Just follow the POST(LAMTUTU) I have quoted.Follow step by step as outlined.>>
I only rebooted after installing 1/2/3.
All other drivers were installed in that sequence but did't reboot at all >
Yes they are all VISTA 32.Don't use anything from W7
I didn't believe everything is 100./.![]()
As far as AV don't know as yet as I finished my installation 4AM and had to head out to work at 7AM.
One thing I can tell you as that W7 is much better than VISTA (IMO)
Still didn't had a chance to check BOOT/SHUTDOWN time >>
Also gotta do some tweaks and install some software >>
Next couple of weeks shall be swapping my SSD and will do another clean install on the new one.
Try your install again and let us know ..

Got this from SONY'S site

Thank you. -
After several attempts to get the Windows 7 drivers to work (mainly the FN buttons), I gave up. I even emailed Sony's tech support to see what they recommend the installation order is. Yet, I still couldn't get the brightness function to work.
I reverted back to the old Vista drivers, and everything works like a charm.
-
SONY has some W7 DRIVERS but I have no idea what they are for.(UPDATED)
AV MODE = I don't use it anyway.
++++
The only thing I have noticed is that on VISTA 32 (CLEAN INSTALL) my battery wear was 1.5 pct out of 62.640 mWh and right after clean installing W7 the wear is 3.0 pct.I have battery care enabled at 80 pct and even having the AC plugged in it reads 80 pct and after a few days just like right now it is reading 79.2 pct >> -
anyone knows, how to restore touchpad's side scroll function just like when it was in vista ?
-
I just upgraded Vista with WIndows 7 Pro and everything works perfectly. I usually prefer a clean install but this just works so much better with this Sony TZ.
-
The advantage of upgrading is that you keep all your settings.
I rather do a clean install -
i also have the model of vgntz47cn,
and was running windows 7 ultimate since version 7000, then 7077, 7100, and 7600.
so having the use of both the windows vista 32, and some of the windows 7 32 drivers, (i.e. roxio software), all is good, remember the driver for the biometeric is tricky , (first use the vista driver, then download the upek software and install). -
oh yah, i loved AV mode on my TZ back when i was still using the 1.8" HD.
i guess sony dumped AV mode on the Z because this baby boots up in 30 secs. -
After Clean Install W7 I use AV mode to launch few things only SKYPE ETC..
-
Windows 7 x86 works flawlessly on my VGN-TZ398U
Get the drivers for Windows Vista even if there are drivers for Windows 7.
After a clean install, doing the following will make your computer run without a hitch!
1. Install this: Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package (x86)
2. Download the following from here: Original Drivers
- NC driver
- MS Driver
- SD Driver
- Camera
- Sony Shared Library
- Event Service
- Control Center
- Settings Utility
4. Install everything in that order. If it helps, number each download.
5. Then download the following from esupport@sony for your model:
- Notebook Utilities
- Firmware Extension Parser
- Programmable I/O Control Device Driver
- Sony Shared Library
- Alps Pointer
6. Install everything in that order.
7. Restart
Is it working?!
Thanks to Jingjok for the original links. -
To disable the Bluetooth light, download Smart Network from here:

Hi Folks,
I have a Vaio VGN-TZ37GN/B running dog slow Vista. I want to upgrade to Win 7 but have some questions.
1. Will AV Instant mode still work after I upgrade to Windows 7?
2. Previous posters have mentioned these utilities:
Sony-Asia has it
VGN-TZ37GN : Downloads : Support : Sony Asia Pacific
but where do I find the above utilities? Is there perhaps a corresponding EU Vaio model number I should use instead?
Any help will be much appreciated.
S. -
I didn't download model specific drivers either, and my laptop works just fine. Those links I posted have been tested on a TZ 3-series notebook, and they work. Moreover, those links were from Sony Asia, and I'm in the USA. So obviously they work regardless of what country you happen to be in.
Re-read the directions I posted. Download the drivers. Install.
Honestly, it took me about 15 minutes to install every single driver. -
uncensored410, thanks for the feedback.
Does the Instant AV mode also work for you under 7?
Thanks again. -
The launcher driver is also separately available. I believe it is available on the sony-asia site or even on esupport -
No I meant can you boot up the machine into the alternative OS to watch DVD, listen to CDs, music, watch pictures from the HDD?
The 10 sec boot thing. Pressing the AV Mode button while the machine is off boots it up into the alternative OS.
Thanks.
-
Question, have you tried doing any of this on your own?
You need to install the Instant Mode software-- which, again, if you actually went to the esupport website, you could download it from there.
The buttons do boot up the computer, however, since they're not assigned to anything, it started Windows. -
I've gone to that site but it doesn't have my model number.
It has VGN-TZ370NB
Sony eSupport - VGN-TZ370N/B - Software Updates & Drivers
Do you think the Instant Mode software from this model will work with my
VGN-TZ37GN/B?
Maybe this is exactly the same model but for the American market.
Thanks for your advice. -
The only way to find out is to try it..

Until now everything fine on TZ27GN.
i followed the Jingjok guide.
Thanks a lot !!!!!! -
I just updated a Sony TZ390 from Vista to Win 7 (32 bit). By doing an "update" (not clean install) and allowing Windows to check the web for latest updates, nearly everything was working after the update (config utility, touchpad, WiFi were all tested good - others appear ok such as fingerprint and webcam). The Sprint 3G WWAN and Bluetooth required driver updates when I accessed them, but Windows did that automatically with no intervention on my part. I was both surprised and impressed. I also regained about 11 Gig of disk space (don't know why, but it was welcome on my 64 Gig SSD). Only minor issue was Win 7 Install wanted 16 Gig avail on hard drive - I needed to dump a bunch of stuff I now have to reinstall and copy back.
Operation of the laptop is now great!! -
TZ2000 here.
32-bit Win7 will not install clean on my machine without a couple devices not available in device manager.
32-bit Win7 will install perfectly when doing an "upgrade" from Vista. All devices, drivers, function keys work perfectly.
I tried to follow the guides on here, but they did not work. Any TZ2000 owners do a clean install with all devices and Fn keys working? -
-
I will try one last time with your suggestion when my SSD arrives tomorrow. -
-
FN keys do not work (except mute).
Either the SD or Memory Stick is not working.
I ordered a 64GB Renice K3VLAR. Even though the 25nm Intels are due in Feb, I figure it'll be a while before someone decides to make them with ZIF connectors.
------------------
I got FN keys to work. (Sony Notebook Utilities is what's needed)
I got the SD part to work. It looks like the driver didn't want to load unless my SD card was out of the slot. -
Yes reading reviews of the renice it seems to b a good and efficient ssd. -
I just went through trying to get SmartWi working on a fresh Windows 7 x64 install on a VGN-TZ298N with Sprint.
For anyone trying to do so on that model/OS (and maybe others, who knows), run windows update first. It will (or did in my case) install the sony firmware extension parser and the programmable I/O control device.
After running windows update and rebooting, install the Vista SmartWi app. It won't work, and it will continually crash with a bunch of .NET framework errors, but just keep clicking continue on them until they stop popping up.
next, copy the smartwi directory that was installed (from C:\Program Files\Sony\SmartWi Connection Utility) to somewhere else (I did C:\SmartWi).
Uninstall the piece of smartwi crap. (if you need bluetooth, theres additional stuff required)
Install the Vista Novatel Modem drivers.
Now I just leave both the wwan and wlan on all the time, so you might need to change this if you dont...
Make two shortcuts on your desktop to (in my case):
C:\SmartWi\WWANModuleUtils.exe /WlanOn
C:\SmartWi\WWANModuleUtils.exe /WwanOnOnly
After you first turn on the /WwanOnOnly, the modem will show up in device manager... all 4 pieces of it. You need to browse for each one to C:\Progam Files (x86)\Novatel Wireless\Drivers to install them.
Install Sprint SmartView... and you're done. Run the Wlan one to turn on wlan, run the wwanonly one to turn on wwan at the same time.
Notes: I REALLY hate the way sony make this stuff so hard to keep updated across OS versions. The TZ298N isn't that old, but the Windows 7 drivers sony has for it are incomplete, and don't even touch on SmartWi.
The windows 7 version of SmartWi I could find didn't really work because it has a reference to GOBI internal card (not Novatel like what I had) and VZ Access manager. it would work to turn on the WWAN card, but it would only stay turned on for a few minutes before turning back off. I did however keep it installed, just so I could turn on the bluetooth... but I had to disable its smartwihelper startup entry and its smartwi entry inorder to use the WWANModuleUtils.exe uninterrupted. -
Hi - I've installed W7 on a TZ31vn. it is working fine, but I cannot find a way to install either the SD card drivers or the HDD protection. When I go to the SDD card reader in the hardware manager and try to install the Vista driver downloaded from the Sony site, it says I already have the most up to date driver - but still fails to function. And I can't find any way of installing the HDD protection. Both drivers by the way do not contain executabl self-insall files as downloaded from Sony - they have to be installed via hardware manager. Can anyone help?
Thanks!

Hi, I am also having problems getting the card readers recognized. I have tried everything in this thread, without success. I have a TZ150N with Windows 7 64 bit.
The readers appear to be showing up as base system devices. Does anyone know where in my files the drivers would be? I have run the Vista drivers for installation, and they seem to install, so maybe the drivers are somewhere on the system that I can point to.
Any thoughts would be appreciated. -
Well I solved my card reader issue. The link in earlier in this thread to the Vista 64 drivers from the European site has working drivers. When I initially clicked on that link, I mistakenly hit the downloads button, instead of accepting the terms. Once you accept the terms, it takes you to a long list of Vista 64 bit drivers. They are just the bare drivers, so you need to point the card readers directly to them.

I'm trying to use a 4gb MS DUO-HG MK2 30MB/sec card as a readyboost drive and am seeing very slow speeds in HD Tune. About 6MB/sec slow. However, I was able to transfer a 500MB video file at about 30MB/sec.
What kind of speeds are others seeing with high speed cards? -

I went from Vista >> 7 and no problems whatsoever...
