ok, I have been waiting 2 years for some software updates to allow me to upgrade to a 64bit OS. just the other day I got an invite to beta test this update which will be released sometime next year.

to do so I need a 64Bit computer. the best option is likely my Desktop or my thinkpad. (all are core2duo/quad chips)

what is the best way to do this?
    Desktop has
    Ubuntu 8.04 32bit and Vista 32bit OEM-HP
    (using Vista bootloader)

    Laptop has
    Vista 32bit OEM-Lenovo

Ideally getting it working on my desktop would be ideal but I don't want to give up Ubuntu yet.

You really only need Vista x64 and Ubuntu on there. In fact I am not even sure Vista x86 will play well if Vista is already installed.

I agree. Vista x86 is not needed. Vista x64 basically installs both automatically in one OS.
