Seems like there is a demand for all models as the pricec also went up in Finland
    VAIO® Fit multi-flip
Base prices according to this page without student discount:
    13A: 1 119,00 €
    14A: 0 809,01 €
    15A: 1 049,02 €

when clicked: with and without student-discount
    13A: 1 229,99 € 1142,97 €
    14A: 1 019,02 € 947,68 €
    15A: 1 059,02 € 984,89 €

The 4-years warranty is also gone. I didn't know the price could go up after the announcement :(

It is actually kind of weird, because Sony seems to keep changing the basic price as well as that of components randomly.

I ordered mine for 1175 EUR (with 7% discount, so regularly 1264 EUR), at a basic price of 1044, with i5, 8GB RAM and 256 GB SSD.

Now the basic price is only 998 EUR (so almost 50 EUR lower than when I ordered) - but the price of the singly components still must have gone up loads, because with "my" configuration, it would now be 1399 EUR (instead of the 1175 EUR I paid/1264 EUR without discount it was on October 9).

It sort of looks like they are trying to find out how far up they can go with which components... If orders decrease or people complain too much, they lower the prices a bit again, probably trying to start with a low basic price now to attract as many people as possible, but putting up prices for additional components...

Quick chat with Sony today, confirms due for delivery from factory on the 31st Oct. Window given as 31st to 4th November. Mentioned there shouldn't be any more delays at present. So those who ordered fairly early should begin seeing them arrive starting next Friday or so.

nearly the same as what they told me.. Only that the orders with an original delivery date will ship on the 31st of oct (delivery about max 5 working days later).. That was based on 'official' data.. so I doubt that next friday would be something I gamble on.. I will place my bet on 7-nov-2013 before my order is fulfilled and received..But they guaranteed that there were no more hurdles that could be bad for the dates..
    We'll see!! ;-)

Just want to confirm that a standard 2.5" sata SSD will work and is user up gradable for the 15 inch model. I'm considering buying the base spinning HDD and putting my own SSD in, for a substantial savings.

Also, is RAM user up gradable as well? This would be an additional large savings if I could buy my own ram and upgrade that myself.

I was watching the prices closely. And it is really frustrating that the prices for the components have gone through the roof. 200€s for 256GB SSD and 160€s for i5 in the german store - W T F!! I was hoping for another discount like get double ssd for free. If they want my money they need to go down with the prices. :/

It's still produced in Asia, so I doubt it has anything to do with that lol. Maybe it depends on the configuration you order, or depending on the country they produce things in different factories, who knows...

Seeing that build notification emails have been sent out for orders after my initial order date. I am curious to hear if anybody from the netherlands already have received any mail about their order being built..
I ordered on the 8th of october in the afternoon.. and like the rest of all others waiting to get any more info on the process.. They say that it should start shipping the 31st but after hearing that emails have been sent out, that their order will be build in a certain timeframe, I am not so sure the 31 will be real..

Hi Guys, first time posting but I've followed this thread for a while.

I ordered in the UK on the 8th October and having rung Sony have been told "the department that is responsible for the order has not replied to the enquiry raised yet." I've been given a rough ETA of mid-November. (Original delivery date of 21st October).

Has anyone else in the UK had any news or build emails?

What are your specs? I think some specs are/were more delayed than others. So far only the German based orders have received emails as far as I know. I ordered same day as you and was quoted the delayed shipments beginning 31st Oct as I've previously mentioned. I use the UK number 0207 365 2413 as it works best for me. I may check with them again after work as things may have changed over the weekend.

    jb14 - I would be too sure about the 31 shipping :-(

Just called Sony Support again (the netherlands, routes to belgium).. And guess what.. another delay.. instead of 31-oct shipping it has moved to 3-nov production..
And still no emails from sony or any online info stating these delays.

Now lets hope that all the (german) orders, that are gonna be delivered soon, will be delivered and that the reviews are positive!! Otherwise it would be an even bigger letdown..

Dang mhensen you are correct. Just off the phone, also stated that it is due for construction "this week" (ment to be this past weekend), and due for shipping on the 3rd Nov from Japan (On a sunday & from Japan? Thought it was being built in China?). Interesting yours said 'construction' not shipping on the 3rd Nov. Wonder which it is. They said very unlikely to be any further delays (same as before). I have a trip on the 8th Nov that I thought I would have had the laptop it in plenty time for. Very tight now, will prob miss it.

I initially wondered if it had something to do with i5 vs i7 ie less i7 about, but both have been delayed. Wish Sony would just communicate with us so we knew what was going on.

I don't know..in a previous posts I mentioned I'd gambled on the 7th of nov.. Too bad it is getting close to that.. but let's hope we have our 'in construction mail, you cannot cancel anymore mail' in the coming days...

My guess is that they have got a pool of delayed orders and that now all the orders up to a certain point have been grouped by country.. So they can 'bulk' ship, although I don't know if that would work if all orders are individual orders. This based on the fact that the ones stating that they received an email are all German (if I'm not mistaken).. But this is just my thoughts, unverified..

So I hope that orders are shipped out any soon, so please keep us posted and we do want to see graving reviews :) (making the wait more bearable, no stories about faulty drivers and lagging pen input :) )

I think we all got the same status!! (at least I think mine changed also to production) .. But if all has changed I am curious how many they can build in a day .. assuming a 24 hour production and the current backlog.. I think 3 to 4 days before completion (hope not) and also hope that the 'new date' of the 3th of nov as shipping date is overestimated and cautious..

Assuming you've ordered, just like me, on the first day it went online in the sony store that is indeed quite long, you might wonder what would take so long.. I guess that hand labour is at a minimum.. but who knows.. perhaps they have some faults that need attention, parts that were not available and need to reinstalled by hand.. we'll see

Interesting I have been on the 'preparing tab' since about the 10th of October, but looking just now, I now have in green "Production of your unit has started in our factory." written underneath. I am pretty sure this hasn't been there before as I would have remembered it. Would advise others to check and see if this has changed for you too. Perhaps things are actually moving on now?

EDIT: Also received the build email. I see it quotes an additional 2-3 days delivery to the UK on top of the 3 - 8 Nov shipping from the factory.

For me too .. the green 'production has been start in our factory' but then in Dutch :) Fingers crossed !!! But no email stating that I cannot cancel my order anymore as production has been started ???
Should I receive this email or not ?! Well should't I get a at least any notification? For now it all has been 'We've got the money and now figure it out yourself'. Never expected from a large company as Sony..

edit: Received the email last night.. shipping between 3 and 8 november

I have a question about the USB port. It says it's a charging USB port, that means I can charge other devices when the Flip is shutdown or that I can charge the flip with an extern battery over the USB port?

Are there any extern batterys for charging the flip?

As far as I've understood is the charging USB for charging other devices, even when shutdown..

Not to charge the Flip itself

    Hello all,

First time poster, but I've been silently watching this (and Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga) forums for comments. For any potential US owners interested, it looks like Best Buy is now starting to get some stock of the 13A model (possibly 14/15, but I didn't check for those).

I was able to pick up the 13A model for in-store pickup this afternoon -- only two stores in the Atlanta area seemed to have them as of noon today. One word of caution -- while the pictures on their site show the stylus, it isn't included.

Are you planning on giving a review/images for the forum? it would be nice to see one froma stateside user other than the media.

As for the stylus, the Sony website does state that the only model including the stylus is the 15A, for all others its optional.

maybe its me or i missed it somehow, but I have yet to see any video about using the N-Trip/stylus and palm rejection. every video I've seen so far has the user using the stylus with their arm up not touching the screen.

Actually the only model included with the stylus should be 13A. All the sony pr-material has claimed so and so does their website. Could you be kind enough and specify from which site did you get the info that the 15A does come with a stylus included?

Pausanius: Perhaps you should contact your local sony online store or rather support and inform them.

    Hi TwoSpirits,

It's been a few days since I've tried the Sony site (as it always seems to time out when updating options on the configure screen), although I was fairly certain that when these were announced, it was only the 13A that was guaranteed the Stylus and rear camera. Looking at it now, it does appear that has changed (not guaranteed on any model it seems).

I'll be able to post some pictures later on this evening -- I do have some not so good news to report:

    * The laptop won't stay on.

Got it home, plugged it in and it went through the normal boot up process. I noticed a couple times the screen rotated once or twice on a flat surface, but kept going. After entering in the MS ID for first time, it began the normal Windows 8 tutorial while the system loads... and then it it shut off.

I turned it back on, loaded to the start screen and all seemed well. If I don't touch it, it'll stay on the Windows 8 start screen and look pretty. Once you start up any application (in my case, the Windows store and Xbox Music), it simply shuts off without warning.

I'll take some pictures and then head up to BBY to try and swap it out. If this forum allows video, I can film the process too (or maybe post a link to YouTube).

As for the Stylus, unfortunately there aren't any Sony stores around the ATL area. I did find a Duo 11 stylus at Fry's which should use the same NTrig technology... not sure if this stylus is for the 1st or 2nd gen Duo though (VGP-STD1). Before I open it up and test with that, I'd like to ensure the laptop actually stays on.

As some background here, I bought a i7 4500 Sony Duo 13 initially but returned it given the announcement of the Fit/Flip. I also recently bought a Yoga Pro 2 and returned it (... as you can't unsee the yellow problems you've seen it).

One additional note here -- the laptop has Windows 8.0, not 8.1 installed. Given the late release and manufacturing dates, I would have thought 8.1 would be there already...

    Pausanius,
Maybe you are right, but it is a bit confusing, depending on model. I did a side by side spreadsheet of each model a while back and was relying on that when i gave my response, but re-visiting the Sony page today it shows the following ...

    Flip 13A
    model SVF13N190X $ 1,099.99
it says digitizer stylus in the box, but when selecting view specifications from that same page it states as optional.
Now if one clicks Customized and scrolls down you see that the digitizer stylus is a $40 option and not included.

    model SVF13N13CXB $ 1,199.99
No mention of stylus In the Box, or in View Specifications

    model SVF13N17PXB $ 1,599.99
it says digitizer stylus In the Box, no mention of stylus in View Specifications

    Flip 14A
    model SVF14N190X $ 749.99
it says Digitizer Stylus (select models) "In the Box", as well as View Specifications.
when clicking Customized and you scrolls down you see that the digitizer stylus is a $40 option and not included.

    model SVF14N13CXB $ 899.99
No mention of stylus in In the Box or in View Specifications

    model SVF14N16CXB $ 1,149.99
No mention of stylus in In the Box or in View Specifications

    Flip 15A
    model SVF15N190X $ 799.99
it says Digitizer Stylus (select models) "In the Box", as well as View Specifications.
Now if one clicks Customized and scrolls down you see that the digitizer stylus is a $40 option and not included.

    model SVF15N14CXB $ 999.99
No mention of stylus in In the Box or in View Specifications

    model SVF15N17CXB $ 1,249.99
No mention of stylus in In the Box or in View Specifications

    model SVF15N18PXB $ 1,799.99
states Digitizer Stylus (VGP-STD2) In the Box, no mention of stylus in View Specifications
    This originally said Included.

As for the device not staying on, could it be a setting that is turngin off the screen after a certain amount of time?

BTW, how is your power adapter? Is it a standard one? Reason I ask is because member NauticaX posted this video back on page 47 that has me stumped as to what type of power adapter would include a ethernet/phone plug thingy.

I'm quite surprised it is Windows 8 and not 8.1. Also since turning on this laptop while plugged in the fan does not stop? This is definitely not a quiet laptop. So many updates to do considering how new this laptop is.

My power adapter is not like the one in the video. It's just a regular small brick with a USB port to charge devices off the USB.
