Technically, it allows two install. I have not not needed to try over this, so sorry.
Obviously, Microsoft will not call everybody since that is not cost beneficial. So anybody who is trying to weasel their way in on this promotion should just hope that they are not the unlucky few that they decide to check on.
Also, it took me about a couple of months to get my Recovery DVDs from them. It was just simply a hard paper folder with two Office DVDs. You dont get the box like at the retail store but you do get the retail DVDs though.

Hi,
Do you happen to know what is on the DVD? For instance, Outlook does come with it, right? -
95% of Office Ultimate is one on DVD. The 2nd dvd has Business Contact Manager and Access (correct me if I am wrong).
This division is the same if you are downloading from the website since most students do not want the latter half.
Sheesh...I am talkative today - I could have just answered with, "Yes, Outlook is on the DVD." -
Access is on the first DVD/download.
-
Hi,
Thanks for the information!
I read somewhere that you can choose to downgrade office 2007 if you don't like it and get office 2003 instead, but can always upgrade back to the 2007 version in the future as that was the original license you bought...
Have anyone tried this or planning to do that?
-SRN -
My bad. I am to lazy to check but the division of the 2 DVDs is exactly like the division of the download.
-
As long as you bought a legal copy of Office 2007, you can always reinstall it on your computer. I think, as mentioned before, the EULA states that you can only install it twice, but it doesn't stop you if you try to activate it more times.
No problem
The second DVD/download just has Outlook Business Contacts Manager, and Small Business Tools.

I recently got this deal, it works great. But I do have a question. I think someone earlier said you can install the software twice on your computer. So, if that's the case, can I install this on two computers at the same time? I'm using it on my laptop now. And I was wondering if I can install it on my girlfriend's laptop for her use as well. Has anyone done something like this? I'm not very tech savvy, so forgive me if this sounds elementary. How would the software or Microsoft check/monitor something like this?
-
All I want to know is, for anyone who purchased and downloaded and got a back up disk, have you received it yet? I purchased on 12/29/07 and still havent received the back up disk yet
-
The EULA allows you to install the software on a personal desktop and a 'mobile device'. As long as you satisfy that criteria you are within the agreement. In any case the activation sends out information on the hardware on the computer it is being activated. so, if you install it on more than 2 computers, it will not activate.
-
They take awhile...a long while. Give it two months at least, then you can start calling them.
-
I actually was in touch with them yesterday - my concern was that they stated it had been shipped, and nearly a month later I have no disk. Not a big issue, since I have the .exe saved to an external hard drive, but I still want what I paid for. They said they were shipping me another disk - could be that it was lost in the mail or thrown out, since "it comes in a little white envelope" - their wording.
-
Great Deal!
I just had the fiance use her current school e-mail addy and was able to install on the desktop and the laptop problem free!
Thanks! -
I got mine within 2 weeks. Something is not right.
-
Just thought I'd give this a bump. It looks like this deal is going to expire at the end of this month.
I sure wish I were enrolled somewhere. I'd love to take advantage of this deal. I have a couple of friends in school who are very happy they got this.
-
Ahh the benefits of having a lifetime of forwarding from a University email address.
-
Are you sure that MS won't contact you to check your student credentials. Because my university e-mail still works and I am no longer a student. I am a little bit scared in MS's licensing obligations.
-
From a legal standpoint, the statement that the other copy can only be installed on a portable device does not imply anything regarding what the licensed device is i.e. the current wording of the EULA permits you to install the software on two laptops, as long as the user of laptop nr 2 is the single primary user of laptop nr 1. But as you are saying, it probably does not matter from a practical standpoint.
-
i love work. i can get it for AU$37.50 delivered
-
I finally ended up getting my disks sometime in early February. This was a heck of a deal, and I got a couple of friends to get on it as well.
-
I got in on this deal about the time this thread started, and MS still hasn't contacted me.
-
MS is not going to "check" credentials. As long as the email address has .edu at the end it's fine. Someone in India isn't going to call you up and ask for your most recent transcript or anything or contact the school and verify you are enrolled full time.
It's just another way for MS to get one more sale. -
Haha I am from India.... That's true atleast MS is getting a profit of $60. Otherwise who is going to buy this for $699.
-
They haven't contacted me either. I am glad I got this deal, it was a great price.
-
Has anyone who requested a backup DVD actually gotten one?...It's been at least a month and nothing in the mail for Ricky
-
Why do you want a back up DVD, when you can burn one yourself?
-
I dunno-I just figured that it's better to be safe than sorry
-
*BUMP*
For those of you that haven't seen this yet, the offer ends MAY 16. If you're a student and need office, this is DEFINITELY worth it.
www.theultimatesteal.com -
This is true. It has been extended for an additional two weeks (ending May 16th) for those people that are still interested in taking advantage of this software. Just thought I should set the record straight, as I purchased and downloaded Office Ultimate 2007 via the Ultimate Steal promotion last night.
Yes, it works, and yes it's worth it! =) -
I found out about this deal back in January. the ulimate steal actually contacted me through my college email. they gave me a link and user name. But it was actually $50 they were selling it to me for. I even ordered the back up disk, because their are times when i might have to store my computer. So i felt better safe than sorry.
-
BTW, the backup disks arrived a couple weeks ago.
-
*BUMP*
sorry again for sounding like spam, but today is the LAST DAY that this offer is available (according to the website).

Wasn`t this topic in the Hot Deals also... ?
-
It was on the news bits a few days ago but there was no mention of the actual ending date of the promotion, just that MS was "wrapping up" the promotion.
-
So the deal ended
RIP.
