Is there anybody who has downloaded the hacked bios image from the original post, before it was pulled?
If so, please upload it somewhere and post a link?
Pyr0, if you are not going to share the link again, maybe you can send me the link privately?

I have a VAIO SE Sandy (PCG-41412L : VPCSE190X) and I’m currently using this unlocked BIOS (flashed it some time in 2012). Is there a way to disable WOL or the “magic packet” function? Perhaps its has a different name in the BIOS that I can’t decipher? I have been cursed by the infamous VAIO battery drain issue and still looking for a fix years later. Side note: I’ve installed Ubuntu and OSX on this thing to see if the different OS’s would provide different battery drain results…Conclusion: NO

Can you not disable the WOL and magic packet within the network properties in device manager? That's how I do it in my system.

Does anyone have the BIOS file they are willing to load onto RapidShare?

you must update bios to R2087H4 again. But it does not support SATA III. You and me need to hacked / modded version of R2087H4. It was here but pyr0 removed it for people who didn't read the instructions and brick the device.

Anyone got hacked version of R2087H4? Please upload!

Just checking here by pure chance and I wonder what went so bad that pyr0 chose to pull out his magnificent work??? Oh sure, that must probably be too many people bricking their laptops and crying to him after rushing to the action without reading the proper warnings. Well guys, normal people just don't play with their BIOS. If you choose to do so, you're obviously some kind of geek (in what stage of evolution, only you know). And as an experimenter, your should accept the risks involved, the ultimate one being that you can brick your machine.

That said, I don't think cautious people should be denied the chance to test the unlocked BIOS because of a few rushers. In fact, I think everyone should be treated like adults and --proper warnings well exposed-- given the chance to take their own risks. So here I'm re-uploading a BIOS loader with many BIOS versions, both official and unlocked, for the VAIO S. Make sure to read the _READ-ME!!.txt first.

Remember, you are taking this from ME, so don't cry to pyr0 if anything goes wrong, but also don't cry to me. as I just lack the expertise to advise.

    Hi,

I know that this post was closed some time ago, but you appear to be someone who has the expertise required to possibly assist me with what has become a VERY annoying problem.

Some time ago I bought a Sony Vaio VPCSB1H7E laptop running Windows 7 off ebay. The laptop works perfectly, is extremely quick & had no issues. However, at some point I installed Vaio Care & Vaio Update & soon after I learnt that my laptop was not recognised by either utility.

Upon investigating further, I found that the Laptops model & serial number appear as 'RESERVED' in the BIOS, hence why neither
of Sony's utilities were able to identify the laptop & thus download any drivers or updates.

Although I have got around this problem by simply downloading any drivers I need from Sony's website & using a program called
UNIEXTRACT to unpack & install each item I need manually, I would really like to correct the BIOS entries to display the correct
information in the BIOS, namely the laptop model & serial number instead of 'RESERVED.'

I have spent a considerable amount time trawling through countless websites to try to find a solution, hence why I came across
your post, but I have not as yet been able to remedy this situation,.

I would therefore be very grateful if you could advise of any possible solution to this problem.
    Thanks very much...

    @ Sinjmirza

I've encountered the same issue/similar issue on my Toshiba laptop and the only thing solution I found was to do a fresh install of Windows. I have no idea what could've caused it unfortunately.

    @ All

Since this doesn't seem obvious... Is there a way to disable the discrete graphics and only use the built-in Intel graphics?

As far as I can tell using the modded bios...

    Advanced --> Video Configuration

Special Features (Enabled) --> Change to Disabled
Primary display (SG) --> Change to IGFX

Internal Graphics Device --> Internal Graphics Device (Auto) --> Change to Enabled(?)

Is it safe to change IGD DVT Size to 256Mb instead of 128 MB?

    Best regards,
    Daniel

In wishing you a happy Christmas and New Year to all the forums, have to ask if anyone can help me to recover a modded bios for my sony vaio VPCSA2C5E with R2087H4. I recently upgraded the computer with an SSD drive samsung and I can not set properly AHCI as this setting is not present in the standard bios.
I read that there is a bios modified with access to advanced settings and perhaps also supports SATA 3 , can you help ? thanks to all of Alessandro S.

Hello everyone, these modified bios versions would probably be just what I need.

My laptop is Svs13 for which I bought a new IPS lcd panel and 2ch cable for but unfortunately the panel does not display a picture, only backlight. I can control the backlight so that proves that it is communicating with my computer. Others have said they have a similar issue after flashing a newer bios.

I have the bios version R0142C5 and the panel identifies as "vaio_lcd". If I flash a newer panel R0143C5 the panel identifies as "digital flat panel 1024x640 60hz". So there is definetly something changing regarding the display. What I would like to do is find the original R0140C5 bios but no-one seems to have it. Another option would be to modify the existing bios. Would anyone be able to help?
I would hate if the new panel goes to waste.

Hi, I forget this cautions that you said becaouse I updated this BIOS years ago...recently after installing Windows 10 I wanted to force the use of a particular graphics card and that reason has left my sony vaio sa bricked state. . __ (It is possible to reset the BIOS to default settings and a switch that works by updating hardware or offline via USB ?. Thanks in advance.

I know this is an old message, but if you dare to take apart the laptop, there is a battery that can unplug from the motherboard. You will have to remove the motherboard as the battery is on the bottom. It might just reset all the bios settings to default if you disconnect the battery for 30 seconds to 30 minutes. Not sure if it will work on a laptop board like this did with desktop boards but it may be a worth a shot.

I wonder if anybody still has this bios update. I haven't had a problem with it and have bought another one almost just like it and would like to configure AHCI again. I simply followed the instructions of what NOT to do and it never got bricked

Did you try it out? Once you figure out how to disassemble the VPCSA/SB and SVS series it's actually quite easy.

Hello, I would really love to modify my BIOS (the model of my laptop is: VPCSE1E1E with R2087H4 BIOS version) since it is pretty limited and I ask the old question - why the ****, Sony..? My goal is to actually make the "Wake-On-LAN" option get running... No success so far, there is no option in the actual BIOS, sadly... I set all the possible options in the Windows 7 and I can wake up the laptop with the Magic Packet but ONLY IN WHEN IN SLEEP MODE. I am not able to wake it up when it is shut down or hibernating...:-( Guys, anyone would be so awesome to re-share the hacked BIOS version so I can flash my actual one, please??? I am an advanced user and I take all the responsibility to myself. It is a hopeless situation for me...:-I Cheers and love.

Hello I know this post is very old and i've seen that pir0 hasn't logged in since late 2014 but I was wondering in anybody here has a copy of the bios and could upload it. I've just upgrade my sony vaio vpcsb2s9e with a ssd and i would like to enable ACHI on my laptop in order to get full potential of it, and I was also thinking about trying to make a hackintosh but I need this option to try it.
I guess if someone has this bios installed in their pc I could use a backup of the bios pc, am I right?

    Hello

Bricked my Sony VPC SA 2cfx. Fortunatelly I was able to remove the BIOS chip from the MB and find on the internet a backup rom. Than I flashed it.

    Unbricked Vaio!

But... now my the Model Name, Serial Number and service number (not sure), is now the one from the backup (other Vaio Laptop).

Is there any way to write the DMI info to the BIOS?

Thanks advance for all the help reading this thread.
