What was the process before you got the Cr48 notebook? I know that you have to sign up for the program but that's pretty much it...

I just filled out the request form Tuesday afternoon during the event. Then 9 days later a box from Louisville, KY showed up at my door. I was totally shocked since I did not expect Google would be giving these things out to just any old college student.

assuming it is just the configuration of a netbook, it cost them very little in return of the information they get(I don't mean your personal info but feedbacks). Much cheaper than hiring someone to do the usability test etc.

It actually doesn't have that many features. It is almost literally just full screen google chrome. It won't run firefox.

I'm not saying Google is free from scrutiny. I am saying that Microsoft is not "the answer" for people who want to get away from Big Brother.

=p yes... I know it won't run firefox. And Chrome OS has filemanagers and built in media players etc. that the browser don't have, that's what I was referring to. I think firefox got brought up for the silliest of reasons... which is why I stopped responding (Being able to run 3rd part software =/= being able to run windows software)
