    Hi everyone, I have a problem, I don't know if I should get a
Dell Inspiron 9100 or a Sony PCG-GRT 360ZG...I don't think the dell comes with a TV Tuner but couldn't I just get a Hauppauge WinTV USB TV tuner? it is an external device that lets you watch and record TV.

    and here's the Sony pcg-grt 360ZG

Unless you're looking for a cheaper Sony, I'd recommend looking at the A series instead of the GRT series which is being phased out by the succeeding A series. The Graphics Card on the A series is much better, the design is nicer, and it has a 17" screen that's the best in its class. I compared HP's Bright View, Toshiba's 17" screen, Fujitsu's Crystal View, and Sony's XBRITE side by side in the store and had to say that Sony's was the best with Fujitsu's just a notch behind.

    Compaq Presario 2800T
    Pentium 4-M 1.6 GHz - 15" UXGA
    512 MB RAM - 40 GB
ATI Mobility Radeon 7500 64 MB
    Bought in 2002.

Is there one in the A- Series with a higher speed than 1.7?

Yes, but you'd pay hefty dollars to get it up to the next level which is either 1.8 or 2.0, forgot which. Processor speed doesn't matter that much after a point. The returns are pretty diminishing after you pass the 3.0 GHz barrier (eqiuvalent would be something between a P735 and a P745).

It all depends on what you want to do with it. Do you just want to watch TV? Keep in mind that Sony has been, and always will be, high end equipment. That means a Sony will almost always be more expensive. I myself recently bought the 360ZG and it is very nice. It is only semi-portable at 9 lbs, but I needed the mobility and the power. I also happen to like Sony and dislike dell. Everyone I know with a dell has a horror story about customer service. I don't know about Sony's service, because I've never had to use it.
Think about what you really need it for and go with the one that fits that best. You might find it is another computer entirely.

Is it just me or is my sony possessed by Satan?
