The freezing appeared after applying patch and, I forgot to mention this, IDT control panel disappeared from Windows taskbar.

-
^ Did you install the latest driver update?
-
Yes, still no luck.
-
Do you still get the same TV freeze?
I am out of options now, except for reverting back to the old working driver.
Edit: I will give one more final try. -
No, my TV doesn't freeze, it actually shows that message the moment I connect the HDMI cable, irrespective of the status of HDMI in computer's control panel (on/off). The exact message that comes up is:
Not supported audio signal, please verify the device output. -
Thanks for testing mariofz31z. Copy and replace the attached WRT.INI in the zip file into the WDM\Vista folder of the driver package. Uninstall and re-install the driver. Try changing the default HDMI audio format from the IDT control panel.
I had removed all Sony specific HDMI settings. This is my final attempt to get the HDMI working.Attached Files:

Rajesh, no changes, audio HDMI still not working in my case.
-
Unfortunately I can report this as well, Not supported audio signal, please verify the device output.

All you guys with HDMI issues need to step up and start a little fund to buy Rajesh an HDMI compliant monitor or TV so he can properly test this.
Gary -
Ha ha, good one Gary.
-
ScuderiaConchiglia NBR Vaio Team Curmudgeon
Rajesh, I was only half way kidding! As much effort as you have put into this you deserve for folks to chip in and get you something you can use to test this stuff.
Gary -
I had reverted back to the original IDT audio driver.
-
I was thinking buying a monitor this Black Friday, but scrapped it. Do you have a HDMI capable monitor?
-
I think that I have discovered something new. Try the driver below (no control panel). If this works with the HDMI, I will add the control panel, EQ and more extras to this driver.
IDT Audio 6.10.6365.0.exe -
Rajesh, this driver does not work, then... is'nt the control panel the problem?
-
Thanks for letting me know. The control panel isn't the problem. I changed some settings in the INI.
Edit: Do you still get the same TV freeze with this driver? -
Exactly the same freeze as before.

I just bought an HDMI compatible TV set. But don't have an easy way to hook up my FZ to it. At least not at the moment. I hope to in a couple of days.
Gary -
I just found one more person to test my audio driver.
-
Try the driver below (no control panel for now) and let me know if the HDMI works. This is a older driver.
Thanks for testing the drivers for me.
IDT 6346.exe -
This driver does not install any valid sound system in the laptop.
-
My bad, I took the files from MS Update. You can try the driver (64-bit only) below from HP (installed fine in my FZ).
IDT Audio 6346.exe -
Nope. Not supported audio signal.
-
Crap, it's time for me to stop modding any newer driver then. Only the 6327 driver released by HP works.
I don't have any clue why any other newer driver doesn't work with the HDMI. Do you get any sound when you test the HDMI device from playback devices? Are you playing HDCP content in the TV? The driver itself doesn't seem to show any error playing the HDMI. -
I had changed some settings in the INF/ INI. Try this driver now. Uninstall the existing driver, restart and clean the registry using CCleaner multiple times, until no entries from IDT show up.
IDT Audio 6346.exe -
Sorry, not working, same message, no sound at all when HDMI is set as default device, otherwise seems to work well when on speakers. Don't know what is HDCP.
-
Thanks for letting me know. Do you get any sound when you test the HDMI device (set as default) from playback devices. Right click the HDMI device and test. The audio level monitor appears to work fine.
-
If you mean setting HDMI as default device without connecting the TV through cable, no, there's no sound from laptop's speakers when doing this and playing a video.
-
No. Set the HDMI as default, connect the TV, right click the HDMI device and test it. Do you get any sound from the TV?
There won't be any sound from the laptop speakers when HDMI is set as default. -
I see, but... no sound at all. Only a short movement on that vertical bar.
EDIT: But, you see... when I connect the TV, before doing any change in playback devices, that damn message appears on TV screen. -
Do you get the video in the TV? Select the HDMI as default in playback devices and then connect the TV.
-
Yes, the video goes fine. Yes, I did first select HDMI in playback devices and then connected the TV. It doesn't matter actually if I select it before or after, that message comes up anyway, not supported audio signal.
-
OK, some IDT drivers just don't work with the HDMI audio. Thanks for testing.
-
You're welcome.
-
hi Rajesh, first of all, thanks for your guide on the Windows 7 drivers installation on Vaio FZ series, do you have any idea for the bios update? thanks.

Rajesh,
I now have an HDMI TV set that I can connect to my FZ-190. I just hooked it up and right clicked on the dekstop then selected "Screen Resolution". But I only see one display, the laptop itself. If I click on the "Detect" button it says "Another display not detected".
I then clicked on "Advanced Settings". Then "Properties" and switched to the "Driver" tab. It shows I am on version 8.17.12.5721.
I also am running the IDT control panel. It shows version 1.0.6224.7 Device manager shows version 6.10.6224.7 for the "IDT High Definition Audio CODEC".
Before I test the newest stuff for you, I want toload the most recent Video and IDT audio driver that we know supports HDMI and get everything working, so I have a good baseline for future tests.
Please advise what I need to do so I can help out.
Gary -
The TV should have been detected fine. Try detecting the TV using Win + P (or Fn+F7) keys.
Any Nvidia driver should support the TV detection. The IDT driver that you have should work fine with HDMI.
You can install the Nvidia driver that I have now. -
You are welcome. There is no BIOS update for our FZ, that I know about.
-
ScuderiaConchiglia NBR Vaio Team Curmudgeon
I did use the Fn+F7 keys and the TVC was not detected. I am going thru a Vizio wireless HDMI switch as the TV is on one side of the room and the HD Cable, DVD and Computer are on the other. The Vizio swith allows me to select the source and sends it via w wirlese connection to a reciever which as HDMI output.
I wil try to directly connect (bypassing the switch) tomorrow. -
I had modded a new IDT driver. Please let me know if the HDMI works with this driver.
IDT Audio 6359.exe -
Nope, sorry, same behavior, Not Supported Audio Signal.
Coolguy, I believe you should try remembering how exactly you modded the only driver with IDT control panel which worked well, namely 6.10.6224.7. I don't know, something is not in the proper place, the audio signal is not coming out correctly through cable... -
I had used the same exact settings, the newer drivers have problems, I guess. But the same HP driver 6327 worked with the same settings, weird. I will stick with it.
Do not uninstall the driver. I will give you registry edits.
Edit: Uninstall the driver and install the driver again with the attached INI. I had removed all HDMI related settings from the INI. Also try changing the default audio format of the HDMI from the IDT control panel.Attached Files:

-
It still doesn't work, same message. Only this time there's no sound at all, not even through laptop speakers.
-
Thanks. Try this 6327 driver INI (which worked with the HDMI before) with no control panel. If this doesn't work, then I can confirm that it is the driver that is causing the issue.
Again, thanks for testing the drivers.Attached Files:

Nope, sorry, not working... not supported audio signal.
-
Thanks. I should have only one more driver 6330 to test.
-
I have a new IDT driver 6370 from Intel. Try this and let me know if the HDMI works.
IDT Audio 6370.exe -
I have a new IDT driver 6370 from Intel. Try this and let me know if the HDMI works.
This latest driver WORKS FINE!!!! with HDMI. I installed it without uninstalling the previous one to trie something different. Do not know what is the difference with the previous ones but you finally found it. Thanks for all the work you do to always have the best drivers. -
Comparing 6224 against 6370, the first allows a higher volume and even better fidelity in my opinion.
-
This is an update released by Intel. I will copy the settings over from the 6224.7 INI, if that driver had a better volume.
Some drivers just won't with the HDMI, specifically the IDT drivers released by HP.
Thanks for letting me know.
