If you can, then replace it. Otherwise, just cross or bridge it (short circuit it).

You will need a soldering iron with small tip. Home Depot or Radio Shack has it.
The fuse is really tiny, so practice first before you work on your laptop to prevent from damaging the board.
Since the fuse is blown, you can remove it if you are able to do it. Then, connect two pads with soldering lead.
If you feel uncomfortable, hire somebody to do it for you with a small pay.

Can anyone tell me where the fuse is on mine? It is a PCG-61611l (VPCee31fx). Here are the pics of the board. I'm thinking it may be the N on mine also, but not sure. This underside picture is directly underneath the LCD connector. Thanks

The fuse is on the other side of LCD connector.
See attached picture. I circled it with red.

Have you tried a different cable?
What's actually happened to your laptop that made the LCD failed?

I have a sony VPCEH14FM laptop and when I replaced the LED screen (dropped and busted the original screen) all I can get is a dark screen with the exception that briefly at the beginning of the boot uo cycle I can see the Sony Logo. It flickers bright and then is all dark.

Connecting it to an extra monitor works fine.

My question is, would this also be a case of a blown fuse or something else? I have bridged the F1 Fuse but it is still doing the same thing.

    Help?

I have a Sony PCG-71913L come into the shop having this issue. Normally would just be an inverter swap but this unit is LED so I looked up the fuses and found the "H" fuse and bridged that even tho it ohm'd at about 1.0 Still no luck, still DIM. I noticed on the other side of the mobo, I found F1 which is a green fuse with "TN" or "NT" on it(can't remember, I don't have it in front of me) but I could not find any f4,f16,f15,etc Only found the F1..

So after bridging the "H" fuse on top by the connector, still no luck...I am pretty sure this is the issue as the customer claimed the dog spilled some water on the laptop and after that it was "blank". Should I also bridge the "TN/NT" fuse as well?

To get faster and accurately answer, please post pictures of both side of the board around LCD connector.
If I don't see them, I can't give an answer.

I tried but my cell' camera sucks and didn't show close enough...Ok so the H fuse=F4 by the connector on the top side, was bridged and still no go, no backlight..

Found on the other side by that area an F15 green fuse, bridged that and still no luck..

I am pretty sure the one labeled H(just like the other ones labeled N) look alike so I'm sure that is the backlight fuse on this board but bridging both the fuse' I managed to find did nothing.

    Any ideas?

Hi SimpleAs-123, i have the same motherboard and the same problem as you. How do you fix it? You bridged F4 fuse labeled as H and D fuse on the other side of the motherboard both? Thanks for your reply.

Not sure about the SVS13 and ngvuanh is probably the most qualified to answer this, though it seems that you only posted pics from one side of the board (top). On the VPCSA/SBs the fuse that needs bridging is on the underside of the motherboard by the LVDS connector and i wouldn't be surprised if it were the same situation on the SVS13s.

Just thought I'd add another model to the ever growing list.

Had a VPCS11J7E PCG-51111M in the workshop today. LED fuse had blown.

This one is quite easy to bridge/replace - there's no need to remove the motherboard. Don't forget to remove the battery.

Remove the bottom case, unplug the display connector (just below the cooling fan) and you will see the fuse F14 (green with a P marking).

    vaio_a.jpg vaio_b.jpg

    Hope this helps someone.

However, I believe the one I circled yellow.

This is the case with VPCS series. If the fuse is on the other side, you have to remove the motherboard.

No one except you can fix your issue.
First to do it you need tear down your laptop, take pictures and upload here.
Pictures need to be high res and in focus around LCD connector on both sides of the board.

Yes, I can confirm it is the fuse you need to replace/short if it's blown.
However, I don't know what it is for unless you give me information of the motherboard you have.
Also, another photo showing LVDS connector is much better to know what this fuse is for.

    Hi
    i have Sony PCG-71511M (VPCEF2E1E).
The LED screen was broken so i changed it but when plugged the new one i forget to put the battery out and i saw a little spark on the screen connector.
    And no backlight at all.
With the old screen (which is broken but lightened before), the backlight doesn't work.
So i think the problem is elsewhere (on the mainboard).
So here are the photos, if someone could help me it will be very cool.
Also i have found schematics of VPCEE21E on the net maybe it could help ?

Hi coma how did you proceed to guess that fuse was the good one.
On my pc there is also a fuse identified by the same letter "N" on it but i'd like to have confirmation. (fuse F5)
Here is a photo of the zone.
    Thanks for your precious help.

    Hi all,
So as i am not an expert in soldering i hesitated several days but i hadn't any other choice than repairing it by myself so i made the bridge like you coma and it worked !!!!!
So for Sony PCG-71511M (VPCEF2E1E) the fuse is the green one marked with letter "N" on it and named F5.
    Thank you

    Hi all.

I think I have the same problem.
No back light on my two laptop screens (original:cracked, and new one I bought). In the new one, if I use a lens in front of the screen, in extremely deep darkness I can see laptop working properly.
If I connect laptop on external monitor through VGA port, I have image at the monitor and I can work normally.
Reading the whole thread, I believe it's a matter of fuse.
I post the mobo pictures. Sorry for cannot take better pictures, but it's the best my digital camera can do. That's why it's so many. I hope some of them help you come in a conclusion.
I hope you can tell me which fuse I have to deal with

It's about SONY Vaio VPCEB4E1E or else PCG-71311M.

    Thank you !
