It seems that the VGN-Z "NVIDIA 26308 - Intel 2020" is not properly "signed". It results in error code 52 and i need to use the unsigned method for it to work.

Also, i have some weird flickers, once in a while, at random intervals. Has anyone else experienced this?

Except for those minor issues, you guys are my heroes! :'), my Vaio runs so much better now!

    View attachment nvidia_vaioz.txt

I made the file of samurri available through my torrent server.

So this is a torrent file. Just rename it from nvidia_vaioz.txt to nvidia_vaioz.torrent, add it to your favourite bittorrent client and help keeping this file available for us all.

I'll keep that file there for as long as possible.

Who released those? Andrew? Somehow I'm not able to use "search this thread" function well.

I believe the latest package from Nautis is 260.63 x 2020, which I'm running now. I made a mirror to two packages from Nautis which were working quite well on my VGN-Z.

    Nvidia 260.63 Intel 2020 x64 at Netload

    Nvidia 258.96 Intel 2020 x64 at Netload

edit: Found it, thanks to Google. That package is from Andrew. Unfortunately didn't download those. If someone would send them to me I could make some mirror/mirrors...

    Hi.
    I Have SONY VAIO VPCZ114GX/S
did clean install recently with Nvidia 26314 - intel 2281 signed
Everything works perfectly - brightness, auto switching and so on, but if I plug external display - it never turns off (w7 power settings are set balanced it should turn off in 5 minutes). Please Advise. Thank you.

Try to set it to clone display mode and watch if it goes off with your laptop screen together.

Did you try to reconstruct the issue with VGA?

This is really brilliant. Thanks a lot for the hard work. Downloaded and installed without any issues. I might not buy another sony given its reluctance to release driver updates. But at least for my Z13, I am going to keep it for much longer because of you guys.

too bad this hybrid driver doesnt work in windows 8, maybe i should blame windows 8, seems the new windows won't even recognize my 2 graphic card, instead it only recognize the intel one
hope anyone has solution about how to use hybrid on windows 8

I have my bios hacked, and I STILL! can't install any NVidia drivers (so far) but if I switch the intel, its found instantly... ?! NVidia worked like a charm in the alpha (technical preview of win8).

    SOooo annoying.

crap doesn't matter what drivers I try, all fail... detects the "card" fine, but once driver installation starts, I detects and error. :/

ok, so i have my switchable graphic card working fully under windows 8

you have to install the old vaio official driver, this one doesnt work

and you MUST install vaio control center, but take care about the install sequence, refer to this post
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/sony/467565-vaio-z-vpcz1-clean-install-10.html

the reason i suspect why this hacked driver doesnt work is because the driver is not properly signed, remember on windows 7 when you install it will prompt you a warning but you can choose install anyway? I believe windows 8 doesnt let you do that, instead it reject the driver directly

hope this will help, how I have a fully working windows 8,beside I don't have a working synaptic touchpad driver for z11, bluetooth not tested yet

You will be reminded daily about how you wish you had never upgraded.

You will experience how horrible it is to use a mouse/touchpad/keyboard on a touch-based OS first-hand!

You will have trouble finding drivers that work properly, vaguely reminiscing you of Windows Vista and Windows ME.

Lol. That's what I thought. I've never loved an OS as much as I do Win7; amazingly stable, mostly intuitive to tweak and by now I know where everything is buried anyway. It may be that Win 8 is optimized for hdwe or sftwe that is coming in the future, but until I find there is something I want to use that I can't do on W7, I will keep the $50-$100 upgrade fee for some other toy. Also, regardless of its touch-friendliness, I find the tile-based UI to be hard on the eyes and anything but intuitive.

I dont get why you ppl dont like 8, i think 8 is pretty cool, but just like what you said charm maybe not that good, but it doesnt bother me that mach either
anyhow, the point is this $2500 worth vaio z needs to be able to fight for another 1-2 years, with latest os, despite the fact you dont like the os, but we need the ability to run win8

So I found the reason why! Turns out that just like win7 x64 , windows8 is full of Driver signage restrictions too. How ever I managed to get win8 to boot with the safe mode menu, F8 from win7, but that has changed in win8 and boot up with driver signage disabled. Now for some reason, when I boot up normally now... the drivers still run like a charm after I installed them the first time with signage disabled :) so all good!

Only real problem I have is my Wacom tablet, it's doing weird on Win8 :/

well done thomaskc, you made my day
dig out the option to disable signature enforcement on windows 8 took me like an hour to figure out, so i'd like to share with everyone here

How To Enable Windows 8 Safe Mode

read this, and set up safe mode properly

when you see the picture under the line
"Before Windows starts loading, press F8 key to enter into Advanced Boot Options menu."
with blue background, and title choose an operating system

dont click on anything but the tiny words under that picture
"change defaults or choose other options"

and you will go into this menu

The Complete Guide To Windows 8 Startup Menu

follow choose other options -> troubleshoot -> advanced options -> windows start up settings
and click on restart, you will have a windows 7 like boot option menu, with an option to disable driver signature enforce, choose this, uninstall your old driver, and reboot, follow the same pattern, go to disable driver signature enforcement mode again, and install the new driver

everything works like a charm now

i believe whats causing this is because the hacked driver is not completely signed, so windows 8 won't accept it, but once you installed, the signed part will work properly even with driver signature enforcement on :D :D

Did you clean installed your own system?
If so, you MUST install vaio control center in order for the switch to work
but take care of the install sequence
