I had re-uploaded the IDT audio driver. Hopefully HDMI audio should work fine this time.
-
Sorry to tell you, still not working with HDMI, it blocks the tv screen, cant use volume or any other comand.
-
magnum10, I don't get what you meant by "blocks the tv screen". I have all the settings copied as of the last working driver.
Could you tell me about the error you get? -
Looks like I had missed one line in the INI, will add it and re-upload the driver.
-
When I connect the HDMI to the TV, all the controls are locked, I can not change channels, I can not increase the volume, nothing works.
When disconnecting the cable, the TV performs all I did while he was connected, by itself moves the volume and channel change until it stabilizes. -
Yes, not working, same message on TV screen.
-
I had re-uploaded the driver again. Check now and let me know.
-
No change, does not work, all commands locked. No sound in HDMI.
-
There is nothing much that I can do now, you can revert to the last working driver.
-
I will do it thanks very much.
-
What a pity!
-
I will give one more try.
Thanks for testing guys. Unfortunately I don't have a TV to test. -
I had uploaded the IDT driver again. Let me know if the HDMI works.
I also suspect that the Nvidia GPU driver has something to do with the HDMI issue. -
The IDT driver, still does not work with HDMI. Same problem as before. For your information, the one I use and works with HDMI is version 6.10.6224.7, which has always been the most stable on my FZ350FE. The NVIDIA GPU driver I'm using is the 280.26.
-
I can confirm this, same message, Not Supported Audio Signal. Nvidia driver 275.33.
-
Do you get any sound when you right click the HDMI device in playback devices and test it? It seems to produce an output.
-
If you're talking about the Windows Audio settings, well, it produces a sort of movement on that vertical bar, but this doesn't change anything. BTW, I installed the latest Nvidia driver, no change. The TV set doesn't receive a compatible audio input, thus the above mentioned message on my Sony Bravia. I believe the problem is not related to wheather the HDMI is set on or off in the playback devices, but to the kind of output audio signal, which is not decompressed properly or something like this.
-
Hey, Coolguy, I would like to add something to the previous message, I believe it's important for you to know this.
I've turned back to the previous driver which used to work well with Stereo Mix support (6.10.6224.7) and I've noticed that when connecting the notebook with the TV set through HDMI cable I didn't receive that message on TV screen even if HDMI was not selected in playback devices. Of course, the TV didn't provide any sound, but it also didn't display the message Not Supported Audio Device. I had actually noticed this before but I checked it out once again for being sure of it. Hope this may help.
Not that I'm a specialist or anything, but it seems obvious that the problem belongs to the kind of signal sent out through cable and not to the on/off switch from playback devices. -
This driver doesn't work on my FZ21M (6.10.6224.7) maybe I didn't find the correct INIs.
coolguy, why don't you upload the older 6.10.6224.7 audio driver that worked with HDMI? (i mean the one with the INIs you modded to detect all Sigmatel hardware) -
You can find the older 6.10.6224.7 audio driver that worked with HDMI with the INI modded by coolguy in
7IDT Audio 6.10.6224.7_PV_IDTGUI_V186.rar -
Thanks for the information. I think that this driver has issues with HDMI and it's unrelated to the INI settings. I will try modding a older driver.
-
You're welcome.
-
many thanks!
-
I had modded a new IDT audio driver 6.10.6365.0 (released by HP). Please let me know if the HDMI works with this driver.
Download : http://www.mediafire.com/file/ebaa4nb0ju13i3r/IDT Audio Driver 6.10.6365.0.exe -
I'm sorry to report that the HDMI sound still does not work. I tried selecting it in the IDT pannel and in the Windows audio settings where the bar moves but no sound arrive to the TV set.
I do it before and after conect the HDMI cable to the TV. -
Thanks for letting me know. Did the 6.10.6327.0 driver (the last driver I had in my post with no IDT control panel) work with the HDMI?
I know that the first driver (6224.7) that I had modded worked fine with the HDMI. -
I can´t answer that because it is a drive that I never tried.
-
Ok, I had made some modifications and exported the registry settings. Extract the attached zip file and double click to add it your system and restart.
Let me know if the HDMI works after this change (I assume you have the IDT driver installed before adding the registry setting).Attached Files:

I followed your instructions and still no HDMI sound.
-
Thanks magnum10.
Try this driver IDT Audio 6.10.6327.0.exe
Let me know if the HDMI works. This is the last driver I had. Thanks for testing. -
This driver IDT Audio 6.10.6327.0.exe works fine with HDMI but it has not the IDT control panel. Does it have any advantage over the 6.10.6224.7 driver?
-
Thanks magnum10. This driver doesn't have any advantage over the 6224.7 driver, except the newer driver version. I will copy the settings from the 6327 driver to the latest 6365 driver.
Also the newer drivers were meant for HP notebooks, whereas the 6224.7 driver was meant for Intel desktop boards. -
Thanks coolguy, understood.
-
Updated IDT audio driver to 6.10.6365.0. Please let me know if the HDMI works with this driver.
The HDMI setting configuration really seem to be a PITA with the newer IDT drivers. -
My HD crapped out and I had to do a reinstall because I couldn't find my backup image.
VGN-FZ290
Windows 7 SP1 32bit NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GT
I'm having a problem with the video driver. If I install the more recent version (step 4), I get a blue screen. If I install the signed one (step 4.1) I get a black screen.
I haven't really gone past step 4 (video drivers)
Thanks,
Adrian -
It looks like the GPU had died. Refer the sticky at the top of the Sony forum to get a free GPU replacement.
-
Can you double check that link you gave me. It's just taking me to a Sony coupon page
NM, based on you telling there is a Sony/NVidia issue, I did a search and found this.

Ok, just called them and they will be scheduling someone to come onsite to repair it. Thanks for your help! I had already started looking into getting a new laptop. Just might get some more life out of this laptop
Thanks,
Adrian -
Good for you Adrian.
My FZ-190 is still running fine with the original GPU. I am out of the extended warranty now, if the GPU dies, I would have to get a new laptop. -
Awesome compilation. Thanks. +1
-
Dear friend, HDMI is not working with this driver. I trie conect before, after etc. Does not work.
-
Do you still get the same error as before "No compatible audio formats found"? I need to really figure out why this driver is not working.
Edit: Do not uninstall the driver. Install the attached registry patch and restart. Let me know if this resolves the issue. I will give you one more last registry patch if this doesn't work, that will be it.Attached Files:

I reinstall the driver and Install the registry patch, HDMI is not working. in my case it was not the "Not compatible audio formats found" it was the TV set freeze, no volume change, no change chanel. Still the same problem.
-
Thanks for testing. Now install the patches found (my last try) in the attached zip file. You don't need to re-install the driver. Just install the patch1 and patch2 and restart to check the HDMI audio.

Sorry for bringing bad news, but it's not fixed, once again Not Supported Audio Device. Moreover, after applying patches and restarting, computer's sound freezes and when clicked in taskbar, Windows does the troubleshooting and asks for reinstalling the driver. Damn HDMI...
-
Hey, Coolguy, another thing... I've been wandering around the net, and came across a new driver for FZ series on US support site: Sony eSupport - VGN-FZ290 - Software & Drivers
Must be something important
, as Sony wouldn't publish new drivers too often, I mean, like every month or year or so...
Only that it cannot be installed, it doesn't work, don't know why. What do you think about it? -
I saw that driver update too, I already have it in my guide.
-
I now think that the IDT control panel has something to do with the freezing, because the same settings worked fine for the HDMI with no control panel. I will change the control panel settings in the INI.
-
I had re-modded and uploaded the IDT audio driver again. Hopefully this driver will fix the HDMI audio issue.
Uninstall the existing IDT driver before installing this update.
