Ok, I'm finally consistenly getting a bug with FF3, it temporarily goes inactive, you can't do anything, the screen (vista) becomes a light transparent white and after a second or two, it comes back to normal. What is going on?
PS: I used to get this in IE but it would never come back, it would actually just pop up an option box saying; application not responding, close it, or re-open it. -
This happens quite often: Start FF3 close it and then try to restart it and you get the message "There is another instance of FF3 running, close it and try again", rankles a lot and never happened with FF2.
IE7 is significantly slower than FF(2or 3), is it me or is this a general consensus? -
I don't know about anyone else, but it seems firefox 3 takes a pretty big amount of processing power. Especially when starting it, my processor fans go full throttle and there is a huge spike in processor usage. And it's not even that I have a slow computer I have a T7700 2.4ghz processor and 4gigs of ram so that's not it...Actually, come to think of it, I used the beta version of 3 in linux and it took massive amounts of processor power, so much so I had to revert to 2. Anyway, just a thought.
-
I think that we are entering a new era of web design and web browsing so things that we used to take for granted in the past such as a web browser that didn't use any processing power and barely any RAM are now out the window and now we have to accept that web browsers in general are going to take more and more power as they make things faster and conform to better web standards and make our web browsing experience better.

Whatever happened to the slim and trim browsers, dunno why they had to jack up the resource requirement of FF with the new release with no tangible benefits(read: Not even enough eye candy!!).
-
-
. ff uses to "hog" ram and spiking cpu
. with ff3, the amount of ram used can be seen/interpreted as "large/huge/out of whack" for some users, like the ones that complained about vista "hogging" ram. but a) hardly ever does ff3 spike the cpu b) it will relase ram to other "hogging" ram apps when needed
. this alone is a pretty good tangible benefits
. eye-candy? themes and extensions are there for users to customise,
cheers ... -
When I say eye candy, somehow I get an impression that IE is more beautifully crafted, usability being another story, but what IE7 lacks is I think something called a good rendering engine in which I am not so well conversant. I think it is this deficiency because of which it doesn't display pages as fast as FF or Opera.
Regarding FF3 speed I find it no superior to FF2 being simultaneously in accord with the fact that FF was always one of the fastest browsers. I really don't see any speed improvement in FF3, in fact I think it is retrograde.
No problems with resource hogging as far as it improves on previous performance-that doesn't seem to be the case with FF3.

No point in dressing one browser like another one-looks bland. Each browser has a distinctive personality and its own flavour FF had that simpleton Linux-straight to the point-no bells and whistles look but FF3 changed that. No problems with it except that it has become slightly jerky.
And the decision to use Vista's colour scheme is actually disastrous.
Check out the attached image of the faint blue colour that now appears in it, contrast this with the previous deep blue. Anyway to change this?Attached Files:

I just noticed something about FF3 on some sites that require login, often it will get this error message when you try to "submit" something after staying on that page for too long, it will not go to the next page:

I've got a FF3 problem..every time i close FF3 or restart it after an add on update or installation, i get an error message saying FF3 has crashed (see attached) Does anyone here have that same problem and how can i fix it?

Question, I have the orginal version of FF3, but now I want to "upgrade" to the 3.0.1 version. Do I have to uninstall my version and reinstall 3.0.1, or can I just download the 3.0.1 straight-up and have it "override" the original version? Thanks.
-
If not, just go to Help>Check for updates and it should update to 3.0.1 -
When I browse sites FF3 starts to use a lot of my CPU. I looked the processes bar in the Windosw Task Manager and under na CPU indicator the value оf firefox.exe was 75-80 and I couldnt do anything on my notebook... I think that that is very high value... Can you tell me how can I make it use less of my CPU ?
-
I know this has probably been asked more than once...but how do you wrap the tabs in FF?
In Opera I have around 70-80 tabs opened at all times, so if I do the same thing in FF, I won`t be able to tell them appart... -

Can you wrap the tabs or not?
I`m looking into giving FF3 a chance against Opera, since Opera with my 70 tabs eats 500 Mb of RAM. -
want giving this a shot?

TabMixPlus has an option for multi-row tabs
-
Still not working for me.
I need them to align in separate rows, like in Opera. -
Love it....it seems faster to launch than FF2
-
Having a problem installing a new theme. I can download the add-on but cannot uninstall the default theme.

No, you cannot uninstall the default theme.

-
I can`t wrap the tabs.
Going back to Opera. -

I have IE7, Firefox 3.0.1, and Opera 9.52 installed right now. It is good to have choices.
-
I finally have decided to mess with FF3 and give it a chance. It seems okay right now. I can't really tell if it is using less ram though.

Keep in mind that Firefox V2 is only scheduled to be supported through mid-December of 2008.

I have mixed feelings about Firefox 3. Firefox 2 worked perfectly on my desktop and laptop, but now I am having some problems.
I downloaded it onto my laptop, which has Vista, and it works perfectly. No problems at all. When I downloaded it onto my Windows XP desktop though, I had some problems. Mainly the fact that I can't download, delete, or use any of my add-ons. It tells me to restart it every time I look at them, but it does nothing. I posted in the Firefox forums, but I never get any responses.
It works great on my laptop though so I don't know what the problem is. -

Here is a Firefox 3 tweak that will change how firefox handles IPv4 and IPv6 protocols.
In the address bar in Firefox 3
type: "about:config"
A pop up menu will show up telling you that this will void your warranty.
Click "I'll be careful, I promise"
You will be taken to a screen with a huge search bar for finding settings.
Type: Ipv6
Ther should be a key there that states "network.dns.disableIPv6"
Double click on this to make the value "true"
This will speed up your browser because Firefox searches ipv6 first and then ipv4. Because a majority of routers do not have/or cannot have the settings to use ipv6, disabling this will speed up your browser and take of a little time from firefox using a search for Ipv6 when your hardware is typically incompatible.
