    1. Not a multithreaded tabbed browser
    2. Default GUI and interface is ugly
    3. You're accustomed to other browsers
    4. Other people told you firefox sucks so you follow their advice
    5. No reason, just hate firefox.

I love Firefox. And I've used Internet Explorer (7 and 8), Opera, and Google Chrome too. They just lack a certain feel.

And Firefox can be very pretty with the right theme. And the add-ons...oh lord, the add-ons. :p

I'm asking why people hate it. If you don't hate using firefox, don't vote.

Personally, I hate using firefox because it's hard to navigate, slow (due to the browser not being multithreaded) and its horrible default gui.

You forgot to include memory leaks! My friend was complaining that he once left Firefox open for an entire week (he usually leaves his desktop on 24/7) and it consumed a full GB of his 3 GB of RAM.

Also, adding the addons that make Firefox a good browser (NoScript, AdBlock, Mouse Gestures, Duplicate Tab, Undo Closed Tab Button, IE Tab, etc, etc) greatly increase the time it takes to launch, and also how much RAM it uses. Opera provides all these functions and many more, and still manages to launch faster than a Firefox clean install.

The only thing that I like about Firefox that I haven't found in Opera is DownloadThemAll - that addon is great! It was the only reason I had it on my old computer, but now I don't have Firefox on any of my computers.

It's no coincidence that Firefox keeps adding features that Opera has had for years (ie: "Awesomebar", or whatever it's called).

Isn't it better for us for browsers to "steal" ideas from other browsers to make itself better? In the end, we're the ones who are benefitting.

BTW..how do I add more options to the poll?

I use internet explorer 8 because it has most of the MS live thing which I use everyday integrated right in the browser. I also like webslices, and accelerators to improve my efficiencies. The browser also have very good default gui, I like all icons instead of a bunch of text like firefox, opera. Chrome is a bit too simplistic for me. On my netbook, chrome and IE8, opera runs the fastest, but i prefer IE8 because it has better gui in my opinion.

Is that your only reason? FF isn't the only browser that can block ads/flash/scripts. Almost all other browsers can do that.

I use a program called admucher and it works for all browsers and some external programs as well. It's much better than the "adblock" from firefox.
Opera can block ads/flash/scripts just as well as firefox.

There's really no reason to call firefox " the best browser" if the only thing you're looking for in a browser is the adblock feature.

Here's how my FF looked like before I ditched it.
left is IE8 and right is Firefox incase you can't tell the difference.

I use Opera as my main browser too mainly for the SpeedDial.

Firefox has a speeddial add-on, but it looks extremely awkward to me probably because each box looked too rectangularly. Since I always use the SpeedDial alot, I would cringe every time I look at it and it would be better off for me to just stick to Opera.

I don't know if it really still does this, but when I ditched it it was all because of two words:

    Memory Leaks

A browser should not have been able to bring down XP with 2GB of physical RAM when its the only thing running. Period.

First of all - I don't hate FF - just to make that clear, but:

I started on my Vaio on IE7 - then moved to FF3 than to Opera 9.6x onwards, now I've come bck to IE - IE8 though.

Why did I change - because the browser was more responsive - meaning the actual programme - not load times.

    Also - I don't care about customization.

i hate firefox, but i use it as my main browser for one reason:

it scales very well! I have a 1920x1200 display, 15.4". The zoom feature on firefox works much better than IE, and the last version of opera i tried.

would appreciate it if someone could save me by enlightening me as to which other browsers zoom in the same way as firefox does, as i really want to stop using it.

i dont hate FireFox, but i just prefer using Opera. Opera is just works right after install, no add-on necessary. the UI is very good and intuitive (save for the very small close button in the current windows version :(). internet performance is quick, there is gesture, i can ctrl+z or command+z to undo closed tab for example. there is continue from last session, all operation is just quick in general.

it hangs, it takes up ridiculous amounts of memory if you leave it open for a day or two, not to mention a week or two, because my laptop is on 24/7..

the bugger can at times be eating up 1.5-2gb of my 4 gigs!! never had this problem with IE...

the zooming is the only thing keeping me from moving to opera or chrome.

met up with gen kanai, the director of marketing (asia) for firefox last month for dinner, what he told me seems promising, but then again....its been that way for every release, and yet im left underwhelmed.

im not bothered about the add ons, i just want something that wont slowly eat up every bit of ram, till it hangs.

i get random hangs which result in an error which causes firefox to shut down. its really annoying when i have 20-30 tabs open on the subject im researching to write about. not to mention it slowing down the whole system because of this

Very slow cold boots. That's the bulk of it. Perhaps how it doesn't look very Vista-y is another, why I stick with IE8, but I do miss that inline spell check, minor detail though. The biggest non-related Firefox problem I have with Firefox are the users, who use it because it isn't Microsoft, and have no idea how to bring out it's full potential (at least stick Ad-Block and NoScript on it for god's sakes). It's rather annoying for me to see all these people around campus using it without any extensions (which imo is what makes Firefox one of the best browsers), and just using it to browse Facebook/Myspace, and check Gmail; IE can do that crap.

I liked firefox until I switched to vista 64. Cant get all the slowness out like I could before and I it hangs every time with the process being "unshutdownable" which then means a reboot. So thats why I hate firefox. I have used it for years and know how to tweak it just so but now I cant use it...

All well, this opera browser doesnt seem so bad and I like the speeddial. Needs tweaking though which I will get to when I have time to read up on it. Probably going to be loading firefox now and then to see if an update fixes whatever incompatability I have going on.

I don't hate Firefox, but I find that lately I'm becoming more annoyed by it. It seems to use a lot of CPU now, especially when I have multiple tabs open. I noticed after adding a few add-ons that my fan runs a lot more frequently when I'm using Firefox, especially when I'm streaming movies or watching Youtube clips. I may completely uninstall it and then reinstall, although I really like my add-ons.

In case anyone is wondering what add-ons I have installed, here they are:

    - Adblock Plus
    - Ctrl-Tab
    - Fission
    - NoScript
    - Read it Later
    - Thumbstrips

FF was slow to start up, but really thats the only thing i did not like about it. I now have Glasser affect for FF, and its really kind of nice. i just cant stop thinking about how others hate it.. lOL.

they say you should re-install FF every 6 months or so.. it tends to get clogged up and start a low slower. And yeah, Chrome did suprise me with its ultralight speed.. but since I got a new pc FF been quick as lightning. Lets hope that'll stay that way

I wouldn't say I hate it. I mean, it's a browser, that's all, and I really have better things to do with my life than wasting emotional energy on something as inconsequential as a browser.

However, after having used it for a while a few years back, I abandoned it and stuck with IE, simply because I really could not see a compelling reason to use anything else. This, and some of the juvenile anti-Microsoft sillyness not only among ffx fanboys, but also among its developers started to get on my nerves...

P.S.: I always wonder what people might be talking about when they mention "speed" of a browser. At least on the machines I use, all the browsers I ever tried are fast enough so that the bottleneck is really the network transfer rate, and it doesn't make one wit of a difference what browser I use. Some huge placebo effects there, I suspect...

i sometimes love, sometimes hate the fact that it's not multiprocessed.

why? i got ie crash during a newtab-click. the result, it spanned endless amounts of processes. now try to kill ie running on a quadcore at endless process creation.

well, didn't work out well :)

if firefox goes crazy (unlikely but still), i can go to taskmanager, and kill that one exe.

i just don't like it if i watch some music on a tab, and f.e. facebook on another tab causes a short music stutter when it updates it's information.

I dont hate FF by any means, it's a little slow at times, but not on my desktop. My biggest issue is it seems to hate facebook on my computer, I don't know why. My other preferred browser is chrome, it's very lightweight and sleek looking and works fine with facebook.

not as good is a question on what you want from a browser. do you want a 1 sec faster boot up time, or do you want a browser that you can adopt to your needs fully?

i'm for the second. so for me, it's the best out there.

i had over 1000 tabs opened in a matter of .. 5 seconds or so? it ran until it filled the 4gb of ram, then nearly freezed the os due to overload, and after the hard reset, i couldn't boot my win7 beta :) it lasted about 10 minutes, my first win7 beta experience :)

My bootup is fine I don't mind how long it takes, but some pages seem to take too long to render.
