Yah I got in touch with my program admin, he setup me with an account and I get x64/x32 win7 via free download.
I have some questions though.
1. Is the download an .iso?
2. Is the download available now?
3. How are they keys sent?
4. If its available now, how is that possible when the software isn't supposed to be released for another month?
5. this is a full OEM version correct?
6. Can I install it now?
Thanks.

2) Yes the download is available now
3) You will see the keys on the "check out" page.
4) MSDN and Technet always get Microsoft software before General Availability (GA), the version you will receive from MSDN AA is the final RTM version of windows 7
5) This is a retail copy of windows 7
6) Yes you can install it now however if you have any driver issues you will have to wait till win 7 is officially released before any company will seriously address your problems. -
I guess RTM is throwing me off - RTM = OEM/Retail etc. right not like a Release Canidate or anything silly.
Installation is full I would assume, so I can do a full format, and install via a burned disk yes? thanks -
Anything you download from MSDNAA is legit it is directly from Microsoft
When you install windows 7 right now you won't see much windows updates seeing as it hasn't been release officially to the general public as yet but come October 22nd updates will start to appear to fix any issues that have appeared since the RTM code was released.
RTM means release to manufacturing so this past the RC or beta stage and is the final release. The big OEMs like HP, Dell, Acer etc actually have this very same RTM release and are installing it on systems which will be released on October 22nd.
The MSDNAA release is as I said before a full retail release which means you can do a complete clean installation with it and use anyone of the provided keys (whether they be x86 or x64) to activate it -
awesome....doing it tonight. wahoo.
-
Alright so I downloaded it and got one key for x64... am I supposed to get another key for x64? How do I do that?
I can also get 2 keys for x86 correct?
Or do I just get 1 key for x86 and 1 for x64
Thanks. -
The x64 and x86 keys are interchangeable.
With all due respect, you're really overthinking this. Do a good backup of your system and try stuff out. Half the fun is learning by doing. -
Oh no im not I installed it last night - guess I should of mentioned that hehe.
But yea, I just want to make sure I get all the keys..... so I should get 2 total? 1x64 key and 1x86 key?
I thought it was 2x each?
Thanks. -

English seems to be the only option.
Yep just English x86 and English x64......... -
In MSDNAAA you have both English and French aailable and you need to remember that the keys are not language specific, any language will work with these keys. -
MSDNAA - but there is no French Download/option I only see
Product Name Platform
Windows 7 Professional (x64) - DVD (English) Windows
Windows 7 Professional (x86) - DVD (English) Windows -

wait, the software is available at my school... from the site. does this mean that i can just download this legally? and get my own copy? i clicked windows 7 64 bit edition and it's allowing me to simply download it.
how does this work? i'm a Comp Sci major but, i feel this isn't right for some reason.
Edit:
nevermind, i just emailed the program manager and he gave me a name and password to the site -
Enjoy. -
Would that work too, its just a language pack though so I doubt it.. idk.
Thanks. -

I'll just get my GF to download them as well she won't use em. excellent! -
So I'm still a little confused. If I download Windows 7 right now through MSDNAA, how could it possibly be the actual release that's coming in October? They're not exactly the same right?
-
Yes they are.... you would be downloading the RTM (Release to Manufactures) which is going to be the version shipped on systems starting Oct. 22nd. windows update will automatically update anything else on Oct. 22nd that changes in the mean time. You just luckily get earlier access because of MSDNAA - congrats!
its a full legit final copy of Win 7 you should be using it if you have access... its quite good -
Interesting, that still baffles me lol

Wow interesting thread. Thanks! First of all, I just want to clear 2 things up then I'm good:
1. The keys from 32/64 is interchangable meaning they can use for each other.
2. Keys are not dependent of language format, meaning you can use the french version or w/e version for another liscence to win7? -
Correct -
Alrighty then! What do you think would be best...clean or upgrade from vista? Pros?Cons?
-
I should be getting my account info tomorrow from my school then I will be able to download 7 among other things
.

The key isn't based on the architecture (32bit/64bit) or language it is based on the edition. So a professional 32bit key can be used with either 32bit or 64bit professional it doesn't matter. However you cannot use a professional key to activate ultimate.
-
idk if anyone already posted this but acm student members with access to the acm msdnaa can now get up to six (6) keys since they just added the chinese-simplified language to the list (note that you can use other language keys to activate any other language)

Yup, people enrolled in any computer department's class in my college have MSDN access during the semester. That includes people doing a computer-science technologist degree and people have an optional class in CE (like Website Design). I wish i had chosen this rather than what I'm doing now. It's useful but so damn easy and not really of higher level that what I did in HS
