I don't quite follow. Care to clarify?
-
I tried vista x64. Not ready for me yet.
-
Well, I was thinking about people willing to help others that want to try x64: advices, clarifications, people to talk to, etc.
Basically a group of people willing to put an effort in moving a small part of this community to x64. I'm not trying to invent the wheel here, but there's a Linux team and I want to start one for x64.
I know there are threads in some of the forums here (Dell, HP, Lenovo), but I was thinking about this area too (Windows software).
What do you think?
fabarati, this is not the thread for this discussion. Sorry mate. -

As I told u I am very much in for such an initiative !!
-
Yeah, but there have to be more people.
-
I can help with what's not a good Idea to do. Believe me, i know all about that. And i'm not trying to have that discussion.

About? I don't want to know how many people are interested or not. All I want is people to help me with this.
fabarati, any help is more than welcomed. -

"x64 is the future.. where do I start?"
A 64-bit team would be great, especially when people ask for specific things (software, drivers, compatibility).
-Mike -
I'd definitely be interested.. I run x64 Vista and would also like to sort out once and for all x64 Ubuntu on AMD with ATI graphics! so yep count me in! I do have some positive experience on x64 Vista which may be of help.
It would be nice if there were an x64 thread/sub section somewhere. As it would be multi platform it would be a hard one to place but I reckon it would be useful, at least whilst x64 OS support is still pretty much still in it's infancy. -
OK, thank you...
Adding "NotebookReview x64 Team" in your signatures woun't hurt. Maybe we can even add a link to this thread.
I'd like that too sasanac, but we'll have to talk to one of the moderators to create an area somewhere.
Going to bed, will check bad either later (after Rescue Dawn) or tomorrow. -

how about this tiny gif for the x64 team

I hate animated GIFs... they were about the worst invention ever.

Apart from Flash! Flash is worse.
Anyway, count me in. (I run 32-bit Windows atm, but I used to run XP x64, and I know a fair bit about it)
I think it's important to make one distinction though. The goal is not to promote x64 as such. Some people do have valid problems with it. What I'm interested in is simply to ensure that people get objective and accurate answers to their 64-bit questions. The eternal "64-bit isn't ready, you're guaranteed driver problems" story just isn't accurate, so let's focus on the facts instead.
Anyway, since 64-bit is really a platform-specific issue, I'd suggest making a thread for it on the Windows forum.
If there's demand for it, we could make a Linux version too, but I don't think there's much point. 64-bit Linux distros are pretty straightforward, there aren't really any special issues to consider there. -
Sorry for not returning the pm earlier but Im trying to finetune...or rather get Ubuntu/Vista both X64 working to how I like it.
First step accomplished is that my mediaDirect Button is now my Ubuntu button.
Beside you guys need the token dweeb who doesnt know his #$% from a hole in the ground and well...that would be me!!! -
count me in
-
OK, it seems there are interested people.
I'd say we could all post a link to this thread in our signatures ("NotebookReview x64 Team") so that more people can join.
flamenko, you have no other choice: you're in! -
Count me in too. Have recently done a clean install of Vista x64 and i really feel its worth. Am in with this team.
-
I'll be happy to join , tried both vista x86 and x64 and happily living with x64 , can share alot of expirience.
-
Hmmmm....I used Vista 64 Ultimate on my old laptop and really liked it (used it for seven months). Part of the fun for me was finding new drivers. It's kinda like a drinker not understanding someone who doesn't drink, i.e. who wants to wake up in the morning and know that's as good as you'll feel all day?
.
But, I'm using Vista 32 Home Premium on this new laptop. I'll join when I get my 64 bit disk and 'upgrade'More people, more support, more drivers, etc....good idea.
-
Count me in. Vista x64 has been very stable and fast(er) for me so far.
-
I don't know if this is the right place to post but since it is about x64..i have upgraded to 64bit vista last night and i have found that it uses alot of ram when compared to 32bit, usually it will be 41% when i have opera, vso dvd convertor, windows media player, MSN messenger or WLM and maybe even firefox open in the background, i have similarly open the same amount and windows update last night and the ram usage shot up to around a constant 51% , is that normal? i have 3gb ram.
-
I'm in. I just dual-booted with it. I know virtually nothing about it, but I will contribute where I can.
-
Im in. I remember the good old days, Trying to find drivers for the brand spanking new XP pro x64 edition.
-
I am reformatting/reinstalling an HP dv9030us (Came preloaded with XP Media Center 2005) and want to install x64 XP Pro. Can anyone tell me if HP's SWSetup folder from this notebook will install the HP software on x64 without a hitch?
-
I`m in also. I`ve been using Vista 64 ever since I got my laptop and I have been most satisfied. That is after I`ve done my homework with this OS...
-
Does having an x64 proc. get me in?
-
Hello to all.
I have used x64 operating systems for 3 - 4 years now, as soon as I gpt the AMD x2 Dual Core I jumped on board with 4GB of RAM.
I am using it for numerous tasks including but not limited to :-
Gaming
Packaging
Testing
Corperate/Buisness use
I hope I could be of some use. Let me know.... -
Sure you can I'll get a sig made for all of us
-
I have been running Vista 64 Business i like it. I have not have any problem with it. I can play all my games fine on mine.
-
I'd like a more lively thing.
In the beginning I used to have Ultimate, but it was too bloated for me, so I picked Business since it's the somewhat "hardcore" version. -
Myself... I swear by Ultimate 64...love it. For the most part though, its because i switch my SSDs around 4-5 times a week and love utilizing the completePCbackup feature.
As far as bloatware with respect to other languagaes and whatnot... maybe but... I am complete at under 15Gb with Vista Ultimate/Office Suite 07/ all my songs and data as well as other tools and utilities such as HDtune/HDTach/Atto and so on and so on... -
I have a temporary sig bar in my sig, Feel free to use it!
-
flamenko well I see most features as bloatware (Media Center especially, since I have no use for it) and close to none difference between it and Home Premium (except a few features from Business).
-
Wait..didnt you just post this in another thread???
"Yes, Ultimate is the best version of them all, but it's not worth the money if you're getting the retail version."
Ya need to take a side big guy or yr gonna have to rename youself "Black to White" eheheh -
I'd like to join
. I have been using x64 since Windows XP pro x64 and can remember the fun of finding drivers and anti-virus software. I now use Vista Ultimate x64 and it seems to be much easier to find these drivers. Also used many x64 linux distros as well.
-
I am in for it. I love Vista 64, and won't go back to x86
-
i'll join as well, just reformatted last night with 64bit. feels faster, but i suppose it's because of the reformat. now i feel the need to upgrade my RAM to 4GB's...
-
Im definately in been using Vista Ultimate x64 for almost a year now and would like to contribute.
-
flamenko, yes, it is the best version, but from my point of view it doesn't suit me. I'm not into Media Center and backup and the other stuff it has, so Business for me.
-
So what exactly does this do ?
-
I've used it for 6months and so far so good. Count me in.
-
Count me in too

I would like to contribute too if possible. I love vista ultimate x64 so far... the complete backup feature is amazing!
Oh yeah flamenko helped me a lot... -
We need a master x64 list of people who use it
-
I have a Dell D630 with business Vista on it. Is there a 64 bit version on the Dell recovery disk? I would be willing to give it a go. I just use the laptop for demo purposes but do have 4GB of RAM and would like to use it all
FOR SURE 64 is the future, FOR SURE -
Just a tip. When something says will not work on x64, and it involves changing of system files, for the love of god don't do it, just to see if it reall works...

eleron911, it promotes use of x64 operating systems. There is a Linux team, why shouldn't there be an x64 team?
