If it is a Windows 7 serial number from a retail upgrade disk then the answer is YES.
If the serial number is for an upgrade from Vista OEM to Windows 7 OEM from the manufacturer the answer is NO (at least not a straight forward way). I think the following would work but I have not tried it. Perform the Upgrade within Vista using the manufacturers W7 OEM disk, use the ABRbeta program (see a couple of posts back) to save the serial number and Cert. to a external USB drive or disk after the upgrade, then perform a clean install of Windows 7 from the ISO. Use ABRbeta to reinstall the serial and cert. It should work.

I want to install a clean windows 7 Home premium onto my asus g73jh A2. But im worried what might be left out when installing it. I dont want the performance to drop because im missing a program that was previously installed. Will the Driver CD install everything i need? As in turbo boost, sound, etc.

hey sorry...actually i am very curios to do a clean install of windows 7 home premium 64 bit on my acer 5740g...this guide has surely come in handy and i have read through it carefully...but for the last time will someone answer my query ....(pleas understand this situation carefully aand guide in easy steps)
i get an acer in my hand....i switch it on and start using the regular win7 preinstalled n the machine...but i dont like the idea of any bloatware on my pc so i decide to a clean install of win7 on my acer 5740g.....now what i do is...i download abr beta with win 7 supprt...backup the oem and cert keys...etc....then i download the win7 dvd ...and patch it with the efi.cfg..removal tool...and then burn the image...now when i have the dvd in my hand i pop it it....
now the real question is when i start installing or booting the dvd ..and then when it asks me to enter the serial key ,what is that i enter....is it the same key printed on my laptop's back...or some other.....and if its the same key thats printed on the back of the laptop ..then should the win7 install be full complete install or 120 day trial.....but suppose the the thing accepts the serial at the back of the lappy...then is it this moment where i backup the activation key from the files saved on my flash drive ..using the abr program....
sorry for the long post ...but please look into this and help me(keep the answer in small steps) -

Do you have the MD5Sum for those files?

I am getting ready to do a fresh install of Windows 7 Home Premium on my new hp dm4. I have a Windows 7 Professional disk that came with my Alienware M17x. Can I use the Windows 7 Professional disk to install the Home Premium version? I have legitimate product codes that came with each laptop. One for the Professional and the other for Home Premium.
Also, I know someone who purchased a new computer and used the product key from his new computer to install Windows 7 on two of his other computers. I am pretty sure it's not legal but I always thought the product key would only work on one computer at a time. He told me you could use the product key on up to three computers. So my next question is... Is he right? Can I use the product key for the Professional version and install it on both of my computers? Is it legal? If it's not, how is he getting away with it? -
Alternately, you could download the Windows 7 ISO file at the bottom of post 1 in this thread and follow the instructions given there to make such a disk.
Edit: 32bit and 64bit versions of Windows 7 are NOT on the same disk.
-
I downloaded a 64bit Win7 Iso, but I only have key for the 32bit...is it gonna be a problem?
-
-
i tried running the iso and it looks like the 64bit WIn7 is going to be installed but if I put in the 32bit key, does the OS adjust so that the 32 bit is installed?
-
-
hey ... I have a small query. In post 1, for the ISO method, there are 2 links to Each version, 32 bit and 64 bit, named Mirror 1 and Mirror 2. I whis to know if there is any difference between the two or is it really ok if I just pick one and go with it ?
-
^^^^Edit: Either link for each version yields the same file after you run the ei.cfg remover software. "Pick one and go with it".
-
Ok so I downloaded the 32-bit and 64-bit ISOs twice to verify that what I downloaded was complete and exact. How come the file from either mirrors do not match each other? Their file size are exactly the same, but when you compare them to each other they do not match. This is the same for 32-bit and 64-bit.

Update to OP: fixed links, since Gazup is annoying if you don't have adblock/a popup blocker/WOT

Trying to do a clean install of windows 7 so I can remove all bloatware....
So I have burned the ISO onto a blank disc but when I try running it all that pops up is the program to burn something onto a disc. What am I doing wrong?
I installed WinRAR to read the ISO file, will this help? Or should I simply run the setup file from my extendedSetup folder to install windows? -
Download the following file from microsoft to make either a bootable USB flash drive or disk from the ISO, it really is one of the easiest ways. https://store.microsoft.com/Help/ISO-Tool
Read the instructions at the bottom of the first post about downloading and using the ISO file. You should also download and run the ei.cfg removal tool mentioned in those instructions, that way you will have a menu of what version of Windows 7 to install, i.e. Home, Pro, etc. -
okay thanks a bunch. I think I also deleted the ei.cfg file correctly (hopefully), it must be I burned the ISO incorrectly.
Attempting to fix it now.
Edit: nevermind I think I figured out how to configure the bios to boot the DVD on startup. -
You access the formatting after booting to the Windows 7 DVD then going to the advanced menu. As I said I now forget all options available in that menu but you can figure it out. -
Ok that's strange it is stuck at a black screen now after booting the DVD...
-
Out of curiosity, if you still have the unpacked ISO from running WinRAR on your laptop, what happens if you run "Setup" in the folder you unpacked it to. You should come up with an upgrade menu. If you don't there is definitely something wrong with the ISO. You will not be able to run "Setup" as I mentioned if you are trying to run the 64bit upgrade from a 32bit OS. -
Okay it seems to have fixed itself. Sorry for all the questions.
-
This does NOT FREAKING WORK OMG!!!!
-
-
are there any traditional chinese version??
this will be convenient for me not download the language pack from windows update -
-
Hi, Im having trouble executing number 1 on the 3 file process. It says that "The application cannot find one of its required files, possibly because it was unable to create it in the folder. Please make sure that the folder in which the application is downloaded is accesible and not read only". Uhm, help?
Edit: I think I may have downloaded the wrong .box file. Hopefully this new download batch would work for me. -
does the MUI Language Packs work for every version of Windows or just Ultimate/Enterprise?
-
Technically the MUI packs are only for ultimate, but you can use Vistalizator to do it:
Vistalizator - change display language in Windows Vista and Windows 7
I'm not sure if microsoft is ok with it, but they haven't removed the post on their own forums where I found it:

Minor update to OP
-
Thanks for the guide! this is great!!
All i need to do to activate my oem install is use the ABR program right? -
-
Commissioner Anthony Notebook Consultant
OP, You are the MAN!!! Thanks so much. No more hp bloatware!
-
I cant seem to get it to work. I downloaded the Iso. Used the remover and when i try to boot from it, it shows the load screen and then blank... forever.
Why is this happeniing? -
-
-
If your program keeps failing when burning, check the settings and lower the burning speed. Don't burn at full speed.
-
Yea. I use 4x speed. But anyways. I got it to start with usb but now everytime i select a partition i get setup was unable to create a new system partition. Grrr this is frustrating.
-
-
Its not working even after reformat. I jsut get the error "setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate and exisiting system partition. See the setup log files for more information"
-
ok i downloaded the 3 files now how do i manually delete ei.cfg from them and also how do i create the iso files? im a noob at this but would like my laptop to be as efficient as possible so i am trying a clean install
-
You need to run the exe and remove ei.cfg from the folder (its all in the guide below the download links) -
Install Failure: unable to create a new system partition -
yea i figured out that i should have just kept reading lol but now in step 7 i keep getting an error :
can not open boot selector file "C:expandSetup\boot\etfsboot.com"
error3: the system cannot find the path specified
i copied and pasted and also typed it in and still got this error -
You need to enter "C:\expandedSetup\boot\etfsboot.com"
not "C:expandSetup\boot\etfsboot.com" -
Hey All, I just recently bought a dell studio 1558 and received it today. I wanted to do a clean install to get rid of the bloatware. I did not receive a Windows 7 disc, so I was wondering if I use ABR to my existing bloated Windows 7 and then once I reformat Windows 7 enter nothing when asked for serial and after its loaded, run ABR and it should be all good?
LEGAL Windows 7 Download Links (Just like Vista before!!!)
