    Hi ngvuanh!
    Glad to see you're back.

    VAIO VPCSA3L9E

Yes finally I did replace the wrong LCD spare for a new one that works. But I also got a new problem, no sound and no lan network.
I've checked all drivers setup, everything is well installed and up to date but I got no sound at all, not inner speakers nor headphones. I don't care that much about LAN Ethernet as I have working Wi-Fi.
I disassembled the whole thing twice but found everything well connected, I also changed win10 to original win7
I'm afraid there could be another blown fuse or I could damaged the motherboard when bridging the fuse.
Today I'll dissasemble it again and use a better magnifier to check the soldering area.

Any clue will be well received

I'm not sure this is fuse related if not sorry for the off-topic

So I purchased a defective Vaio Pro 13, which would not display anything on the screen, however the HDMI output works.
I purchased a whole new screen assembly in the hopes that it would work, however still nothing. I took a flashlight and found that it was the backlight which was dead. I know how to solder, and have no problems with a multimeter, however I have never fixed a backlight fuse before, and I have no idea where the fuse is positioned. I took a picture of the display connector and the area around it, does anyone know where the fuse is? And could I just remove the fuse and solder between the pads to short it, to make it work?

It's been long time checking this forum. Sorry for late answers.
@jacobtc, the fuse is a little one with letter S on it. You can bridge it or remove and short 2 pads are which ever best for you.

I followed the indications of this forum and I discovered the fuse of my laptop., I checked with the multimeter how the fuse had no electricity continuity... then I created an electric connection bridge with tin... then my laptop ( Sony Vaio Fit 13A multi-flip SVF13N1E4E ) lcd backlight was working again., references:

Hi! O got a defective Vaio SVF142C29U, with a DA0HK8MB6E0 REV:E motherboard. The backlight fuse (f2, on the flipside of the lcd connector) is busted, so I bypassed it. But now the machine won't turn on anymore! The strange thing is that if I remove the bypass, the computer works again (without backlight). I've not short circuited any component arround the fuse, i double checked. Someone got an idea of what could be my problem? Thanks in advance.

Hi! May be I have the same ultrabook, is your mobo MBX-281 model? I measure the fuse (with E-E mark) near the LVDS and was 40 ohms instead of 0omhs. How was yours? Could you fix it?
    Thanks!

The screen on my Sony VAIO model PCG-6161L (VPCEE3WFX) goes dark after some time of use and then would sometimes come back on. I am pretty sure it is the lcd backlight failing because the rest of the laptop works fine while sitting on my desk plugged in to an external monitor. Further, I can shine a bright fashlight on the darkened laptop screen and see the contents.

I thought maybe the power inverter went bad but it is an LED model so not sure that it has one (at least I didn't see one in the center bottom location when I pulled the bezel off)? I also questioned whether the lcd power fuse burned up as reported throughout this thread. But then while the screen is out and plugged into my desk monitor, after an hour or so, poof, the laptop backlight comes back on, so maybe it's a loose wire? But if loose, why does it come back on even if the laptop is sitting unmolested.

Before I tear it down and start ordering random parts, does anyone think it might be driver related? Despite Sony not supporting it, I upgraded this laptop to Win 10 a few months ago, before this odd LCD problem started. But it seems like this latest LCD outage fixed itself after the latest Windows cumulative update.KB4015217 (release for Windows 10 version 1607)

Indeed I found in the notes for KB4015217 (bumps the version number of Windows 10 to build 14393.1066)
that it "Addressed issue where displays turn off unexpectedly even when Turn off display and Screensaver are disabled in the power profile." I'm obviously grasping at straws with this but again, figured I'd ask before tearing down the computer looking for a loose wire or solder.

    Thoughts anyone?

    Thanks for any advice.

Hi all Im new here but see conversation and need your help .
    I have hp tm2 1050ef laptop.
    I broke screen . Change it .
See it was not really the same (good was b121ew09 and try to Plug ltn121at09 )

The backlight dont turn on . In without fail mode I can start m'y laptop and see screen without problem Just no backlight.
In normal mode (windows) it wont work.
So I think this is windows issue but for backlight I think maybe this is fuse issue ?
Problems are same with good screen références.

I leave you pictures of my motherboard and hope you can help me .

Ps I have tried the fuse1 (110) in top and fuse 1001 (110) near usb in right. All of 2 are at 0.5

Hi, I have a problem with my asus zenbook ux31a. A friend of mine replaced a faulty power jack for me. After that while assembling the laptop I connected the LCD strip with the battery plugged in. I've heard some cracking noise and now backlight is gone.
I showed the laptop to two different "laptop repair specialists", but it turned out they're not really that good. One told me that there's something wrong with the motherboard, but he doesnt know what (he checked all the fuses he said). The other said the led backlight is faulty and I have to replace the whole upper lid.
Is damaged baclight itself possible in my case? Or it's rather the motherboard?
Another interesting thing is that the laptop doesnt do anything after I close the lid, eventhough I set up in win10 that it should hibernate after lid closing. So it got my suspicious about the reed sensor. But the keyboard is working fine. Faulty reed sensor would block backlight and the keyboard, right?
Also I can't power up the laptop normally. Every time after shut down I have to disconnect the battery, reconnect it and then plug in the ac adapter, then it starts automatically without even pressing the power button.
Befor that unfortunate laptop assembly everything was working fine.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    EDIT:
I checkd LVDS pins. Here are the values:
    pin 8: 19V
    pins 13 and 14: 0V
    pins 18,19,20: 3.3V
Looks like faulty U4501? Anyone knows correct values for pins 13 and 14?

    Hi everybody.

incredible handy forum you have here. I searched the history of this thread in the hope
of seeing the motherboard of my Vaio coming by, but no luck. Therefore I am writing this post.

I purchased a Sony Vaio PCG-81313m (used but in great condition) for my fiancé as
an extra Christmas present because her old notebook broke down. Unfortunatly the screen got
    cracked during transport.

I installed a new screen, but hasty to do it while she was out of the house,
forgot to take out the battery. Now the backlight does not function any more.

So the model name is PCG-81313m, the product name is VPCF24P1E.
Mainboard is the MBX-243 V081-MP_MB Rev 1.1. It has a 16,4" Full HD LED screen.
The screen has a 40 pin connector, but no separate backlight connector.

Here a picture of the front of the mainboard, with the connectors marked. The 40 pin connector
on the screen leaves the screen area as 1 cable, but the cable is divided on the motherboard
where it connects to those 2 plug-ins.

    https://drive.google.com/open?id=1JhGOXDqLW7IkhAkT19vHQTASBkqheg2m

Here a picture of the connector area.

    https://drive.google.com/open?id=19GEw8m7rQYVjGF16gWJnQARXUrJY-gPz

And a picture of the backside. Red are the connector area's on the other side.
I did not paint over any writings or diode's/fuse's.

    https://drive.google.com/open?id=1CsCj8FVd3TVI-as1b2CGPahVAc0bcd04

Here also a picture of the backside of the screen, and the connector area on the screen.
I noticed there is also a small fuse on the screen, so included this picture to be sure.

    https://drive.google.com/open?id=1WZrQ4WYQJy0QxZ3r0l_XblW4hVvGG6wn
    https://drive.google.com/open?id=1pAFgLo1WiV2Y0Kk1BEJjfE9D8Rokn2Zc

Is there anybody who could guide me to the solution, by pointing out the possible fuses?

Do you know how to check continuity in fuses with a multimeter? Check P02 and similar fuses on the motherboard. on the lcd check the white ones, look like fuses to me.

You can get a multimeter and start testing all fuse and little smd resistances, specially around screen plug on mother board.
Check continuity on both poles (sides), if you get continuity fuse is right, if there is no then bingo.

    Good luck!

Hi there. Thank You guys for all the useful information in this topic!
I have a problem with the backlight in my old VAIO SVE14A1S6EW and thanks to your knowledge i am close to solve it.

However, I would like to get an advice before I'll start soldering :)
The place at mobo where the LED fuse is supposed to looks slightly different from the one posted a few years ago. Probably different rev. The elements are arranged in different order.
Could you please help me with identifying correct fuse to bridge here? Is it "S" ?
I will be very grateful for any help.

    https://imageshack.com/a/img923/1294/2ckknO.jpg

EDIT: Tried with the "s" one, and backlight is back. Info just in case anyone needs it in the future.

    Hi Guys,

I wonder whether you could help me with my issue

I think i have the similar issue but with Vaio SVP13, i was replacing the palmrest with keyboard, and after connecting everything my touchscreen didn't seem to work, so was detaching the cord for LCD/Digitizer (stupidly with battery attached), so the computer became unresponsive, at firs was up to wait couple of hours for the voltage to leave the motherboard, but was impatient and I removed the CMOS battery and now its starting but resets BIOS (i have modded the BIOS to support NVMe drive), and the screen is black (no backlit, and screen is not detected), it works with external monitor, however i need to mod BIOS every time i start the computer to run from NVMe drive, the computer does not detect the monitor, so i was thinking that maybe by adjusting the cord from LCD/Digitizer i have disconnected cord from LCD, but this BIOS resetting to the safe state and removing NVMe instructions might indicate the fuse problem

I've tried to jump start 'S' fuse (in the pic from url on the left), but it didn't work (maybe was doing it wrong), and since there is no backlight nor display detected in windows this might be just and issue of the LCD cable.

    http://laptopturn.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/CHEK-BOTH.jpg

I've examined all the fuses but they seem to be fine,

Want to try later today check the direct connection to the lcd, whether it have been disconnected, otherwise will have too examine that with proper gear next week,

Do you guys have any suggestions or any possible solutions?

I'd appreciate in advance all of them, thank you

Hey guys, I have the same problem - blown display fuse on SVP132 (tested it with my multimeter). I'd like to order a new fuse but I don't know how it's called! Would you kindly let me know what I should be looking for (like fuse type and it's voltage or amperes) because I already spent hours googling with no result. I can't even get close to it and my "local" electronic store won't read local forum, I have to do 2 hour drive to get there.

    Hi ngvuanh

If i have the same model of machine as post 97 on page 10 of this thread, can I just follow your instructions to that enquiry or is each motherboard likely to be unique or different to one another? Your instructions seem to have worked for everyone else with the same no backlight screen issue, so I hope to attempt to fix my own screen at the weekend and have got hold of a multimeter and soldering iron to have a crack at it, but having never done anything like this before I am nervous to ruin the otherwise functional laptop.

Can i just confirm once more: am I correct in suggesting that bridging the dead fuse is suggested as a wiser option than trying to replace the dead fuse with a new one, as that can potentially lead to shorting things or further problems with the motherboard?

Hi! I've a M961 MBX224 and no backlight on screen. If I connect via VGA or HDMI no signal on external monitor but when the Windows starts, i can see the external monitor. I've disassembly the notebook and check fuse F15 and work. I think the LCD is the problem. Thanks
