Delivery date is the date they send out the product form Japan. So if you have 23 of october as delivery date, you would most probably get the products next week.
-
Hmmm.. about being clear.. no mention on the delivery dat being the shipping date.. for me delivery is still at my door and not the mailbag in Japan
I guess this asks for a call at Sony support.. -
I called the sony support and the production of my order hasn't even started.. ?!?!?!
Still my status, for the 13' i7 8gb 256gb SSD, is delivery 22/23 but helpdesk suggests somewhere around the end of the month?!
They will let me know when they ship?
But no hard dates, shortage of components according to the employee :-(
If that is the case why haven't I be notified that the order is delayed?!
I know it is a new product but you can't tell me they haven't be stockpiling the basis first and that for the order it is just adding the 'extra' components..
Disappointed in Sony thus far! -
Well i spoke to them last week and he said that the laptop would be sent out probably on 23 of october (which was my delivery date), and i would get it of the end of october or beginning of novemer...
-
Thanks, that is good to know. I have not asked support yet, but I guess that applies for me as well (as I also have 22/23 October as scheduled delivery (! not shipping!) date). In a way, this it not even such a bad thing, because I thought about getting the Yoga 2 Pro anyway, which is not available in Germany yet. If they do become available at the same time in the end, it means I'll actually be able to compare them directly and won't be stuck with my Sony (because returnment period has run out) by the time the Yoga 2 Pro is released.
-
I got a call back from Sony Support and they told me that due to a few non working days (holidays) production was behind and items became out of stock. Now all should be ok and the production of the order, at least my order, should commence tomorrow or the day after. Then the product should be shipped directly to the receiver..
This is as Falconary already has stated by again confirmed by Sony support
So if you have an order running with delivery the 22nd or 23th.. It will take a little bit longer ! :-( -
Looks like they softened the blow for you. I called them today ( ordered on the 10th with same delivery date as yours) . As soon as their rep checked my order he told me that the production of flips was lagging far behind due to some parts shortages and she could't give me anything more specific than mid november ( maybe...) This is very dissapointing, more so that they completely failed to send out any notification whatsoever, and my order is still showing the same stupid shipping estimate. -
Have the delivery date 22/10-23/10. Called Sony hotline and they said, that the notebook will be finished (in production) on 29/10 and I can expect it around 31/10. Kind of disappointed that they didnt even send a mail.
Im at University and really need a notebook :x. -
Same for me really. I ordered October 9th, had the delivery date 22/23 October.
Support told me it will be shipped from Asia on October 29, will go from there to Lüttich (don't know the English name, it's a city in Belgium) and will probably take another 2 working days from there. So it's probably gonna be something like November 4 - 8 (IF production is not delayed further and IF there is no delay in customs etc.). Apparently, they have no stock in Europe so far. -
Just called Sony. CS rep stated there was a delay to all orders but didn't know for how long. Said her supervisor would call be back but "unlikely today as we close in 50mins!"
Always annoying when a company cannot give out proper info. I can live with a delay, but why do I need to phone multiple numbers to try and get through to someone who knows nothing? Surely a quick email to all pre-order folk saying there was a delay, we're very sorry etc etc can't be too hard. It always amazes me now bad these companies are with these basic communications. 95% of folk will understand a delay if you just be proactive and keep them informed so it looks like you have some idea of what is going on!
Ps UK number I used is 0845 6000 124 then Option 2. American accent but UK based number. Other numbers on the sony site I couldn't get to the right place from. Good luck! If the supervisor comes back with any info I'll pass it along here. -
Found a new video of the 13a but it's in Russian I think. - ÐеÑвÑй взглÑд на Sony VAIO Fit 13A: ноÑÑбÑк-ÑÑанÑÑоÑÐ¼ÐµÑ - YouTube
I was hoping to get my Vaio 13A before Nov 4th in the US but it seems doubtful as people in other countries are hearing delays
-
Looks incredible in black but I imagine fingerprints will show a lot more than on the silver model.
-
Just called Sony. They said the flip will be sent out on the 30th of Oct. (my previouse date was 22./23.).
-
hmm.. Damn.. so that is another 2 weeks.. one week before they start sending it out and another week for transport..
This is not what I've expected!!! -
Ah well. Nearly every new device is being delayed upon release. Nothing worth to stress about, in the end you will have your device and all will be good. Mine is scheduled to arrive around 28 nov. and I am also sure about it that there will be another delay.
-
I logged in Sony Store US (Student Store) to check my order and noticed there is a 10% discount on the Sony Fit Flip. They couldn't adjust the price so I had to cancel and reorder. My first order they told me would ship by Oct 30th. Now it's Nov 14th. I lost 2 weeks but at least I got $160 off.
-
Prices for the Flip 13A have gone up like crazy in the German Sony online store.
13 A with i5, 8GB RAM and 256 GB SDD is 1449 EUR now?! I ordered this exact config for 1175 EUR (with 7% discount, but still...)
Is that the same in other countries? -
Retail is $1599.99 in the US for 13A w/ i7, 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD.
-
The US are cheaper anyway, but I was wondering if prices have gone up in other countries than Germany as well, compared to when ordering started 2 weeks ago. Because around 300 EUR more for the same config is a LOT! I would definitely not have ordered if it had been that expensive 2 weeks ago!
-
You were lucky to get it at that price.
Here in the Italian store the price has been like that (actually a little bit higher) since day one: 1250 euro for the base model, 1470 as customized in your post (13A in both cases, 14A and 15A aren't so crazily expensive)
I'm hoping that the prebuilt models at stores won't be so expensive, otherwise I'll have to consider the Thinkpad Yoga, or maybe the 14A.
EDIT: Took a quick look at the other stores, and it seems that the prices haven't gone up in other countries, except maybe in France, where it went from 1140 euro (already overpriced with respect to the normal 1040 euro) to 1200 euro. -
whats wrong with the 14a?
-
It happened to me also here in Sweden, but i didn't have to cancel and reorder. The guy in the phone was really nice and told me that he would help me, and the only thing i needed to do was to send a picture of my student-id
-
Lol, i ordered the exact same config for 1040 EUR (with student discount) in Sweden. Just checked now and it's still around that price
-
I'm not a student anymore, so no student discount for me.
Maybe it's just a bug or something on the German page, 1449 EUR is just ridiculous. -
all the other models dont say pre-order now
i would assume they are in stock
2-day shipping works? -
I pre-ordered mine (13A 256GB SSD i7 8gb ram) for 1050€ in germany (first day available and 25% student discount coupon) now it would cost 1400€ (the coupon was available for 2 days and i guess it was a mistake of sony
)
-
Well, since no one (neither US, nor Europe) has received any multi-flip so far, I wouldn't count on it...
-
It's really heavy compared to the 13A, thicker and doesn't have the rear camera for document scanning. It seems that it also has less battery life.
-
It may be that the release will be on 30:th of November according to the Japanese Sony site - VAIO Fit 13A | gVAIOh | \j[
-
The Sony store says its in stock for the US.
-
Wow.. that's another month :-( I hope not.. all is payed for with some expectancy on the suppliers behalf..
So I don't believe that this counts for the orders already in the system..
I am confident in the end of october shipping .. (fingers crossed
)

Says In Stock but when you add to cart it says

Any chance the EU models will get a PCIe SSD soon?
-
I don't think SSD PCIe and SATA gonna make much change ...
I can be wrong but real speed difference is not really noticable even for power user.
Apart maybe if you want to use your laptop as a server ??? -
I don't think you can upgrade your hard drive if they put in a pcie ssd. Those things don't look like your regular ssd's
-
In Sweden you can choose a PCIe SSD disk.
-
No sorry, I thought about the Vaio Pro 13..
-
Does anybody know if its possible to install 2x16gb RAM (32Gb) on this motherboard ?
just Curious
-
Actually, it depends on the form factor:
The 13A has a M2 type slot (small card shape), so it can take either a SATA or a PCIe SSD, the only difference between them being the technology used for the data bus (no physical differences).
The 14A and the 15A have a standard 2.5" slot, and the only SSDs made in that form factor are SATA.
So, if you get a 13A, you can't upgrade the SSD no matter the bus type (unless you get an expensive M2 type SSD)
If you get a 14A or 15A, you can upgrade it, but there are only SATA SSDs available.
First of all keep in mind that the 13A has the memory soldered on board (can't be upgraded), the 14A has one DIMM slot and only the 15A has two DIMM slots.
That said, DIMMs with 16GB don't exist yet, and probably will be made when DDR4 ram will come out, so I don't think even the 15A will be able to accept so much memory.mobytoby likes this. -
yes getting the 15A, that's why i was wondering... so what are those things ?
Amazon.com: Corsair DDR3 1333MHz 16Gb DDR3 DIMM: Electronics -
also those ?
Corsair Mac Memory
Sorry those are 2x8gb -
sorry i posted DIMM ... oh well neverming , 16gb seems good for now
-
My order should be in next 5 days regaring to order page, but I just talked to sony infoline, and they told my it will be 3 weeks, and they have so many orders that they dont even have time to update online status, so you better maka a call to store. Also prices in my store are going up every day, now 14" and 15" are 200 eur more exve.
If you are undeceided on 15" there are first infor on Acer R7
Acer Aspire R7-572-54208G75ass Convertible i5-4200U 8GB 750GB FHD IPS Touch Win8 ( probably without pen support)
Acer Aspire R7-572G-74508G25ass Convertible i7-4500U SSD FHD Touch GT750M Win8
the same i7 from sony (full hd, ssd, pen) costs 1500, and acer is equiped with little better card. dont know about digitizer, if its wacom it could be better choice -
Since the picture shows 4 DIMMs, I would assume it's 4gb x 4 = 16gb. A search through google using the "whatcha ma call it" (XMS CMX16GX3M4A1333C9) confirms that it's a package of 4 at 4gb.
-
Thanks for the clarification. Do you know what would happen if I opt for the HDD on the 15A? Do you think I can still buy an aftermarket SATA SSD to replace it or would the form factor be different? Maybe If I go for the cheapest SSD option on the Sony website and then put in my own SSD? I just want to save some money by not paying Sony $800 for a 500gb SSD.
-
Does anybody know why you can't chose more then 8GB RAM if you choose a 128GB SSD? At least at the German store it is so. Is it a different form factor?
-
Too bad the trackpad is behind the keyboard. This is not something I think I will get used too fast enough for my likings.. And because the trackpad is behind the board you don't have any room left to place you palms.. so the laptop will far away from you just too be able to rest your palms on your leg or so.. I Tend to hold the laptop down on my legs by pressing on the palm rest
And 3 weeks, it is getting longer and longer.. The amount of orders prohibiting the updates should be no excuse.. Now you know nothing.. Mine is already 1/2 days due and still the status is 22/23 for delivery..
But the biggest 'problem' I have is the 'not knowing'. I am working on a 'dying' laptop.. (the temps make it shutdown, this although all fan outputs are cleared, but stressing it too much (2009 macbook pro)
)
So I really have good use for the new sony
Let's hope things will progress in our favor... -
SSD and HDD for notebooks have the same 2.5" form factor, so there shouldn't be any problem with replacements on the 15A.
It's only the 13A that, being an ultrabook, is limited to having an slim M2 drive. -
Do you know this for a fact, as I currently have a VAIO T13 Ultrabook which uses a normal 2.5" SSD Drive.
Martin -
I'm also hoping for 2,5" drive. Cost of upgrading from128 to 256gb ssd is same for all flips, and I dont think they would add some special options like mSata for 14 and 15". Maybe they limited 13" to use slimmer 2,5 drives. i've seen that vaio pro 13" doesn't have much space inside so it uses only pci-e or probably msata, but on other hand its much lighter, and cost of upgrading from 128 to 256 is about 3 times more than in flips, so this makes me thinks that vaios are using simple and cheap solution like 2,5" drive
