Hi, I have an HP laptop with switchable graphics (the graphics are Intel HD and ATI 5650, the model of the laptop is DV6 3016sl). I have installed sp50640.exe, that is the latest HP official ATI and Intel HD driver. I'd like to install a more recent one, but also using the catalyst 12.1 that is in the first page of this thread, I cannot manage to install it. In the instructions it is said to install it on top of the official driver. I have the official driver, but when I launch the 12.1 setup (downloaded from the link in the first page, it is 12-1_mobility_vista_win7_64_dd_ccc_ocl.exe) , it says that everything is up to date, and I cannot put the check to install the newer versions of the driver and the Catalyst... How can I install?
    Thanks!
EDIT: excuse me, I posted in the wrong thread... :(

I didn't have any problems; I just followed the quick start guide and everything seems to be working except for automatic brightness.

There' already a new release on leshcats site - 12.x (most likely a leaked 12.5 beta).

Maybe your CCC issues will be solved by that?
The auto-brightness issues might get solved by the intel 2712 driver, had used them in 12.2 where they worked great.
Can't test right now as I'm away from my PMD.

    Loaded 12.x, two items:

    1) Did not continue automatically with the install after YUC boot.
    2) CCC still MIA.

the missing CCC issue can be fixed by doing the following:

go to the folder where you extracted the driver (by default C:\AMD\...; don't know about Leshcat drivers though) and go to \Packages\Apps\CCC2\Core-Static and scroll down until you find ccc-core-static.msi. right-click on this file and select "Repair" in the context menu. it usually takes 1 min. and then, CCC should work again.

^ That is apparently of no use, currently, there are no compatible drivers available directly from Intel or AMD that enable the switchable graphics feature on Windows 8!
If ur aware of such driver, please let us know.

Thank you very much for that great tip! but on my machine i´m not able to uninstall the older version. got problems with vbscript - i´ve registered the vbscript.dll manually. any ideas about that?

*EDIT* Found a package with that drivers to install manually through the device manager - is it ok to do this on that way? Can´t deinstall the older ones, there is also a problem with the vbscripting host.

Everything was disconnected, my older driver was 2.1.28.0. Updating Firmware without a problem. No chance to uninstall or reinstall, got this f**** vbscript error. Think the only way für me is to manual update the drivers through device manager.

I updated from the latest Sony release, everything works fine, except:
    - I can't find the Catalyst Control Center although I checked everything in the installer
    - When playing video in SPEED mode (AMD Radeon activated) the video doesn't appear in WMP (Windows Media Player), but the WMP window sized properly (when I open a HD video, then the window becomes big)

    Hi guys,

I'm from the UK and just recently got a SE VPCSE2C5E with ATI 6630m+ Intel3000.

I also bought a 24" 1920x1200 monitor to use in portrait and reading the SE owers thread it seems both are not compatible with my laptop?! Would I be able to use the external monitor in portrait mode with these drivers and if so would the resolution be supported?

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Guy

I already sent a mail to leshcat that the new drivers by Sony for the new PMD (see here) fixes the "backlight stays off after returning from sleep" bug with the 2712 Intel drivers.

He will analyze it and hopefully bring it to his driver package :)

I'm using Leshcat 12.3 (his website is down, can't get 12.4) and I'm unable to change the voltage on my 6630m?

I'm on a Sony Vaio SE.

Is there something I need to do to enable voltage changing? I'm using MSI Afterburner and have the advanced overclocking enabled (running 650/900 on stock voltage).

    Thanks

overvolting is disabled by AMD in Catalyst 11.10 and newer drivers. if you want that feature, you should use Catalyst 11.9 or older drivers. however, there seems to be a workaround which might work for our laptops as well. see this thread.

^The general install went OK but I lost my CCC again. I've tried a variety of recommended techniques (FAQ, this site, etc) to get it back, but it just won't fire. The hourglass spins a bit but that's it. The components don't even show up in Task Manager.

    (
If I do a repair using the .NET 4 version of ccc-core-static app, I then get a dialog box on starting CCC that says:

Catalyst Control Center cannot be started.
There are currently no settings that can be configured using Catalyst Control Center.

    Hey,

So I'm out on the road until next week without my PMD. However, during my flight I was recommended to try this with the PMD and Z2/Z3.

    about lucidlogix

It supposed to offload stuff to the HD 4000 giving more calculation power to the dGPU.

Kinda sounds like snake oil to me. But who knows, maybe it will help with framerates.

Anyone want to give it a shot before I get back?
