It is pretty slow to update the stats on the website. I have finished about 10 new WU's now lol!
It should be updated with you on the board hopefully later today.![]()

what's strange is that with 290.36, f@h 7 fired right up my 260m (which will become my folding machine, contributing what it can to NBR), whereas the much more modern and faster 560m just goes BLEH! at f@h 7 and makes me run f@h 6. Weird, isn't it.

Tomorrow i need to setup my M11x to fold as well
Is there a way to see in the f@h application how many work units have been done? Im hours from home and interested to know since its been running for a few days straight.
Does the 335M in the 11x do Cuda? -
-
Always wanted to join one of these but didn't know what the name of the project was caled. Thanks DR650SE for starting this up!
-
I started running F@H 7 on it last night and the little beast has already completed like 10 work units. The CPU is useless but the 335M is doing a great job. Its doing even better than my 6990M GPUs.
I can't wait to see how many certificates it gets when Stanford finally update our team stats sheet.
I'm not sure if you can check how many WU you have done/completed DR. You may need to setup so you can log in or check remotely once you get back in.
Cheers. -
I do need to do that. Maybe tomorrow when I get home. Tired right now and the GPUs say 5 days! I think I had it all wrong or something. No idea how everything was going but it was slow is my guess.
335M it is. I'll set it up tommorrow! -
You would think with the amount of combined power F@H has at its hands, they would devote a small portion of it to update the points of each team more frequently
Until now, my credits still have not been reflected in the contribution page even though it was uploaded yesterday
-
Hows it going? You still folding atm?
Cheers. -
Looks like you gave me a reason to start folding, DR! Thanks for setting this up.
It looks like most everyone here is using their notebooks -- would anyone mind if I used my desktop computer to fold for the team? I mean, I could use my notebook (it is NBR after all) but there's so much more potential...
EDIT: For DR - One thing I also noticed on the F@H team page is that you could add a home page - could you please change it to http://forum.notebookreview.com? -
By all means please use your Desktop rig to FOLDWe don't mind thats for sure.
You would be folding so many more Proteins it should help us out heaps.
I'm trying to get a mate of mine on here folding with us as well. He has dual GTX560 Ti GPUs. So they would be perfect for Folding.
I can't wait to see what your rig churns out.
Now if only the team stats page was updated a bit more regularly. SIGH!
Cheers. -
As far as the team page, I've been trying, but for some reason it won't take. It did take the logo .jpg but I can seem to get the home page working. But I'll keep trying, and I'll email whoever I can to try and get it right.
EDIT: I think this may be related to the Stanford network outage. Posted below about it. I'll keep trying and eventually will get it.
EDIT 2: Looks like the team homepage updated finally. Though it hasn't updated the score, hopefully that will be resolved soon as more servers come back online.
Let me know if there is anything I should update the original post with. I'll try and keep it updated and relevent. -
-
Guys and Gals,
The stats page is not updating at the moment, but don't let this discourage you! I have tracked down a reason for the madness. Hopefully it will be resolved soon.
Network issue at Stanford
F@H Forum Topic
December 10, 2011
The whole Stanford campus is having a major issue due to the lack of chilled water on campus. This is causing issues for many of our servers in different server rooms. As of this moment, this is still not resolved. We cannot bring servers back on line until this is resolved. It's getting late (~10:30pm PST), so we'll check back tomorrow morning to see hopefully that this is resolved. Until then, several of FAH's servers are down unfortunately.
UPDATE 4:30am Pacific Time: Chilled water came back on line at 11pm, but several of our servers are still down. Our sysadmins will work to get them back up, but it may not be until Monday, depending on their availability on Sunday.
UPDATE 11:30am Pacific time: Our sysadmins have been in the office getting machines back on line. We're almost there, although it looks like there are a few machines which have issues resulting from the outage.
Hopefully this means when we finally get the team page updated, our points will jump significantly.
Also looks like from the FoldingForums, if you don't recieve credit for a work unit, you can post the log in the folding forum and a site admin can update them. I'm still learning a lot.
Also, anyone know what use the passkey is good for? -
Man I need some new Nvidia GPUs. The M11x little beast is killer!Folding KING lol!
Cheers. -
Haha, I can't wait to get my M11x kicking tonight!
-
My stuff isn't up yet
-
@ganzonomy, This stuff got posted on the bottom of the last page, but here is the update.
AMD GPUSThis may help to optimize AMD GPUs. I'm at work so I can't try it till later tonight.-Source
How to get the new Fahcore16 - Advance/Expert mode required
ATI/AMD 5xxx & 6xxx series only!
Doing this does not stop old core11 units from downloading and folding, it only gives you access to the new units.
If in the middle of a work unit, right-click finish then wait for it to complete.
Once it is finished, then follow the instructions
1) Click the "Configure" button in the top left, and go to the slots tab.
2) Highlight the "gpu" slot, and click "Edit"
]
3) At the bottom, under "Extra slot options (expert only), click "Add". Enter the following:
Name: client-type
Value: advanced
4) Restart your folding slot by right-clicking it and choosing "Fold".
Trying to decide if I should run the M11x on a differant account or the same account.Probable just use all systems on one account.

I'm gonna try your AMD optimisation tip. Hopefully this will push it and I can finally beat the M11x with my M18x LOL!
Oh yeah I made a new account name for pretty much each notebook, so you'll know which one is the M11x BEAST FOLDING KING LOL!
Cheers. -
Well I think from what I read this will allow us to download more complex WU which would be more points. Doesn't look like it will be optimizing much. We need to do some google digging, but thats what I was able to get from some guys at the Folding Forums.
Your running your systems separate on different accounts, is this so you can see what each system is outputting? I may break it up that way. DR650SE = M17x and DR650SE_M11x
Maybe just keep them on one account so I can move up the individual rankings? Agghh I'm so indecisive lol
The WU My GPU is ready to complete looks like it was a 6722 pt WU!
-
Hmmmm no matter lets see how it works with something a bit more complex and worth more credits.
Perhaps I need to be adding the tweak to the M11x folding KINGs workload LOL!
Cheers.
eheheh. That WU should give you a nice boost once completed!
Yeh Not really too sure. I didn't think much about the username conventions at the time. I wasn't too sure if you could use the same user name again. I guess you can and it makes sense. Hmmmmm. I guess we can change it within the program later on perhaps.
However if I were to guess even though the M11x beast is processing less complex WU credits it has done them so quickly and efficiently that it should be king of the hill LOL!We shall see though
I hope they can get the servers fixed up ASAP! Or at least crank one up and then update our scores ahahahaha
Oh and does anybody know about the "Base Credit" and "Estimated Credit"? What is the deal there?
Cheers. -
Maybe I'm slow, or my laptops are picky. Why is it that the 290.36 loaded NP8662 with a gtx 260m was able to have F@H 7 install and find the GPU straight-away, yet it can't on the NP8130 with the same driver. I have to use 6.41 for that laptop.
If someone could write out a step-by-step, idiot's guide, that would tell F@H 7 (hey, you have a GPU here, USE IT!), i'd really appreciate it. 6.41 is nice, but it tells me nothing other than what's in the 3d picture screen.
Thanks, will give rep.
Jason -
While installing F@H7, select advanced install. Eventually it will bring you to a page to select if you want uniprocessor, smp or gpu. I just selected GPU there and it just started working with the GPU once I launched F@H after it installed. I'm using the 285.62 driver if it matters.
-
Jason -
I got my M17x R2 folding on both 6990s and the 920xm, as well as my M11x folding on the 335m and cpu. SU7300 is slow lol but they account for account for it in thru scoring.
Can't wait for the scores to update. -
well, my CPU is currently crunching its WU worth 3,326 pts.
The GPU: a WU that is labelled as "unknown".
(I think i got cursed with 1 smart cpu (the 8662's p9700), 1 ok gpu (the 260m) and a stupidcomputer (my np8130)
Jason -
Looks like I'm gonna start running F@H7 on my new work lappy later next week hopefully. Just currently waiting on delivery. WooT! CUDA FTW oles!
I have also just recruited another guy at work to start folding on his work lappy right now.
@DR
Yup the M11x ULV CPU is an absolute joke LOL however the 335M is good stuff! CUDA!
Cheers. -
Folding has started on my desktop using V7.
For now, I've disabled SMP since it slowed down my computer substantially. I think I'll eventually re-enable it though.
The two GTX 460s are working like a champ - currently at 19% and 21% respectively with a little over 4 hours to go before the two work units complete. -
I disabled SMP because it lagged my computer so bad - one way to remedy it is to assign FAH the lowest priority on your computer and/or set affinity, but then it takes so much time to finish one WU so I just disabled SMP and let it use GPU instead - it seems to allocate GPU resources much better than if you used SMP.
-
Awesome guys! Looks like once the scoring server is back online we should be in some good shape.
Folding would be perfect if your in a college dorm or military where you don't have to pay for the electricityAlthough i'm running it and my M17x R2 has had it's fans on full blast since thursday night
Can't wait to see what it does to my electric bill. But its for science! It's nice to know that even if I can't use my computer for gaming when I want, at least it's doing something productive.
I'm also excited to see the stats updated because than the team page will have all the members on it. Most people started folding after the servers went down. I think people seeing thier efforts reflected in points will help get more attention. -
Their FAQ states that a CPU uses as much electrical power as a light bulb. So I imagine it won't be that bad; heck, their example states about 0.36 cents (At a Californian power plant rate) a day added to the electric bill if it is running for 24 hours a day. So for any NBRers who were afraid to bust their electricity bill by running this program nonstop, don't be afraid! Just remember to turn off your monitors!
-
Jason -
That's cheap? We pay roughly 8 cents per KWh here. Probably because we have a crap-ton of excess power?
-
jarhead, if that was where I was, i'd run dual 580s all day
. I asked LIPA, and for a 60w light bulb, running it 24 / 7 is 91 cents / day. Higher than I thought.
-
For a state with only 4 million people, I don't understand why we have four operational nuclear power plants (and two more coming) plus coal/natural gas. Unless there's some sort of secret military base here (doubt it) or we're exporting power to Georgia and North Carolina, I have no idea what we're doing with all that electricity. -
Hopefully soon we can start seeing our points appearing. This was posted by a moderator over at foldingforums.org Our points should jump by about 30,000 I would think. At the very least anyway. just a shot in the dark ballpark guess.
-
and my Sager is mine free and clear to fold (my parents financed a best buy inspiron n5030 figuring it was a good way to get a computer on the cheap)
I will say this, the GTX 260m is a heckuva folding machine... and it runs 24/7 not exceeding 67 deg C (may help that i repasted it a month ago) -
Stats updated a bit but it looks like what ever server my WU were sent to didn't make it in the update. Maybe in the next refresh. I know the servers have to be working hard to catch up on all the work units submitted during the does time. Looks like Chief is folding on three systems
-
Cool looks like the stats page has updated slightly. Some sort of an update anyway. Hopefully more to come soon.

Yup 3 systems atm and hopefully a couple more soon lol. I really need to get some more Nvidia GPUs with CUDA FOLDING!
Also it looks like there are a couple of new drivers to try out for AMD GPUs. 11.12 and 12.1
I just downloaded 11.12 and it BSOD during installation and then after the reboot it went into a BSOD loop. Fantastic. Last known config to get back in but now I have no driver installed. Time to try 12.1 preview drivers.

Work initials go to tons of different servers so you'll make it in. Just a lot catching up to do. Im waiting on a lot of its too. So you May get some points soon and the rest later. All depends on what's working at Stanford.

I leave mine on nearly 24/7 for the past two days or so. Considering that I indirectly pay for electricity via my university bill (and power isn't individually billed), I don't care about saving power haha. -
My M17x R2 has been on folding since Thursday evening on both gpu's and the cpu. M11x has been going since yesterda. Both 24/7 at least till i get my bill lol.
Edit: Just took the number 2 slot and it only added one more of my work units. I have done some valuable units i guess -
I'm going to try and do most of my folding at work now.
It's getting a bit too noisy and hot at home. So I can only do it while I am away.
Cheers. -
Hmmm...didn't seem to add me up there and I finished a couple of work units this morning.
