Could be the automatic brightness control messing you up. Go into VAIO Control Center and turn that off.
-
After the registry key a restart is needed but now it works!
Now after switching from intel to nVidia, when I try to open the nVidia control panel, nVidia control panel crashs. Any suggestion?
I do not know if the problem is already known, if yes, apologize me and please link me the post with the solution. Thanks a lot! -
Might be the wrong version of nVidia control panel. Did you run driversweeper of nfr after removing the old driver before installing the new one?
-
No, I didn't. Ill try and I'll give you new news... thanks!
-
Problem unsolved...
-
hmm... i realized there are a lot of error for vgn z, i will post new key at my post, please try.
-
What does this one do?
-
I'm not able to get the graphics switching working
I've clean install of Windows, install the drivers by Nautilus and both graphics works, not the switch. Could anybody help me please?
-
since I don't own the old vgnz, I can't tell you what will it do.
I hope after "someone" join in, "he/she" would be able to answer your question.
"he/she" will be able to bring all of the old vgnz owners' driver out from beta stage. -
Andrew08
I've already applyed 1.reg in past coz namaiki have optain this one...
But sadly 2.reg have nothing to do with nothing
Flickering screen still exist..
I was using them on 263.08 x 2020 combination -
Use Nvidia Powermizer Manager for solving the problem with flickering.
-
Now it seems to work.
If I can help in some way just ask, but I'm not a programmer... -
Metsn
It's easy way, but i want powermizer on, for the main reason not to feel my left hand heated to 60-70 degree and noise of vaio fan...
So this is only problem that i have, and i can't choose between 2 evils here..
I think you know why)
P.S. Have just try to switch it off - flicker still exists...So
Just hope to get someday 260.63 x 2020 without flickering...That's all that i need, ideal combination without any other issues. -
275.50 beta (non WHQL) is out.
Release notes:
I don't know what this means for us Hybrid guys.
EDIT: More doom and gloom, I'm afraid.
-
Nvidia will never support the Vaio Z hybrid GPU unless Sony asks them to support (which is not going to happen).
-
hold on!
you all are trying 26308 - 2020?
what about 26308 - 1994? -
Andrew08
As i remember 26308 - 1994 is pretty heat intensive and noisy..
But if you mean that we need to try out your new code with this one - i could do that few days later. -
Hi guys.. i just received my new VAIO VPC-Z. i follow the instruction in this topic.
do i have to be always in test mode to use the this driver (Andrew08 Driver)? becasue when i tried to disable the (test mode) there is no driver and nothing.. -
You're probably using a beta driver. Go with 26314 - 2266 signed - look for the link in his signature.
-
Andrew08
You have remove 2.reg coz it does nothing?
Than ther is no point in testing out 26308 - 1994, coz with 1.reg it works ok, but still heat / noise, and also flick
We need to switch in direction of 260.63 x 2020 -
yah this is what i installed.. i 'll give a try letter..
however. what -rotation - hybrid ui and manage blocking program in Special Features 1 and Special Features 2.. and how i can use them when i install the driver? -
Rename the desired inf to nvmvsz.inf. E.g if you want Special Features 2, back up the existing nvmsz.inf by renaming it nvmsz - standard.inf.bak. Now rename nvmvsz - Special Features 2.inf.bak to nvmvsz.inf and install the driver.
-
thxx for ur help.. but could u plz explain to me what " hybrid ui and manage blocking program in Special Features 1 and Special Features 2 ? and what ppl most use?
-
hybrid ui can help you manage blocking program as well as see which graphic you are using, you can also switch graphic using the ui(disabled for vaio z, since you already have physical button.). Why not give a try?
for all others, i "might" have a time next week to give a try on 26314 2020 for vgnz. -
Hey Andrew08, any progress/luck with 275.33 2266?
-
up until now the latest release from microsoft is 268.83 which doesn't support hybrid graphic, so it is equal to 0% progress.
-
Yes, 26308 - 2020.
I don'y know why but I can't install 26308 1994. Now I'm in test mode because 26308 - 2020 is not signed. -
tried the VPC-Z signed driver on my z115, seems to work....my games run fine, hardware switch (speed-stamina) works, WEI increased from 6.3 to 6.4 for aero and gaming graphics (was using sony stock drivers before)
thanks! hopefully there are no issues moving on -
Struggling here with my VGN-Z
- 26308 - 2020 installed. Initially worked in speed mode, but after a reboot it stays in stamina. The switch just triggers the software, but no switch occurs and light stays on stamina.
- I did have to move to test mode and sign the drivers as I couldn't get this far without that
- I tried the 1.reg file and it's not helped
- Not tried 26308 - 1994 as I assumed it was 32 bit by virtue of the first post. I see now from reading that it's probably 64. Is that right?
Anyone have any suggestion?
- Should I uninstall and try 26308 - 1994, or is there some say to get 26308 - 2020 to switch to speed? -
I use Nvidia 26314 - Intel 2266 signed driver. All perfect but I noted NVIDIA Control Panel doesn't disappear from windows context menu in Stamina mode((( and crashed when click on it
-
ya same here but i didnt bother touching it under stamina
-
I unchecked "integrate in windows context menu" in NVIDIA Control Panel and it disappear at all but I create a shortcut for nvcplui file for calling nvidia panel
-
I don't know if people have seen but Sony has released a new driver 268.86 for their top range gpu's.
Sony Mobile Nvidia 268.86 driver 64-bit - LaptopVideo2Go Forums
Not sure if there are elements or great performance to get from these. -
Thanks. Do these have hybrid graphics support?
-
Nope.
Downloaded, extracted with Uniextract, the extracted the driver. No hybrid files found. Specifically looking for nvbridge_int.kmd or nvbridge_int.km_
-
[quote=_______________
-
Unless something has changed you should be able to use nvbridge_int.kmd from another set. It is rare that you will find nvbridge_int.kmd in a set of drivers unless they are a.) already hybrid graphics drivers or b.) from windows update/catalog.
-
Hi Nautis,
glad to see you're back. Maybe now we'll get somewhere.
Seems that the latest known version of nvbridge_int.kmd is the one used by Andrew08 which works with Intel 2266 and not with later versions (partially with 2281). Until a new driver from Windows Update comes along, I don't think we'll be able to use a newer Intel driver, but we might be able to use a newer nVidia driver.
Could you please try making a package with 275.33 WHQL and Intel 2261 (8.15.10.2266 dated 6/30/2011)? Ready and willing to help with the testing. I have VPCZ1. -
A question to the professionals of this forum. I would like to use the switch in that way :
Speed -> Nvidia only
Stamina -> Intel only
Auto -> Both Intel and Nvidia using Optimus technology
Do you think is that possible ? -
@Zebnastien : I think it is the ultimate goal of this thread, and it has been discussed several times. But (unless I missed a change) it is not possible now due to the structure of the switch and the way optimus work...
-
Hey guys, sorry if I sound totally clueless. What are the exact steps to install these drivers? I downloaded nvidia 26314- intel 2281 signed from Andrew08 post. When I try to run the setup, it just fails to complete. Am I doing anything wrong? The setup says that my current version of drivers is "None".
Thanks in advance -
Your Alienware has Optimus technology - you lucky so and so. Standard nVidia drivers should work for you without having to mess around with them.
This thread is for the unfortunate few who are stuck with hybrid graphics. We guys have two graphics adapters too, but they are switch selectable (auto mode is simply AC power or battery). -
I got a Vaio Z too. Do I just install the drivers with the setup.exe file? What is the use of these drivers anyways? Before installing these drivers I could switch between speed and stamina with no problem, s in what way does this aid me?
-
read this post.
You'll find this : -
Updated the first post with Andrews builds.
Maybe if I get some extra time.
I am currently running ubuntu with my bios hacked and it forced to use the intel GPU only. My audio on Windows 7 is screwed up beyond repair so I need to eventually get it reinstalled.
--
I also have my gfs new Vaio SC I can play around with for some extra ATI hybrid switching fun. Yay new toys (even if they arnt mine.) Already uncovering some stuff.
I was going to hold off and buy a new Z (Z21), but with all its changes I may look at picking up the previous generation VPCZ that you all use. -
This thread contains links to both hybrid and optimus drivers. Which do you want?
If you go with hybrid drivers, get Andrew08's Nvidia 26314 - Intel 2266 signed. Working fine on my system for weeks.
The only issue we've managed to find is that the nVidia control panel is accessible while in stamina mode - as one would expect, if you do so, it will crash. Switch to speed mode and it works again.
If you go with Optimus drivers, you have power consumption related issues, and the switch no longer works. Also, automatic screen brightness control doesn't work.
Advantage of using the Optimus is that you can generally use the very latest drivers without much fuss. For hybrid drivers you'll have to struggle, or wait until some kind soul like Nautis or Andrew08 or thomaskc.dk makes a package. -
Yeah! Fingers crossed.
Reinstallation of the OS is usually painless. Even I have done it several times, so it should be a piece of cake for you.
Be aware that nVidia might drop support for hybrid graphics altogether. -
I anticipate this coming sooner than later (hope not though.) Nvidia finally got away from the proprietary hodgepodge that is Hybrid/Switchable Graphics with Optimus. Having three companies have to work together to release drivers is an almost impossible task. Especially with no one officially supporting the technology. As long as Nvidia leaves the code in the drivers it should work. Who knows how long that will be for though.
On our end it is more experimenting with driver combinations and settings to see if it works for us. This is really about all that we can do.
-
Something important to note:
ManuelG has the following to say on the "Notebooks supporting Hybrid Power technology with Intel chipsets are not supported by this release." message on the verde drivers.
"Its not so much that something is no longer supported. We have never provided direct driver support through our Verde drivers for switchable graphics prior to Optimus as it required a custom driver. NVIDIA's true Hybrid SLI with NVIDIA GPUs and NVIDIA MCP is still supported. NVIDIA's newest Optimus technology gets rid of some of the prior problems with switchable graphics in that you do not need an NVIDIA specific motherboard chipset and you also do not need a custom driver. " -
Sad, though, that a high end laptop less than one year old is headed for obsolescence. I paid around $2000 for this. Windows 8 is coming soon. Will our laptops be supported? Chances are that Microsoft might bundle a driver with the OS for marketing purposes, (they'll want us to upgrade, right?), but I expect that will be it.
Have to start paying more attention to BIOS modding.
Perhaps that's where our future lies. I still have a VGN that's about 5 years old. I expect to be using my VPCZ1 for at least as long.
-
There is a new driver on laptopvideo2go for ION's, NVIDIA GeForce v 275.33 WHQL from Microsoft Update. It does have nvBridge.km_ in the cab file. Is that something that the modding guru's can use?
