You seem to have figured it all out heh? There is a setting in the BIOS called "Firmware Capsule Updates", Google it to see what happens when you disable it!

No forced updates, correct?

The fact that Intel only services their iGPUs with DCH drivers now is a compelling reason to only purchase CPUs without iGPU, like the KF and HEDT processors. I really hate DCH driver rubbish.Vasudev, Spartan@HIDevolution and Papusan like this.

I see no difference if its DCH or not. BTW, I usually don't upgrade DCH drivers regularly and even I use same old DCH drivers for newer Win 10 version w/o any issues. The main difference is the reliance on digital herpes from Micro$lop Store. The more I can distance myself from their filth the happier I am.
-
I doubt it. Most OEMs are switching to MS Store digital downloads. I'm 100% sure my next BGA jokebook will have drivers from Windows update or MS Store.Mr. Fox likes this.
-
What part of my comment do you doubt, bro? It seems like you agree that DCH is geared toward being passed around like a digital STD in a haphazard manner from Micro$lop Store. And, the fact that I am happier when I have absolutely nothing to do with that abortion requires no agreement.
-
About reliance of DCH based drivers coupled with MS Store App updates.
DCH driver is okay but why separate the control panel or GUI to MS Store when it can be shipped within 500MB or more driver packages. That's the only part I hate. Now, you have to browse through MS Store to actually use a hardware.Mr. Fox likes this. -
Oh, it sounds like we are actually in agreement. DCH drivers (the .sys, .dll and .inf files) aren't really any different than non-DCH in the grand scheme of things, but the de-coupling of supporting software from the driver package and making a product reliant on Micro$lop store to get the Windows 10 UWP app cancer version of the control panel is diabolical. It's part of the evil plan and fits the Redmond Mafia's agenda, therefore it is feces and deserving to be abhorred. The reliance is not necessary, merely fabricated. It is all about control and manipulation. The only pleasure I derive from it is demonstrating that my contempt for their agenda is unlimited and my hatred of their plans is merciless and brutal.Last edited: Aug 9, 2020

Anyhow, does anybody has a solution for this problem? My new computer came with DCH drivers and I can't get rid of them. I uninstalled old Nvidia driver with DDU and installer keeps telling me the standard driver is not compatible with Windows and hardware on my system. Its win10, 2004 with rtx2060 Sager. I deleted .inf vendor file and nvlddmkm, still no go. Any other suggestions? Also what's a good Linux distro this days? I think I'm going to set this computer as dual boot into linux as well and start migrating into it.
-
If you downloaded the correct non-DCH driver package it should work. Also be sure you set DDU advanced options to disable the feature to automatically install GPU drivers. Be sure you are disconnected from the Internet so Windows cannot find any drivers online.
Linux Mint is awesome. It's my favorite. Pop!_OS is also very good as long as you install Cinnamon DE (unless you prefer Unity DE - personally, I hate Unity).
I find that Zorin OS is also really good. I have it on my laptop.

The evil is Microsoft Store. M$ can’t force the hardware manufacturers to put their drivers or control panel on the Store. But I expect Microsoft pay them to help increase the trafic into the Store. *Disgusting* move!
Try these steps (replace Dell with your brand) http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...-owners-lounge.826831/page-2268#post-11032236
But read this first if you want try without connecting the web ...

Read this from the NVCleanstall author... Question: It`s possible for me to go "back" from dch-driver to standard?
DCH drivers in any form or shape is cancer!!!Last edited: Aug 10, 2020 -
Thank you guys for the advice, great as usual. I'll report later how it worked out.
-
RTX needs DCH drivers you can try debloated ones here https://github.com/CHEF-KOCH/nVidia-modded-Inf or use nvslimmer or nvclean install to debloat standard package.
If you never used Mac OS or are switching from OS X then Ubuntu Budgie should be good enough. If you are long time Windows user use Linux Mint or Cinnamon LTS version.
Oh for starters, nvidia proprietary driver doesn't support fractional scaling so you need to use Intel in Nvidia optimus mode and whenever you switch to nvidia the scaling will have no effect!
This is the reason my next BGA will be all AMD. I hate proprietary drivers that break basic day-day usage due to closed blobs!
Even most Linux distros have Store app which don't force everything to be installed from store app unless you need it. -
so no workaround for RTX? damn it, my other laptop with gtx 1060 give me no problem switching from DCH to standard, so that's why the RTX one is not working. I use nvslimmer, no problem here. I was going to buy all AMD laptop also, but I didn't want to wait and the pickings were slim with AMD, now they're getting better, but I already bought this Sager, I wanted to have something for FS2020, I'm fan.
I used mac's in the past, but not fan at all, hardware and software restrictions won't fly with me, so I guess Mint it will be. Any place I can download control panel, outside of MS store? Anytime I go there I get pissed to the point I want to smash my computer to pieces and I don't have medical marijuana to keep me cool. LOL.
BTW Intel does not have non DCH drivers, do they? And why Intel graphic control panel is hidden now? it used to be right click on the desktop, wasn't it ?Last edited: Aug 10, 2020 -
Nope. http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...river-451-48-whql.833399/page-2#post-11028536
I expect you can use same solution for Intel Graphics Command Center as well.
Intel also went into Microsoft trap. Same disgusting move. Yet another reason not to buy jokebooks with iGPU supported (Clevo LGA notebooks don't have iGPU connected).Last edited: Aug 10, 2020 -
RTX does not need DCH feces. Just use NVIDIA advanced search and select "Standard" instead of DCH and you'll be set. If you just let the Green Goblin do it's thing, you will be mislead into thinking the DCH crap is the only option, but they still support Windows 7 for desktop. For laptop crap you'll need to do an INF mod for Windows 7, apparently because they think laptop jockeys are too stupid to figure it out on their own. Yes, manipulation and deception have already begun. Remember... the Redmond Mafia doesn't care what customers want. In fact, the Redmond Mafia doesn't even have any customers... only slaves and serfs. Screw 'em. We'll do what we want, however we want, until they mess things up so badly that it's no longer worth doing. Then, we'll move to Linux and say to hell with Micro$lop and their worthless digital rubbish.

I'll try it out. Downloading offline packages in appx format is great!
I thought DCH was forced which I never liked anyway! I remember getting Driver not supported error and simply went with DCH driver. I'll try installing upcoming drivers in standard format instead of DCH. -
You have to remove DCH drivers and block Windows 10 from automatically updating drivers or you will get the not supported error. You may already know that, but in case anyone else reading does not it bears mention.
-
I install updates manually if I feel like it otherwise OS, office and driver updates are not done at all! if ain't broken don't fix it is the true tried and tested.

Thanks - the WHQL version (8681) installs and works. As has been typical, the installer tries to run again after reboot, but the driver is ok.

*5 in release notes. Are you following the correct uninstallation procedure?
Starting with driver 27.20.100.8190, there will no longer be an Intel Graphics Driver entry in Add or Remove Programs as recommended by Microsoft. Additionally, Graphics and Audio drivers must be uninstalled separately and only from Device Manager, as shown in the screenshots.
Then do the DDU uninstallation process. Last point, check if all the Intel drivers (audio-graphics) is totally removed with Driver store Explorer. Delete ramaining drivers if needed with the tool and re-start.Djadit likes this. -
Good point. I have not been uninstalling the previous versions, but I have been checking to see if the new one was installed. I will uninstall first in the future and let you know if that works. The Intel Driver check thinks the new ones are installed, FWIW.
-
Yikes! I did the uninstall as described, then tried install ("Operating System not supported" - mine is 19042.508). I rebooted, and an older version of the drivers got installed. I uninstalled that, and got the "not supported" again. I rebooted, and the "basic Microsoft video adapter" appeared. Then, installation of the new drivers worked. After the reboot, as usual, the installer wanted to run again. However, Device Manager and the Intel update program think the new drivers are installed. I think I will stop there, for now.
