Microsoft is currently doing a public beta program, inviting us "regular people" to try out Windows 7 and provide feedback.

If you really want to do this (there are risks involved, this is a beta of an operating system after all) then you need to go to the beta page: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/beta-download.aspx right away and register and download the ISO. The critical thing is the licence key that you'll get when you register, you'll need that to extend the trial end date to August and activate Windows.

    Good Luck
    Ricky :)

I'm still running the docks with win7.

I like the OSX docks better. Not sure why.

Yes, W7's taskbar replaces ObjectDock for me. I like the previews it gives and is more functional with the jump-lists. The taskbar (to me at least) is vastly superior to all the previous editions of Windows.

I wonder on if the icons are customizable as well...

Actually, I like that it has a taskbar toolbar. That WMP 12 doesn't in Vista was one of my primary complaints about the interface - if iTunes has one and WMP doesn't, I might have to try it out. WMP 12 can't remember whether it was maximized in Win7 x64, either, so all in all I'm not too thrilled with it despite its improvements over WMP 10.

OTOH, I'm pretty averse to Apple in general (still recovering from Mac OS 8/9 - deep wounds take a long time to heal). But the irony of Apple's software working better on Win7 than Microsoft's might be tempting enough for me to try it.

Why? The Vista/Xp thread doesnt require thumbnails either, max width allowed is 800px in that thread. :)

Okay, well then everyone should post smaller pics that don't stretch the thread. I am using an EEE 901 and the huge pics are annoying.

If you want to enable the Windows Media Player toolbar in Vista just right click the taskbar then go to Toolbars and click on Windows Media Player.

How ironic, it doesn't work for me. After right clicking the taskbar I go to toolbars, then click on windows media player but no check-mark appears like it should. Any ideas?

Did a fresh install of Vista 64 last night. It was working on my previous install.

I'm really enjoying that cycle through wallpapers thing they have built in.

No more getting some other program to switch wallpapers...What took them so long?

    That looks really spiffy.

I wonder if it will have moving desktop backgrounds like Ultimate?
