After successfully installing XP on my TZ17GN I was pretty happy for a while, but over time it has slowed down quite a lot. Not anywhere near as bad as Vista was, but slow enough to make using it difficult and frustrating.

Then I installed the Windows 7 beta on it, and WOW! It is sooo good... the looks of Vista and the performance you would expect from such an expensive laptop. If you haven't tried it, I thoroughly recommend it!

    Regards,
    Garry :)

I tried Windows 7 on my Vaio P but I have SSD on it and I didn't see much difference in the booting time between Vista and 7.

I love my TZ but Vista is killing this laptop. My plan is swap with SSD and then run a clean Vista or XP pro.

    Hi there
Can someone help me to get xp working on my tz31mn/n. It worked fine when i first downgraded it, all keys functions etc. But had a bad crash, now i have tried to get a fresh install of xp. But lost the function of the Fn key to adjust the brightness and the av-launcher doenst work at all. I have tried the order of driver installation from the sony site but cant get it working.

To anyone - or the original poster - I am attempting to slipstream a WinXP install disk with NLite but I have been unable to find the proper SATA drivers on the Intel site for this model. Can anyone tell me where exactly they are on the Intel site so I can download?

By the way - to the original poster - you updated your first post with helpful information but its only for one of about 40 types of TZ's ... the TZ3. I have a TZ2000 which apparently doesn't even exist on the sony site you linked to anymore.

Thanks for letting me know. I'll add that to the startpost.

Some of the info may still apply to other models though.
