I have Realtek on 2 of my computers and I didn't have any problems with the Microsoft update. Wonder why?

If you don't have the control panel starting, it won't cause a problem. It doesn't do anything but cause the Realtek control panel to not start, sound and everything else will still work fine.

Yeah, sound worked fine, just much more of an annoyance than anything. I did hear of that particular update causing many more problems with other programs of significance.

    Hi

I just went into msconfig and unticked the RTHDCPL.EXE box at startup, and this cured the dreaded problem.

Haven't had any knock on effects from doing this.

Sometimes things can be that simple.

    Regards
