I think that RC3 is the final build.
-
No surprise there for me.
-
You are correct, sir. .....Unless they really screwed up and didn't update the files. -
The firefox site is down.
-

-
Does it count if we pull it off directly... coz the page aint working

Just checked the download link again and wonders, wonders, I was right. They always do this release, wait a few hours, then officially put it on their site thing. It's funny that the Spread Firefox site states that the download size is 7.8 MB, when it's 7.14 MB. Lots of BS from lots of users all over the Internet, just to prove that Mozilla released it earlier and didn't want people to download it, so they can have their "record".
And no, you don't catch a virus by downloading Firefox 3 from other places rather than Mozilla's page. -
Really? How about i attach a nastie one to Firefox 3.exe and have you download it? There's a risk when you download anything from a 3rd party website. It's best to get it from Mozilla. Did you download the update for Vista SP1 through some 3rd party website that you don't know the reputation of?
-
Check for updates is timing out. So will manually downloading FF3 and installing erase my current themes/extensions?
-
No.. if it's compatible, u'll retain it..
For me, adblock+ ad noscript is working directly after install (i uninstalled ff2 before installing ff3) -
^Thanks for the heads up homie.
-
blackmamba, you can also use mozbackup to back up your Firefox profile. I don't know if it can bridge the gap between FF2 and FF3 though.
Also, some extensions you're using in FF2 may not be compatible with FF3 yet so they may not work when you install FF3. You may want to completely uninstall FF2, install FF3, and download/install addons/themes/etc again. Just a thought. -
^ Thanks but everything is smooth sailing.
What I'm really impressed with is the memory consumption. Very steady and constant hovering around 106k as oppposed to around 200k with Firefox 2. -
Good to hear!

Too much paranoia from my point of view. I don't have SP1, I have Server 08. I have downloaded TBs from torrent sites and I still don't have viruses. Not everything related to torrent or 3rd party means viruses.
I have actually seen Firefox 3 "released" on some torrent sites. -
I didn't say anything bad about torrents, even though there is a risk with them. Torrents are fine if you know what you're doing but there is a risk, same thing with 3rd party websites. If i made a website that said if you download a program (my virus) it'll be awesome, you wouldn't because you take caution. But for people who barely know how to turn on their computer they would just as quickly click to download my virus as they would to eat something if they were starving. It's best to advocate official things as that clears up any confusion and disarray that may happen.
