the current SZ has about 3 hrs on standard battery so i really wouldn't be surprised if the SR could do over 4hrs because you have to factor:
1. New LED screen.
2. Montevina uses less energy.
3. ATI 3470 + new Intel graphics card less power hungry than 8400 GS + old intel graphics card

I just posted that on the previous page, in fact, I posted all 4 laptop articles in the previous page, with price info.
taken from the site:
The Sony Vaio FW standard model starts at about $1000, while the premium will go for around $1750.
The Sony Vaio Z will start at about $1800, while the SSD model will go for around $2300.
The Sony Vaio BZ will be available in late July 2008, starting at about $1000 .
The Sony Vaio SR will be available at the end of July 2008, starting at about $1400. -
Question about the blu-ray player on the z. Will i still be able to burn cds and dvds if there is one? thanks.
-
Here are the actual specs....Z, SR, FW and BZ for a July Release Date. It's about time!
http://reviews.infosyncworld.com/la...Vaio+SR&name3=Sony+Vaio+FW&name4=Sony+Vaio+BZ
Oh Yeah!, I'm getting the Z. I'm good with the specs. I just need pictures of the carbon fiber to see how it actually looks to make the last final decision. Goodbye, SZ......lol.
Not that it matters, Vista Ultimate -Nice!,
HD @ 720p - getting better,
P9500 CPU, 4GB Ram - give me more...lol,
320GB Hard Drive - I can accept it, probably won't use it all,
Blu-Ray,
all for approx. $1800 far below what I projected.
Here's the link again:
http://reviews.infosyncworld.com/la...Vaio+SR&name3=Sony+Vaio+FW&name4=Sony+Vaio+BZ -
well if u wanna make music or edit media then u might like the new CPUs quite a lot
-
"The premium model (full specs) sports a 2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 256MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470 graphics card, 4GB DDR2 SDRAM, 320GB HDD (5400 RPM), Blu-ray drive and a HDMI port."
This is the premium model configuration for the FW series ($1750
). Although the pricing is cheaper than expected, wasn't the
ATI HD 3650 GPU supposed to be part of the configuration?
Also, will Sony eventually update the configurations to DDR3 SDRAM and offer a 320GB HHD with 7200RPM? This is unusual and completely unexpected...
Sony offers a Montevina processor, yet fails to provide an option for the new DDR3 SDRAM? This doesn't make sense!
This is very dissapointing...
-
So the Z at $1800 has blu ray?
-
10 bucks says at 9:01 PM ET we will still be waiting for that damn flash to change
-
i am kind of liking BZ here... anyone has pics?
-
wow i was thinkin the same hting
-
really? It already changed for me!
-
Klas liar!
-
The Z series w/ Blu-ray will definitely be more than $1800. My guess is about $3200. The only model with carbon fiber brushed finish should be the top of the line model (the one with Blu-ray). The carbon fiber lids on the other models should look just like the current TZ250/TZ270 or SZ750/SZ770 lids.

Don't say that, Be optimistic....
Yes, I agree.
Maybe, but it'll be stock. Can you handle that?
I just posted specs. from a website. It's not complete for all models, but it will give you an idea.
I'm curious about that myself. Will there be a Blu-Ray Burner? And are you still able to burn off of regular CD-R and DVD +/- R's. Good question. Does anyone know? -
made you look!
well you probably refreshing it every 5 seconds anyway!

Well the banner doesn't specify a year, just says Monday, July14. 2009????
-
K..So we waited on SONY's site for some outside source to post a blog saying we wont get these pieces of crap for another couple weeks!!!
SONY. You said 9:00 PM ET! *kicks legs* -
It's 6:07pm here in California, USA and according to Sonystyle, information on "What's New and What's Coming? Tab" shows no information on these new laptops. It stated that information will be released at 6:00 pm, July 14th, however absolutely Nothing.......
Did any of you check out this link yet. General Specs on the models and a photo gallery (but no images yet):
http://reviews.infosyncworld.com/la...Vaio+SR&name3=Sony+Vaio+FW&name4=Sony+Vaio+BZ -

I just called them...they're bringing up the inventory...they said 10-15 minutes. They're waiting too.
I asked if I could order tonight and they said "yes."
Also, I left my number and they'll call me back when it's live. -
is it just me or... do these comps look so thick??
-
Jayayess1190 Waiting on Intel Cannonlake
Does anybody think that both the SR and Z will still be around for next year when Calpella is launched? Will Sony still have too models since the gpu and cpu will be on the same die? I know its far away, but I am planning to buy one of these next summer.
-
21 minutes late and counting.........anyone actually wanna call sony? lol
-
TeT you said they said building up inventory!!!
THEY HAVE THEM READY TO SHIP????
OMFG. YES. -
tetonwolf your a beast. ....thanks man
-
Compared to a MB Air, they are kind of thick. But at least they look sexy and actually have new, great specs and features!
-
No, man. They're loading the inventory into their database. Sheeez.
Also, as I updated in my last post....I asked if I can order tonight and they said "YES!!"
Inventory to them means "listings" and "model numbers"...not stock. They leave that up to the shipping dudes. We'll have to see what leadtime is...all I know is you can place an order. -
i think they'll probably do a refresh for capella. Or just add new series to replace the four the left from santa anna
-
Is this supposed to be a live video presentation or just a static regular web that you can check out at any time?
-
but still be positive that you can order today...
-
Of course they are think compared to a MBA when they have so much more functionality than that "airhead" computer.
I can't wait for Sony's ultraportables in the fall!
