If it has been posted before I am sorry, but I hadn't had much time to check the forums. I just saw the news, tried the link, it worked, then posted it here.

Thing is, the official download day world record thing does not start until FireFox is released officially at 10AM PDT.
-
I posted the link for people wanting to download it now. I don't feel like I should wait, just for the sake of waiting.

Oh I know, I just wanted to let people know in case wanted to participate in the making of a world record (like me).
-
Did you went into Help and chech About Mozilla Firefox? It might be RC3 again..
-
Thanks to the OP but I installed it and it took me to the page where it says thank you for testing the final candidate check back for soon for Firefox 3.
-
Ok.. so this is fake as well.. the current one on the mozilla ftp (or the link above) are RC3s... check the other forum to see why.
-
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9) Gecko/2008052906 Firefox/3.0
The download link is without any RC in it and from what I can tell the guys from the other thread said it's been released on Mozilla's FTP, so I guess this is the real deal.
Softpedia also said this is final and they have the links up and running. -
Unless they're using the RC3 build as the final, it's still RC3.
-
Mine also says "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9) Gecko/2008052906 Firefox/3.0"
Weird not sure if this is the real deal or RC3? But if it was RC3 I guess it would say so.
I'll wait for the official release to compare the two. -
RC2 had the same Gecko engine as RC2, so who knows...
It might be final. -
Firefox 3.0 Final Available for Download >>> http://download1us.softpedia.com/dl...ftware/internet/browser/Firefox Setup 3.0.exe
-
Like I've said before, they had the links... no need to post them.
-
Here's the first page i'm greeted with. So i'm still not sure if this is RC3 or 3.0 final.
http://en-us.www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/3.0/firstrun/ -
That happened to me even with a final build, so I wouldn't count that page as totally accurate. They will modify it until later tonight.
-
Yeah, Mozilla just kept the page up for release candidate, but as long as there is no RC in it, then its not an RC. The homepage is global for all RCs and Final, so once they update the page, it won't show the "Release Candidate" homepage for both the Final and RC versions.
Though I doubt this is the real final since mine is RC1, and mine shows:
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9) Gecko/2008052906 Firefox/3.0
Though Softpedia does claim to have it...

I still have version 2 and I don't remember how I moved from FF1 to FF2.
Question: if I download version 3 full, will it recognize the installation directory, the customized folder locations and all my previuos settings or should I uninstall FF2, install FF3 and then customize it again from scratch?
Or is it better to just let the update wizard manage everything and "to hell the guinness world record"? -
Thanks, but I'll just wait for the official release for a few more hours. That way, I can be sure that my download has contributed to setting the record. It's not like this final version will have any special advantage over RC3 (if any), so I might as well give it some wait.
-
Damn it... please download again for the world record... I'm not letting any ms product bust this...
-
You can count me in !
-
Firefox 3 RC3 is giving me this: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9) Gecko/2008060309 Firefox/3.0. Wait for the final.
-
Im waiting for it to be released on teh M0Z!LL4 \/\/3B$!+3 FTW
-
Calvin, it may already be released. Mozilla always releases later than posted.
-
He's also using a Linux build.
-
That may be the case, but since there is no different between RC3 and Final for Linux and Windows, it would be near impossible to tell if it's Final or RC3. Only the OS X build was changed in RC3. Waiting for them to officially release it would be the best choice in this situation.
And? All releases are released at the same time. -
There was a "Gecko/2008060309" release for Windows? That's newer than the Windows version being downloaded this morning. -
Ya, its all the same, Firefox runs on all the OSes, no difference.
-
Is this link still out of place?
-
Then perhaps Calvin does have the final release, because it's newer than the other release available this morning.
-
Final version download FTP link
ftp://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/3.0/win32/en-US/
Oops.... didn't see the previous post. -
coolguy, it's the same build as the one from the first link I've posted. It's weird since Calvin has a newer Gecko.
-
No possibility of that. The final is released today for all OS's, no exception. I'm sure i wouldn't get special treatment just because i'm using Linux.

Hi.
55 mins to go guys!

You never know maybe a Gecko gives preferential treatment to Penguins.
-
Woo 48 minutes lol. The RC's have been great so far and I love the new way of searching for bookmarks.
We've got a winner! (Name the movie
)
-
Well, it's definitely newer than the version at most of the sites posted this morning. (Gecko/2008052906 Firefox/3.0) That's the version I got from different links allegedly having the final release.
-
It's out on FileHippo.

Wait until the final comes out and download it officially. Getting it through a 3rd party not only risks giving you a virus that may be attached but you may also be getting something old, re-badged as something new. Just wait.
-
I'm on it. :O
-
Same old build as this morning. -
It's been out on Filehippo for several hours :S

-
It still says "release candidate 3" on the welcome page :S ?
-
Yes for me too. But the RC3 doesn't appear in other web pages.
-
I did the CRC32 and MD5 hash checks for FF3 and FF3 RC3:
(they are the same)
CRC32: 312B34DF
MD5: c971bb2273d24d62dd15dcdbd6030ea3
Filesize: 7,496,920 (7.1MB seen in windows) -
The welcome page hasn't been updated, but FF3 RC3, and FF3 are the same build.
