This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    used to use zone alarm free version but now changed it to norton 2007. the new version of norton is a big improvement. no more pop ups that i had on zone alarm. i would like to try comodo but when i run the installer, it said my OS is not supported. i'm using vista home premium. any ideas?

    Comodo won't have its Vista version out till mid-April, if I remember correctly.

    Norton Internet Security 2007 here. It come with the AV program. No slowdown, no hiccups. It works inobtrusively in the background.
    Their 2007 release surely make a big difference.

    NIS 2007 is certainly a great improvement over previous Norton offerings. I ran the trial version and was very pleased. Just couldn't give up the $50 or so to buy it. I am using AVG Free instead.

    I did that, stealth on all ports. However, I failed the leak test. So I installed Comodo and passed.

    I'm using Comodo Beta 4 for Vista 32 right now. It's a pretty great firewall. I'm running it as a 'Simple Firewall' right now to replace Windows Firewall.
