Yeah this site has a lot of ads. ABP ftw. Chrome should be getting an ad blocker soon though.

well, that'll be fun. want to see chrome block it's owns companies ads. google lives from it's ads, and even chrome, as it's free, completely relies on ads. wanna see how THAT'll go.

I went through and added a bunch of addons that I thought would increase my productivity, and though they've done that, I have noticed something interesting. Ever since, my cooling fan runs a lot more often whenever I'm in FF, especially when I have a lot of tabs open. Almost anytime I go to do anything, no matter how mundane, the fan begins to blow. I must admit that it kind of worries me a bit because my fans never really had to blow so often before.

Doesn't necessarily mean it's FF. Is FF using more resources now, or more importantly CPU?

I think FF is using more resources now. I know that it can be a number of other things, but this all started after I installed the addons and new themes. Prior to this, my fan only had to spin every once-in-a-while, usually when doing something intensive like watching a movie, for instance. The "upgrade" was the only thing that changed; everything else stayed the same.

I'm actually more of a fan of having ads than having the Ad-blocker thing constantly popping up at the bottom of my screen.

Not sure if it's "illegal" to bump such old posts, but I am curious to see new users or new changes to people's Firefox because I'm thinking of a complete overhaul. 8]
Want to keep maximized viewing space though.

It's a mix of the Glasser extension and some userstyles (namely this one). As I said in the other thread, PM me if you need more information. ;)

Can you tell me how you got the bookmark tool bar to work right with the addon. I see he didn't have a bookmark toolbar when he did his, so it doesn't work right. I see in the coding there's a way to move the tab bar up and down, but no option for the bookmark toolbar, and what addon is that that makes a new tab icon next to your current tab. Thanks

Not sure about the first part of your post, but the "tab icon or plus sign" is just the latest Firefox beta or nightly build. It's default. And personally I hate it, it makes the tab bar bigger which = less viewing space.

Yeah, it doesn't work correctly. That said, I messed with the CSS to get it to work correctly (when the menubar is hidden).

Commented out is the original line of code.

I'm not that desperate for screen real estate. ;)

Yeah, lol. I got a 22 inch and was using my old 17 inch as the secondary and I'm like this isn't cutting it, when my monitor goes for sale again I'm getting it. So luckily in a few weeks it went down and I jumped on it for matching screens. I really wish I got a 21.6 or 23/24, something that will support 1920x1080 so I can watch blu ray at its recommended resolution. Ah well...:/

But back on topic, I really wish there was an option to make that tab bar slimmer. Oh well, you can bet that there will be an extension for it in the future.

Maxing space was VERY important to me for my netbook (EEE 1000H) with only a 1024x600 res screen you have to be wise how you use it.

So with a few add-ons it added some much needed space.

    Here is how it looks:

    From Misc
    Addons Used
Autohidestatusbar - makes the status bar go away unless its loading something.

stoporreloadbutton - makes the stop & reload button become just 1 button, its a stop button when a page is loading, and its reload when the page is done loading.

In additon to that my windows task bar is on autohide and I only have the address bar turned on in fire fox. its about as good as you can get.

My desktop is also totally blank and maxing screen space.

    My actual desktop:

    From Misc
Hover cursor on at bottom for 1 second and the taskbar comes up

    From Misc
Hover cursor at top for 1 second and the rocket dock comes out with big easy to use icons to link to my important stuff.

You should make the back/forward buttons as small icons. Help out a little. Look at my first post on page 1.

with the addon "personal menu" you can remove all the bars to just have one bar left. and then you can make the icons small to have very small loss in height. see my firefox some posts before.
