How to do that?
-
I've pmD you the file
-
Thanks, I fixed both issues.
Please try this build: www.hwinfo.com/beta/hw32_366_1083.zip
and let me know if it's ok now. -
Perfect. Nicely done.
-
If you could release the installer for the beta that would be great... I tend to not use any of the beta versions because they don't have installers...
-
Actually, there's no need. I just copied everything over to the installation folder and it worked like a charm. Thanks for all your work.
-
Yep, that's easy and sufficient
There are no extra functions performed by the installer and the most Betas I release are fully stable.

Mumak can you pls explain why the temps for the Hitachi HDD appear twice.
Left is from HWiNFO32 v3.65, right is v3.67 -
It's because the the drive returns 2 temperatures: "Temperature" and "Airflow Temperature" per SMART. You should see 2 temperatures under Drives in the main listing too. I'm not sure if some drives return the same value for both or have 2 sensors, anyway I think it's better to return more values than fewer...
-
I would also suggest to not include the serial number of the drive in the sensors listing as the description in the 2 lines is the same. One can't differentiate between airflow and the other temperature. The sensor listing of version 3.65 is better. Just my opinion. If I need the serial number, I can always get it from the main window. -
As for the SMART table, the temperatures are same for both values. The airflow just needs the same parsing as the standard one and I'll do this now (so there it will report value in Celsius).
The serial numbers in sensors have been added to distinguish if you have more drives of the same model (like in your case the SSDs), which has been requested by other users.
-
-
I already got more requests to add a possibility to hide user-selectable readings in the Sensors, so I'm thinking about the best method how to do it. I just want avoid that people remove values and then claim they are not present, lost or whatsoever

Re our discussion of latency spikes here I can report that the problem is the CPU fan speed monitoring. Once that is disabled then the latency stays in the green zone. However, CPU temperature and fan speed are the two sensors that I am usually most interested in. The Dell E6410 fan is quite quiet.
John -
Thanks for the details. Please post a screenshot of the sensors, since without further details I don't know to which sensor this belongs (each sensor uses a different access method).

John -
Yes, that's it. Thanks.
Unfortunately there's not much I could do since in this case HWiNFO32 calls a DELL internal service (via SW SMI) which reads the RPM. Most probably a too-long service time in SMM causes this issue.
I'll try to improve this a bit on my side (in the next Beta), but not sure if that will help. If not, there's nothing more I can do.

Thank you for the quick service.
John -
Thanks for the feedback. I have reduced the amount of communication via DELL interface, so that seems to help. Certain communication still remains which can cause small spikes, but there's nothing more I can do.

For people that don't know, HWinfo32 has its own forum so you can still provide some feedback or ask questions.
HWiNFO and HWiNFO32 Forum • Index page -
Don't worry, the development is not ceased. This is just because of issues with forum rules here..
I'm moving part of support to the TechInferno forum (especially fan control for HP/Alienware).
-
Yep, that's the official forum.
But hey, you shouldn't post links to other sites according to NBR forum rules
-
-
Thanks for the update bro. It's sad that you won't be updating this thread anymore, but I will go wherever your software goes. Lol.
-
You can subscribe to my forum where each release is published, or subscribe to RSS feed there, or use the Auto Update feature in HWiNFO32 to always get the latest releases. Or check @ TechInferno..

moral hazard Notebook Nobel Laureate
Hi Mumak, I'm back with a netbook this time, it's a toshiba nb500.
HWiNFO32 does report the fan speed, is it possible that HWiNFO32 could change the fan speed?
I have attached the dsdt dump (used rweverything) + HWiNFO32 debug file and report.
EDIT: Didn't read above info, going to post this in the right place, ignore this post please.Attached Files:

Thanks for the data, unfortunately in this case I don't know how to change the fan speed. But I'll ask around and let you know if I get something...
-
Nice program ,tons of information.
Cheers

Hello everyone.
I have come across something which is reproducible and confusing so I thought I would ask if anyone else is experiencing the same.
Whenever I run Hwinfo32 (latest beta as of yesterday) and then run a game (to monitor temps etc..) my system will bluescreen.
The system usually gives a video driver error and upon reboot will give a second bluescreen (something about secondary card/core error if I remember correctly).
I then have to do a battery pull/power drain to get the system to work normally.
If windows asks to do a system repair (due to incorrect shut down) I will let it but after 10min it just says it was unable to make any repairs.
This only seems to happen when running Hwinfo32 to monitor temps and running a game/benching etc....
My system specs are:
M17x-R2, 940xm, 5870x2 w/ATI 11.2, 8gb 1600 ram, 256gb Samsung SSD (os); 750gb HDD (data)
I am running the latest beta bios from Dell which fixes the sleep/power issue but that is not the culprit as I had this error before running the stock A10 bios.
Do you think this has anything to do with a setting with the beta version I am running?
I have not enabled any fan control or anything else so I am at a loss.
Just want to see if anyone else notices the same?
Oh, and I JUST had both cards replaced yesterday since the slave mysteriously died after experiencing the same issue when running Hwinfo32
TIA
D. -
I assume the problem might be caused by the ATI ULPS feature. I have responded to this on Tech|Inferno.

Mumak, first of all, thank you for awesome program, it's great!
I have a question regarding HWinfo gadget, I can not get it working, the gadget says that the program is not running or sidebar support is not enabled, but in program settings I've checked the box to enable sidebar support.. What should I do to get the gadget working?
I've attached the screenshot of program window and the gadget:
Thank you in advance -
You need also to add particular readings to the gadget by checking "Report value in sidebar".

EDIT: I got it, understood how to do that

Some of the alienware hardware is not being reported correctly as it was in previous version. I can't even remember what version I had but I was sick of the popups telling me there was a new version (I know there was a check box that said to stop so don't troll on that one). I really only use the software to control my fan but was wondering if the issue was happening to anyone else.
Edit: I was using this version: 3.70_1177 -
Which hardware is not recognized properly ? Please attach a screenshot or report file. Also make sure to use the latest version (3.71 now).
HWiNFO32 is updated constantly because there are many new features included and support of new hardware.
I think that constantly updated software is an advantage. An outdated hardware information tool is soon dead..
-
Is it able to display CPU/cores utilization icons in notification area? It does it for GPU. Can't find it for CPU..
-
I just replied in your other thread.
-
^ there is no CPU usage reading...
-
Ahh, i just now understood what you are looking for.
That's because HWiNFO doesn't currently display this information.
I can forward a request to add such a feature to the author and he might add it. -
^ Well, if you're going to do that, then I'm looking forward to seeing separate CPU cores utilization icons and CPU clock.
Also, do you know if it's possible to not have Launch dialog appear on the startup? It's bothersome to hit Yes everytime after reboot just to launch HWinfo32. Thank you!
