I think that the only solution is to reflash with an eeprom programmer.. So, no way to fix with insydeflash :(

I tried to taking cmos battery out and it does not work actually, so do you know any guide about how to reflash with an eeprom programmer :(. I get stuck.

As i know bios settings are saved to a flash memory, so taking the cmos battery doesn't help.
I'm in your same situation, without any guide :)
I've read somwhere that you cannot program the eeprom inplace but you need to desolder it before. I've just bought an eeprom programmer, next week i'll try to do something with it.

caglarsayin, search the thread, user kruegsch did what you need to do (let a specialist do) with your laptop.

pyr0, do you know the offset/length of the setup variables so we can overwrite them with the eeprom programmer?

^ Simply program the backup you created before flashing the hacked BIOS.

Works perfect! thx. I have to add but Ubuntu was still terrible to use with loud fan and high power consumption. I could not figure out why and tried Mint instead which works perfectly, maybe it was compiz.

    Hello,

I followed the instructions you have listed above, however, i got the two errors in the screenshots attached below. I have a Sony S Series VAIO VPCSA2GGX Model running the latest BIOS from Sony. What could be wrong?

Thanks for posting the tool. I have a VPCSA22GX and updated to the latest Sony BIOS (R2087H4) a couple of weeks ago. Ever since the update battery charging is totally hosed - simply won't charge either the internal battery or the slice. I've been through all of Sony's troubleshooting steps - no luck. Ironically the update was supposed to address battery charging issues. Anyway, I didn't back up the BIOS that was installed, and in fact, I'm not even sure what version it was. I contacted Sony support and they told me it's not possible to downgrade the BIOS - that the only solution is to replace the motherboard. Hard to believe, and I pressed them on it, but they said that was my only choice, and since the machine's out of warranty, it would be at my cost. Amazing. They break it, I buy it. Sorry for the long-winded post, but I'm still steaming about this. So... my simple question is, will one of the BIOS versions in your tool work with my particular model, and do you have a recommendation for which version to use? I don't need any "unlocked" features; I'm just trying to get battery charging to work again.

    Thanks,

    Geoff

    Hi Geoff,
I can't tell for sure. Those BIOS are supposed to work with most VPCSA / VPCSB machines. But my model is different from yours and I'm not that expert to assess if it will work.
One thing that you can do is check if your model's BIOS is the same as for any other VPCSA. Mine is VPCSA390X, so if your model's release has this model listed as compatible, then I guess you should be fine loading any BIOS from the tool.
    Cheers!

Thanks. It sure looks like both our machines share the same BIOS, so as soon as I'm back in town I'll give it a try. Can't afford to brick my machine when I'm on the road!

Looks like you can. Just ask yourself if you have a strong reason to do the move before proceeding, as it involves some risk. If you do, even if your reason is just plain curiosity, then go ahead :)

    Hello.
    Thanks for answering.
I want to do because that would enable dedicated video card.
I did a clean install and nobody has given me a hand on how it should have made to function keys STAMINA-SPEED, Fn, etc..
My model is VPCSC1AFM ... I can follow the English, but some things I lost, and I do not know if in the forum, someone gave guidelines on how to do a clean install on my model. If so, could you give me a link to that?

    Cheers, and thanks again.

Por cierto, veo que tu locación es Argentina! soy argentino! jaja podrías por favor, pasarme el link donde se diga cómo hacer una instalación limpia de Windows 7 en ese modelo? me estoy volviendo loco con esto desde hace un mes.

If I flash the hacked BIOS will this allow me to install updated graphics drivers not supplied by Sony's website? I had to flash a hacked BIOS on my Z1 so I could update my graphics driver.

Recommend that you don't take the risk, as this is only for SA/SB/SC/SE series. Parts varied from model to model.

Hello, i got a bricked bios after unawear action of disable the intel gpu. I intend to reflash the current bios without exchange a new one as kruegsch on post #48 did. My vaio model is vpcse2fmy. Could any one give me a full workable dump file for bios? can i download the file from sony suport website or use Pyr0's advance menu hack file instead?

    Thanks in advance

Hi , really in need of the advanced menu bios. I read and understand all the risks and what not to do. I know it was pulled. Could I possibly get a link to it. I will not post it anywhere just for personal use. just purchased an SSD and when I run software it states that ahci is not enabled so its not preforming like it should . Currently have latest stock bios r2087h4 only option I have in bios is to show or hide raid with no available options.

    hopefully someone can help me.
