, that installation worked for me flawlessly.

I found it odd that I was getting UI lag in Maya2011 and material snapshots that are just tiny visuals were taking 10-15 seconds to completely load, but a driver update and a little OC, now things are sailing.

@mobenzo You know that links you have visited once are appearing purple from then on?

If yes, try unticking Use System Colors under Internet Options -> Colors and set your own. Maybe Sony has redefined some System Colors to fit the purple Vaio Z schema.

thanks for the feedback, that inf is original inf for vpc f, nvidia changed a lot of the code...

but since you say you have no problem installing my inf then my conclusion is nvidia stop hybrid driver support after
microsoft 261.30 for vpcz1 important hybrid file
nvidia 263.14 latest desktop driver for vpcz1
intel 2266 latest intel driver for vpcz1

After even more tries, I still haven’t managed to install the custom drivers. Could it be because I log-into windows under a Domain and not a Workgroup?

Do you have any suggestions how to permit a Z-1390x to rotate the screen? none of the Z's seem to allow this. both the nvidia and the windows control panels are missing the rotation options. sony wants to install a new mother board on my computer to resolve this, but they seem completely addled in customer care.

this is driver problem please search inside this thread, you will find some registry key that you must delete in order to make it work.

    edit:
nvidia 266.66 is out for 560TI i will see what can i do with this driver 18 hours to go.
    intel 2279 official is out.
may want to mix this two

    edit2:
    going to test 26314 2279.
    if 26314 2279 possible will continue with 26666 2279.
    redownload 26635 to see luck!

    Hi All,

I'm having a problem, which I believe it was introduced in my Z13 after install some of this drivers. I did try 263.00 then 260.63.
This is the issue: my system, like any other, is set to turn of the display after some inactive time, to reduce power consumption. The problem is when the display is turned on again and is running with Intel video (never happened with NVidia). Most of the time (something like 60~80% of the times), when the display is turned on again, the image is very odd! The colors are much different and the image looks a little distorted. Is very difficult do put this in words. The green get a glowing tone. To return the image to what should be, I need to change to NVidia and back to Intel, or suspend and resume, or change the resolution.
    This is very annoying.
I didn't notice this before change from the sony’s driver to those newer ones. Anyway, switch back to Sony's driver didn't help...

Anybody know this problem? Better yet, anybody knows a solution to this problem? This is really annoying. I'm very close to give-up from Intel VGA until found a solution :(

    Thanks in advance.

IIRC this is some awkward powersaving "feature" of the Intel Drivers which can be turned off using the Intel Control Center (as a matter of course you will have to be in Stamina mode for doing this).

also, is there anyway to disable the intel card in a VGN, im currently in video game design school and the intel card is completely useless for everything, and i would like to install the newest nvidia drivers so that it'll help this little beast run

    Thanks for responding pmfcmmak.
Yeah, its not something as simple a visited links.

I have tried what you recommended a few moons ago :)

I am close to a solution. My main issue is with Google. The blue links are a harsh purple. So I found the usercontent file that renders the pages in FF. You can select to change the links on certain pages. So far I have been able to change google homepage background via this page as well as the google text. I just cannot get the right "link" code to work for this particular css page for browsers.

Keep you posted. I think I am close. But if anyone knows I would appreciate it.

    Its not the simple
    a:link etc......

    needs the simplied version.

    ie.
    background: #000000;
    color: #ff0000;

the above two work for background and text I cant get the "link" code to work.

Right now it is in "balanced". I have other 2 options: maximum battery and maximum performance... I supose I need to let it @ performance, right?
What's the impact on battery life?

Read page1, that's why you get an error, you need to sign the driver and run windows in test mode.

Ok... so i installed this hybrid driver on my Z540 a while back but i could only switch from speed to stamina. I would need to boot with speed to use the speed mode though. Also brightness wouldnt change in speed... anyone know wat was wrong?

I installed the new intel driver by accident so switch completely stopped working... im gonna do a full reinstall of windows tomorrow so it wold be great if someone could let me know where i went wrong.

I have installed the 266.87 quadro drivers and so far they run fine. (bios hacked and dedicated only).

Andrew I haven't been able to follow the hybrid development lately but doesn't the new 266.xx drivers work with the old intel drivers? or I am wrong?

when I read it seems that people are trying to get the new intel drivers to work with the latest nvidia? but why not just use the older ones for now if they work, to get updated nvidia drivers?

    Just curious :)

Hi mate, nope you are all set mostly, you still need a modded inf, from like laptopvideo2go. Sometimes they dont work, but thats 100% missing info in the .inf file, not that you cant install.

basically if you download the drivers and the modded inf from here:

    v266.87 Windows 7/Vista 64bit | Dell Quadro - LaptopVideo2Go Forums

after you disable the intel in your bios, you all set to go.

    enjoy.

edit: I'll give another try to 266.66 2266 or 266.66 2279 in next 24 hours.

edit2: if everything goes right i will post the full steps.

just download 2202 and copy everything inside graphic folder except the '.inf', '.cat' and the langs folder.

Actually i am curious how the vgn z graphics works but i don't have one.

edit: nvidia 266.66 from microsoft - intel 2666 failed to work.

Combining, as thomaskc.dk suggested, the nVidia 266.66 with the Intel 2202 should work? I think most of the users are looking anyway for updated nvidia drivers rather than the intel ones.

Yes I agree! I will receive the Z14 (seems to be almost same as Z13 anyway) in a few days, and really hope I can install update nvidia driver (I'd like to use latest Parallel nsight which require 266, so no way around it unfortunately).

Worst case, I wouldn't mind installing modded NV driver and not being able to switch while windows is running. However, I was wondering if I can I still switch it quickly with a reboot (i.e. just moving the switch or maybe go through bios?) so that it chooses the appropriate driver when windows startup?

Anyway, keep up the good work!

so what is the idea now? use intel 2202 with 266.66 from microsoft or nvidia?

    edit:
this idea may sounds crazy to me, if you ask why, think about it, I can get 263.14 working with 2266 but i can't get 263.14 to work with intel 2272 or 2279, why? The code for 2266, 2272, 2279 are all the same. anyway i will try 266.66 with 2202 and tell you all the result in 1 hour.

edit2: i can't find 2202 can anyone send me the link?

    Yes, would be nice!
I dunno for others, but personally I really don't care about updated intel drivers (even 1994 is fine), as long as they display 2D (and if possible Aero etc...). It's not like Intel is usable in games anyway.
As long as we can switch to updated NV driver anytime 3D is needed, it would be great.

I said 2202 just because I saw them in the first post, if there are others that works for sure even if they aren't the latest even better!

The point is just to have the latest nvidia drivers and still the hybrid, no metter which version of the intel drivers.

What do you mean by the graphics folder? I'm not sure where to copy the files.

I'm interested in getting more updated intel drivers because they are needed to enable hardware acceleration on firefox 4 or ie9.

As a quick update, I tried to mix 263.00 and 2202 and it worked (not sure why but the one from Page1 didn't work for me).
However, when I tried to mix 266.35 and 2202, I could switch one time from NV->Intel, but no way to go back (still display the small message "Hybrid transition instrumentation", but it is still in Save Power).

I will investigate more (maybe with some luck, a more recent version fixes this, or maybe some registry keys/parameters are required with new version because of optimus).

    Hi.
I am quite sure no one spoke about VPCZ and 3D vision.

For whom it may interest, it works with thomaskc.dk 263.00 drivers.
I actually had some problems with these drivers. Apparently they don't provide the support for the nvidia USB Stereo Controller (the IR emitter).
I googled for a while, but I didn't find any solution, I then decided to try these drivers. It's just the USB drivers (about 2MBytes).

They actually work like a charm!!!
I tried Batman Arkham Asylum!!! AMAZING!!!

I suggest to the Topic Mantainer to download this file and upload it again in the first page. This is just a rapid sharelink, it may expire

    See you soon guys!!!

One question, on which screen did you run 3D? 3D HDTV over HDMI?
