This means that the "structure" on which the proprietary Sony ssd is fixed (like this: so2AI.jpg ) can contain a standard SATA SSD?

Now you caught me... looks bit different then I had in my mind from my S13p (but it has been a while ago...)
I have to check my laptop, and then I will post an update.

But with respect to that cable: that's 100% sure.
You need another cable when you currently have SSD (Sony RAID-0) and want to replace it with normal SSD.

    Greetings,
I'm new here, I'm looking forward to solve a SVS13 SSD replacement issue. I've read the whole thread, info dating from 2 years ago stipulate that it's a proprietary SSD (I have the 256 GB toshiba one) and that it cannot be replaced.

is that still the case ? I've been looking around, found some lif 24 to SSD adapters how it's the wrong way, it's to connect my toshiba as a regular SSD. I need to do the opposite, ie fit a new SSD on that ribbon cable.
How can I do that ? is it possible ? or is there a recommended 1.8" 512GB SSD I can buy that is compatible with my laptop ?

    thanks !

I've got a SVS1513C5E which I want to upgrade with an SSD, something like the Crucial CT256MX100 256GB.

Are these laptops still not SATA 3 compatible? Is it likely that Sony will release a firmware update? Is it even possible for them to become SATA 3 compatible?

I know that I probably won't see much (if any) difference between SATA 2 and 3 but it's disappointing to know that I'm not going to be able to get the best out of my shiny new SSD :(

I spent a lot of money on this laptop (blu-ray, full HD screen, upgraded RAM, i7 etc) - it seems like a massive oversight on Sony's part!

    Cheers

Has anyone made any progress on this? Any BIOS mods to enable SATA 3 yet?

    Please say yes!
