Try not to get Vista theme from InterfaceLiFT. The latest was uploaded in 2006, which was before the release of Vista.

Ubuntu Vista? That's a new one. lol
Nicely done. -
Yeah, I'm glad it finally works for you
Let's post your desktop picture here, Show off your Vista_ or XP Desktop!
-
Hey CeeNote that thumb nail isn't working. Doesnt give any option to open.
haOkepa: Dont make fun of my theme it was the smallest one i could fine quicke LOL -
Sorry I didn't clarify that... I just took a screenshot. You just need to click that scale thingy under every post you want to rep, not the actual thumb nail. Hope this helps!
-
Ok i got it thanks.
Also i got a ??. Why is it that when i turn my computer back on my background is not still on the desktop? I have to reload it each time. Also my rainlender is not loading either even thou i selected that option the the rainlender options. And one more thing. How do u change icons. is there any software i could use to change the theme or login screen for vista as i used style XP to change my style and login while on XP but im going to vista. if so, what could i use?
-
The desktop wallpaper should be saved. Did you right-click the picture and say "set as desktop Background"? As for changing your icons, there is a free program called "WinBubble". Just install it; you can easily change icons in the "icons" tab.
Just follow my guide if you want to change your theme. It's on the first page of this thread. I haven't figured out how to change the login screen though. -
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
okay thanx.
shame about logins though -
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
is it true that vistaglazz has to burned to a disk before it can be used, thats what i have read on some website, is this true?
-
No, just use it from within the OS but make sure to download the version of vista glazz that works with your version of vista (VG 1.0 for vista / VG 1.1 beta 3 for vista with sp1)
-
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
okay thanx. i got the 1.1 beta as im getting vista 64bit.
-
it is a lot more reliable if you your patch the files yourself, instead of having VistaGlazz doing it.
-
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
what does vistaglazz do?
so i could just path the files my self? how do i do that? i have downloaded the pack that gave me 3 .dll files can i just rename the files stated in the guide and then copy these three files over to it? -
Yup, just follow the guide linked in the first post. It worked fine for me.
-
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
you mean:
1. First download the above files suited by your operating system(i.e., 32 bit or 64bit)
2. Now login with Administrative privileges and navigate to %systemroot%\System32
3. Right-click uxtheme.dll and click properties.
4. Take ownership of the file and close dialogs.
5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for themeui.dll and shsvcs.dll
6. Right-click uxtheme.dll and click properties.
7. Give yourself (or group) Full Control permissions and close dialogs.
8. Repeat steps 6 and 7 for themeui.dll and shsvcs.dll.
9. Rename uxtheme.dll to uxtheme.old.
10. Rename themeui.dll to themeui.old.
11. Rename shsvcs.dll to shsvcs.old.
12. Copy patched files into %systemroot%\System32
13. Reboot to take effect.
14. Now you can easily apply any custom visual style. -
Yes, that is what I mean. And I used this tool to take ownership of the three .dll files.

ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
Okay thanx. ill have a look at it.
-
ArmageddonAsh: Not sure how good u r with computers but if u read through my thread u will see how big of a pain in the butt i had doing the custom themes but once I reset my laptop to system default (because i messed up patching files) i installed vistaglazz and it worked great. Just thought u might want to know. Maybe you're alot better with computers then me, which wouldnt be hard.
-
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
okay thanx. i might download that as well just incase.
edit: what does Vistaglazz do? -
VistaGlazz will patch those files automatically but you must make sure to use the correct version or else it won't work.
-
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
oh okay thanx. i have the correct version x64. as im goint to be used vista 64bit.
-
LogonStudio Vista, A MUST HAVE

Hey folks. I'm having some trouble getting Ezlo and the Aero MT Beta (squared windows) to play nice together. In short, I don't know how to combine the windows of the Beta with the task bar/windows button of Ezlo. Any suggestions?
-
You can use Restorator 2007(free 30 days trial) while follow this guide(Skip Naming and Editing parts). There's a pdf tutorial available for download at the bottom of the page.
-
Thanks I'll give that a shot this evening!
-
I'm using the guide that CeeNote put up, and in the first step, I downloaded this file: 6.0.6001.18000_AMD64_XX.rar (477.16 KB). My computer can't open it. What is ".rar"?
-
A rar file means that the actual files have been compressed. You can use a free tool called 7-Zip to extract those files:
http://www.7-zip.org/ -
Yea I did a little research and found a program called SuperNZB. I'm still going through your guide. Thanks for posting this up; it's really helpful.
-
No problemo...
-
I got to the part where I downloaded a theme and when I click on the .msstyles file, I get the following:
Attached Files:
-
-
It's the wrong file. It has to be a .msstyles file, the one you opened is .msstyles.mui. It's one of the two files with the green icons.
-
I don't see any of those files. Could you give me a good example to use for Vista 64 SP1?
-
It's one of the two files that i've circled in your screenshot. Double click each; one of them should work.
Here are some more themes for vista (sorry it doesn't say whether they're for sp1 or not):

That worked. Thanks.
-
You're welcome!
-
hey CeeNote my co-worker wants to customize his XP do u have to patch any files or anything for XP?
-
I think you can use this program to patch xp but I'm not that familiar with xp anymore as i've been using vista since it came out:
http://www.softpedia.com/get/Deskto.../UXTheme-Patch-For-Windows-XP-SP2-Final.shtml
...and make sure to download xp-themes; vista-based visual styles won't work.
