It's a prolific one. I haven't found another usb-serial convertor that works with the programs I use.
Yes I have tried it on vista x64 before then switched back to 32 bit as a result. All of the other stuff works great, it's just a shame that I can't get this to work.

Is Acrobat Reader working ok on VISTA x64??
PS. Let me know if you guys would be interested in putting a small sig picture that would identify us x64 usersI can design a couple to choose from
Ps. SIGN ME INVista 64 bit in progress
Windows XP 64 on order

I'm down with a sig pic Destiny, the idea has been kicked around a few times now, but no one the lead on it.
And yes, Adobe Reader 8 works just fine.
Cheers -
I know it had problems under 32 bit Vista so it must have been solved?
I will have some time during the weekend so you can expect something then
I already have few ideas -
Adobe reader has always worked for Vista
. We are talking about the .pdf reader right?
I suggest you use foxit pdf reader. Its very lightweight and fast
You might have a hard time with XP64 though.. -
Hello party people,
I am wondering if anyone knows of a good good Imaging/Backup solution compatible with Vista x64. I just went through a pleasant nightmare while trying to restore my OS image backup (my OS is on one partition and my files on another) created with Seagate DiscWizard (powered by Acronis) NOT working, and completely losing my Vista partition.
I would be willing to pay (but if I don't, by all means, I'm not going to).
Thanks
P.S. Keep in mind I am leary of Acronis right now...but that may be b/c the Seagate DiscWizard is poo to begin with. -
The older versions of Acronis don't seem to like Vista too much. I use Acronis true image echo at work and this works for both 32 and 64 bit OSes.

Norton Ghost v14
nice, simple, easy to use and images don't take much space. You can do incremental ones that will just create an extra image with only added MB, saving you a lot of space.
I tried it on Vista 64 and worked fine
BTW. Foxit didnt read my pdf ok... I know as I designed them. LOL. And also my Vista came without the Acrobat Reader as apparently it was problematic on this system. Maybe Vista after SP1 and AR has both updated enough to solve the problem. -
Right...
As promised some samples and first ideas of x64 Team logos
Any comments, suggestions, all welcome!
There is plenty of them, and I will probably prepare more tomorrow.
I was thinking abut putting some sentences on it as well. Something like:
-Unleashed potential
-Release the 64bit power...
Let me know what do you think! -

love the last 2
-
i prefer the second logo,
-
Hey Destiny, I really like the last two, especially if the white background were to match the post window color. I would keep the white around the Windows XP/Vista and inside the x64.
Good work! -
Ok. Some new ones and I modified last two to fit the background.
Ps. Where is the author of this thread to say something??
Ps2. If you find them too big we can always go smaller -
Those are all awesome!
I'm thinking smaller, only b/c my sig block is going to be humongous otherwise -
We can use 'em?
-
Ok guys. Im going to prepare some smaller ones tomorrow, and we need the topic author to add them in the first post. JCMS, I guess if you hold on untill tomorrow you will have a bigger list to choose from
Also, links to files might change if I upload new versions.
-
okay no problem

Can I join???
I've got Vista Ultimate x64, XP Pro x64, Ubuntu 8.04 x64, and another cough**unnamed**cough x64 Operating System -
Why do you need so many systems on one machine??

jk
but seriously i just like to tinker -

For those who do not know how to add a sig, probably will be best to PM me -
I made a little userbar if anybody likes them:
-
Ahaha thanks guys
-
Thanks Destiny!
-
add me to the list, what a process
-
I'm sorry guys. I was left without Internet for two weeks and didn't had time to check my mail and the forum. I will add the people who PMed me to the list and those I can find on these last pages.
-
Welcome back F2B !
-
Yeah, thanks. I had some problems, but it's all fine now.
-
I have been running Windows Vista Ultimate x64 for a few days now and I really like it so far. I look forward to learning all the cool things that one can do with this operating system. It's good to be part of the team:0)
-
I hope this is the right place to ask this question, but my system page says I have 4.00GB RAM, but whenever I open task manager and System Information for Windows, they both say that my total is 3261 total physical memory. Does that mean it's only seeing 3GBs of RAM? I don't understand.
-
You have a 32 bit OS.That`s why.
Only 64 bit OS can see all the 4 Gb of RAM. -
Maybe your gfx card eats some of it??
-
I have been strictly 64-bit since January 2007. Trying to migrate to 64-bit apps when I see mature opportunities. 7zip 64-bit is pure love, and my choice of 64-bit bittorrent client, Halite, is very light on resources. I use Newsbin Pro 64-bit which claims to be better at handling lots of files but I don't see too much difference. Oh and 64-bit PDF-Xchange Viewer for all my PDF reading, just cuz it's not freakin' bloated Adobe Reader.
-
Yea, 64 bit is slowly becoming the future

THAANSA3, go into your BIOS and look for a thing called memory hoisting or memory remapping. Make sure it's enabled.

I'm a complete idiot on 64bit OS's. I really want to use it cuz its def gonna be the next thing. My biggest concern is going to be finding software thats compatible with it, namely games like Bioshock, Crysis, and UT3. I've been reading that 32bit programs can run on 64bit OS but will be in emulation, is this true. Do programs like Nero and PowerISO have 64bit versions? And are there drivers for the bluetooth on a dell 1520? Again I don't know much about 64bit OS's but I would love to learn. Right now I'm using Vista Ultimate and so far I like it but that 64bit setup disc is taunting me.
-
you should not be concerned about the software. the software for 64 bit becomes more and more. but until all software is finally x64 you will have no downsides using the 32 bit emulation.
every 64 bit Os from microsoft has the built in 32 bit emulation and it´s work just like you are running 32 bit software in a 32 bit windows. you won´t even see that the program you are running is 32 bit or 64 bit, unless you check where it was installed. x64 Os´s from microsoft have seperate folders for 32 bit and 64 bit software. you just can tell what " bitness" a program has , when you see where it was installed.
that should not be concern to you. -

Are there any guides on NBR for installing Vista 64 on a dell 1520?
-
well, there is nothing special to do. just insert the disc and install vista 64. if you need to tune up your installation a little bit, like turning off indexing, stopping unnecessary processes.... the guides for 32 bit vista do apply here also.
but as scifimike stated , you better make sure you get all the drivers for your notebook. -
I'm in.

Is there a way that exists where I could set BIOS to recognize the full 4GB when I log into the x64 hard drive and the 3.18GB when I log into the x86 hard drive?Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015 -
I don't get what you mean. The 32bits can only use the 3.18GB but will show 5, 64bits will show 4 and use 4
